Official Images of APS-01 Striker Optimus Prime

Yea I pre ordered this bad boy, but as someone said before that this IS gonna be an expensive quarter. I mean you have this MP 12, MP 13, MP 14, takara version of FOC, the new generations set, the first two bot for the Not Superion, Captimus Prime, Revoltech DX Prime, and Master Arms Optimus Prime. All of those I listed I am getting each of them so that mean this quarter I'm spending almost $600.00 Hopefully my wife wont kill me.
PS I also preordered Iron Man Mark VII from The Avengers from Hot Toys!

Plus Im getting the Black Lion from the Matty Collector version of Voltron! Make that 700 in this quarter!!

Fudge... Guess imma have to buy this now... Time to sell my jetfire buster combo.

This is gonna turn a lot of people round.. but like i said before, there's nothing here i don't already have, and like others said, just too much other stuff on the near horizon for me to buy it right now.

As much as I would like to get this I think Ill have to pass (still thinking though)...I have buster and the original striker....between both of them I have this except the shield with the silver.....hmmm....I might just wait for the next repaint, next year...

I think people that bought the original Striker will have to agree it does look nice. That Autobot insignia on that shield just pops out. Seriously, if I get this, this'll be my 6th variant of this mould. TAKARA YOUR DRIVIN ME NUTS...in a good way

If the colors match on this one and the buster prime I may have to swap some parts out to make a Striker Buster Prime. Only issue is the panels that hold the gas tanks.

I just need a touch of clarification, does this version also have the gas-tank gun/s? Also, would I be able to attach the Jetwings to it? Thank you in advance!

No. No Prime does.

The Striker guns can't mount on the Buster gun components.


Jetwing will attach in alt mode, but not robot........gas tanks are fixed and get in the way.

^I think it's the same as the Jetwing Prime, which doesn't have them.

I hate how it doesn't have flip out swords like the regular Leader or Buster version. I wonder if the opening in the arm is still there were the blades from my regular leader can be added in.

The inevitable black Striker rRepaint you mean? They did it with the original ROTF version, then with the Jetwing version, why not with Striker?

These pics look nice and I'm glad I've got it preordered, but as others have said, it is quite redundant as a figure. I've already got both versions of Buster plus the original Striker with the real battle blades. Nothing new here.

Swords yes....shield. i don't think there was any retooling of the mold for the shield?

I'm gonna volunteer "Sentinel" for this one though, he probably has this mold a dozen times over at this point.

They filled in the opening where the swords went. There is no space for the swords to be added back in, hence the addition of the hand-held battle blades.

In bot mode, yes, Prime can hold the blades and shield fine. In alt mode, the shield will fit the truck no problem. You did not ask, Striker's guns won't fit Jetwing's gas cans in alt mode, nor the other ROTF leader Prime versions.

Removing the blades is an upgrade, in my opinion. It's such a pain in the ass to transform and pose Buster and the original ROTF leader because of those blades.

yup, or any other as they seem to be milking this mold/retooled mold over and over again.....its not going to end....lol....I'm pretty sure at least one more repaint will come out before TF4 comes out and give this mold a rest...

Well that sucks! I wonder could I swap just the forearms? Don't know how big of a job that would be. I wouldn't have an issue if they looked like how a sword should be held but those stupid handles ruin it for me. I don't have a problem posing mine with the blades.

The shield will fit on any version of the mold. There was no special retooling to make it work specifically with Striker. I just now put the Striker shield on my Amazpn Japan Black Prime (the only one of the ten I have in-hand that is actually in alt mode) and it fit perfectly. It should work the same for the Jetwing Prime in alt mode as well.

I guess it bothers me more than normal because I use the jetwing backpack with Buster. Those popup blades and the jetwing gatling guns don't go well together...

They shouldn't go together at all. They added an attachment underneath the forearms on Jetwing to firmly attach the Gatling guns. That must have been one of the main reasons for retooling the forearms in the first place (plus getting rid of one of the most complained about features I bet).

You could swap these Striker forearms with the two-pack Buster forearms to have the integrated swords. That would be the only way to match the pinstriping and give you the flip-out swords. Switching the forearms would take about three minutes. It's quite easy.

I gotcha, well my Buster is misb but I thought about picking this one up to replace my regular leader since it has the nice paint job, it's just those damn swords.

But my chrome jetwing looks so nice on Buster...

I thought of a workaround. Gonna swap the panels that hold the gas tanks between Buster (mine came from the DOTM 2pack) and this "Premium" Striker. Display "Premium" Striker with the chrome jetwing in bot mode and display Buster in alt-mode with the Striker shield and guns. Perfect combo!

You know, I can't remember if Striker has that remolded slot in the back to fit the Jetpack. I may have to look into this more closely for myself so I can have the ultra Prime as well.

By looking at the pics i can't tell if this has less or the same amount of chrome as Buster. It looks more silver than chrome.

This is really cool. But I am happy with my Striker Prime already. I don't need another one. But it is very cool regardless.

Okay, removing the back flaps turns out to be a bit of a pain (trying it on ROTF leader). So yeah, on second thought, swapping the forearms is easier and will have the same effect.

I would have preferred the white pin striping over the blue because in my opinion its more (pun intended) striking.

Agreed. I pimped out my original Buster Prime with the white pinstripes because they simply look better, even if they aren't as screen accurate.

Yeah, I figured the guns would hold without being pegged into the forearm. The catch is getting the jetpack to stay securely in place without the notch in the back to accomodate the attachment.

Thank you all for your help. Basically then, with these two figures, I should be able to make one Prime with all the parts that I want on him. Perfect! I've got this on order now, along with the Jetwing version from Amazon. Thanks again!

Hmm, I'll have to tinker with all my Primes and see if I can do the same thing for a truly "Ultimate Prime". I already have Takara Jetwing Prime, DA-28 Striker Optimus, and DOTM 2-Pack Buster Prime (with Jefire) that's still MISB. Debating whether I should just sell the Buster 2-pack though.

Oh, man. I'm actually struggling to pull the pin on this one now. I want to get it badly, but I actually can't justify the price for once.........$176 shipped. Jetwing cost me 99 Aussie dollars at retail. Who'd think that a decision over one toy be so hard.

I've got another question; I imagine the Jetwing Prime from Amazon will still have the same electronics, but, what did the original Striker Prime say? Was it still Peter Cullen's voice? Also, what color were his optics? I've got to leave for now, but, again, thank you in advance!

That Prime looks fantastic.

The only chrome Buster has is the window shades and the grill. Both are clearly chromed here.

As far as I can tell, from a paint ap and chrome perspective- this is Buster prime (with the blue pinstriping). The only difference is they seem to have is the now painted rear view mirrors and headlights.
