Thanks to 2005 Board member, Masabon, for dropping by to let us know that the latest Deluxe Dark Of The Moon wave has been released in Japan. On top of that, Masabon has picked up the two new molds in the wave, DA-31 Autobot Que and DA-13Soundwave, and provided us with a ton of cool new pictures of Que in both of his modes. He’s also provided us with Autobot Que’s bio which, except the name, is the same as Hasbro’s Dark Of the Moon Wheeljack.
When he first learned about the laws of physics, AUTOBOT QUE took them as a challenge to his intelligence. Laws, after all, were made to be broken. The Autobot technician had dedicated his life to pushing the limits of science. More often than not, his inventions have failed spectacularly, but when they succeed, they often change the course of millions of robots’ lives.Click on the title bar to check out all the pictures and then head over to the 2005 Boards to discuss

The doors on Deluxe Soundwave are actually just hinged panels that fold up and collapse around to form his blocky shins/heel, so that's a negative on any doors on his arms.
The gullwing doors on HA Soundwave wind up behind his shoulders to form kibble. The doors on him can be popped off their socket joints and removed, but there's no way to attach them anywhere else on his bot mode. They look like they might fit on his lower legs somewhere to help give them some much needed bulk, but again it's not possible without some sort of custom modding to the figure.

Deluxe Soundwave.

Ask and ye shall receive. XD I think I'm spamming these pictures of mine a bit too much so I think this will be the last time I do, heh. But to answer your question, HA Laserbeak isn't very little at all. Given his wingspan, he's pretty big and approaches Cyberverse Commander size. Given how small the DOTM Deluxes have now become, I'd say they both border the Scout class size if I didn't know any better.
Final thoughts:
I like them both equally as they each have very interesting and intricate transformations.
In hand, the HA version is pretty fun to fiddle with and feels solid (and oddly well balanced when posing) despite his strange proportions, skinny legs, and tiny feet. He's also got a scary hulking robotic monster vibe going with him that the tiny Deluxe seems to lack. I suspect some Radicons will be making Shapeways parts for HA Soundwave to help fill out his legs and give him some much needed height in the coming months. =)
The Deluxe has more onscreen accuracy going for him, of course, but is a bit more fiddly as far as transformation parts go, being on a smaller scale (that and his backpack kibble is more annoying and obtrusive on him than HA Soundwave's shoulder kibble). His mechtech gun also looks too oversized in his hand, but looks better scale-wise on the HA version (it's just a challenge to get HA Soundwave to hold the 5mm peg with his weird claw hands but it's definitely doable and stays on well enough once you get a good grip going).
And of course, there's Laserbeak. I love him despite the too-bright red with his legs. Can't wait to have him with EZ/Legends Ravage, HA Frenzy (whom I painted silver and blue), and Ratbat (from a mistransformed/repurposed HA Pinpointer). Mr. Gould is just eh. XD
Which figure are you referring to? Deluxe Autobot Que, Deluxe Soundwave, or HA Soundwave?

Would it be possible to attach his car doors to his arms permanently in bot mode – or would that not work with the transformation?

Relax?! Relax!?!?! But…hand wringing and bitching is what we fans do best!!
Seriously though, I agree with those who've stated previously that these figures are somewhat disappointing. I attribute this to lackluster paint apps, fairly wrote and unimaginative transformations, and piss-poor CGI models (at least in Que's case).

Timesynch, how big is the little Human Alliance Laserbeak compared to deluxe Soundwave, if I may ask?

Relax,Hasbro will eventually produce them, let TakaraTomy get on with these 2 figures 1st,we all shall wait patiently for the Hasbro version of Deluxe Soundwave & Leadfoot, hope so.

Ive heard that they are being pushed back to feburary.. but I think its just a rumor, not sure if hasbro confirmed it.. I really hope its a rumor..

So, when exactly will Hasbro release their versions? I'm not buying that Takara version of Wheeljack.

Fairly disappointed in both of these figures. The DOTM line has really lost it's magic, if it ever had any, IMO.

Human Alliance Soundwave (with Laserbeak and Dylan Gould) and Deluxe Soundwave (alt mode). Next to him is TFTM Deluxe Premium Barricade (with his DOTM Deluxe mechtech gun and wheel mace weapon from Robot Replicas Barricade) and DOTM Deluxe Barricade (alt mode). I don't have my HA Barricade with me in Japan for comparison, sadly (he's been boxed up and shipped back to the States with nearly the rest of my TF collection for an impending move).
As it turns out, the mechtech gun from Deluxe Soundwave can be held in HA Soundwave's clawed hand with a little patience and finagling. =) You can also plug in the gun's 5mm peg into the port on HA Soundwave's left arm (which also serves as a little flip out seat for Dylan as well as a 3mm clip point for Laserbeak's foot) but the gun's peg sits squarely in the middle underneath (and HA Soundave's 5mm port is located on his upper forearm) resulting in the gun blocking his elbow joint articulation. Best to have him hold the peg instead like a real gun.
I can see why they did it given at this size it'd be difficult to pull off an accurate chest mold transformation. It's not too different from what they did with Deluxe Barricade with his flip-up/down chest grill. Still, the engineering behind Deluxe Soundwave is very unique and cool. The fake chest actually sits inside the rear of his cabin in alt mode, while the real grill folds up neatly and is inside his torso in bot mode. The fake chest also clips his head and collar area in place fairly securely.
I really dig this mold (and the Human Alliance version; he stands well and feels relatively solid despite his top heavy proportions and the skinny lower half of his body) despite its flaws. Can't wait to get the black (with reddish tinted windows) redeco version of Soundblaster! The black alt mode alone will be sexy and look nice next to Barricade and the Dreads (hopefully the rumors of a Deluxe Crowbar and Hatchet, both with GMC SUV alt mods like Crankcase, are true).

Hasbro version of Soundwave is already out,so you may consider but still no news for Hasbro Deluxe Soundwave though

Your pictures just sealed the deal. I will now have to get both the deluxe and the HA Soundwave. Crap. and Que/Wheeljack too. Oh well, the longer they take to get released, the more money I can save.
