New Pics of Transformers: Cap Bots

Amazon.co.jp has posted new images of the upcoming Transformers: Cap Bots toys from Takara-Tomy. As announced back in June, these upcoming toys are Transforming Baseball Caps that turn into robots- with the Autobot one in typical Optimus Prime colors (as well as sporting a head that looks like Optimus Prime wearing a baseball hat) and a Decepticon one in black and purple. These toys are due out in December of this year.

These might be fun purchases for something completely oddball in my collection, since I haven't backtracked to getting the shoeformers. They'll probably get double spread treatment in the 2012 Generations Guidebook Vol. II, like the Gari transfrming iceypole/popsicle in the last volume.

I've missed these silly little brand-crossover figures like the Nike TFs and Music Label. I'm very nostalgic for that era where TFs was experimenting with franchise drugs.

While merchandising can get extremely ridiculous, these are still kind of a neat little novelty to have on your desk at work just as a piece of flair or something.

Those are based off of real hats that you can find in Lids/Spencer's right now. Too bad the hats are snap-backs. Fitted all the way, ya know? I'm wondering if these will scale up with the Nike Sports Label Transformers that were out a few years back.
