Just got mine, and aside from the minor paint differences, the articulation works better on Takara's, the fists and the head are not terribly hard to rotate, which scared me about the Combiner Wars version, The CW version is very stiff and it feels like you're about to break it, particularly the fists, on the down side the chest doesn't peg in as firmly as the CW one, less prone to brake, but I like the pegs on the chest better on the CW one, maybe that's just my Takara Megs, I owned the CW and then sold it in favor of Takara's and so far that's the one other difference I found between the 2.

MY TT version from BBTS has no moved to warehouse. Anyone else?
EDIT: And now, shipped. *Excited head nodding*
Darkstone
Mine's shipped. I was about to pass on him, but he was in stock at HLJ and I compared the price to buying the Hasbro one at TRU. And I was right: EMS-shipping from Japan and import-fees included, it's cheaper than driving to a local TRU (If they even have it) or ordering it from the TRU webshop. Only by a small amount, but still.
And since I like Takaras deco more I just ordered LG-13. But it is close, if you happen to live in a land where this stuff isn’t hilariously overpriced and available near you, I would go for the Hasbro-version as well. Both look great. Takara as the G1-animation model inspired deco, Hasbro as IDW & G1-toy.

Totally agree. I like the arms and treads better on Takara's version, and the torso better on Hasbro's. I'm getting Takara's for now (before it gets super expensive) because the local version is impossible to find and ridiculously overpriced here in Canada.
Maybe if I ever pick up a Hasbro one too, I'll try to construct a perfect Frankenstein using the best bits of both. …If I'm brave enough.

Amazon had some at retail yesterday with free shipping.

I really don't know which one I like better. But importing the TT is a lot cheaper then getting the Hasbro version at local prices or importing the Hasbro version from the USA. So, cheapest option it is.
I think that I prefer the Hasbro version in tankmode. If only because the red painted sides of the TT robotmode, means that in tankmode you can see some of the red bleeding through on the front of the tank. But TT's tread look better.)
In robotmode I like TT's all silver arms (with a little bit of red on the elbows). The chest hinges…either color works for me, but I will say that I kind of like the belly details on the Hasbro version a bit better.
To me, the best version would be a mix of both.

For what it's worth, my TT version preorder was just processed by BBTS so I imagine shipping should occur soon.

I have ordered the Takara version as it's the only one currently available from my local plastic crack dealer, no decision need with only one choice, but in all honesty I can't really see a great deal if difference.

Thanks I wasn't sure because Takara has been using die cast more examples are MP-22 & MP-24. I own both and they have a considerable amount of die cast in each so once again I wasn't sure since they seem to killing it in the legends line! (Killing it = good)
Also I probably wouldn't have thought it but in recent pics LG Ultra Magnus inside of his feet look like painted plastic or die cast (same as this color paint on Megatron I was asking about .
Thanks for the answer. Maybe you know if his QC and joints feels strong on those shoulder joints cuz my Hasbro Megs feels absolutely atrocious on his shoulder joints and his neck. Its still a good figure but nothing like the quality from back when Cybertron was.
Ask cuz someone said it reminded them of the cybertron quality. (Forgive me if that was you lol)
Raiyuki
Agreed. The plastic between the two feels basically the same and "QC burns" are far from being limited to one company. I have both Henkei and Universe Galvatron and the Henkei one has a mispunched pin in his hip/thigh joing. Henkei Rodimus had a misassembled heel, and Henkei Thundercracker…well you know how that is. I've heard complaints on YOTH Prime having some loose parts but mine's downright solid (I don't have Takara's). More recently I got Adventure Ultra Magnus and his windvain/shoulders don't really peg together in alt mode wheras my Hasbro BH Magnus has not issues with that.
Also while people complain about the 2014 MP Grimlock having KOish clear plastic cuz it's slightly opaque, my MP Silverstreak has that slight opacity as well (and I got him before the KOs rolled out for that specific figure).
daddytron
Oh absolutely. And I'm not disputing that at least 19 times out of 20, if not more, the Takara version is better due to better deco, more paint apps etc. But it's not because of better plastic or engineering. But the differences in joints seem to me to be more like the difference between different units of the same Hasbro stuff. For example, I've had 3 different versions of MP-10: Takara, Hasbro, and YOTH. The joints on the Takara were the loosest of the 3. Ditto for Takara vs. Hasbro Soundwave, the tapes, and MP Prowl. But the 2nd release of Hasbro Grimlock was super loose. I also had both Hasbro and Henkei versions of Classics Voyager Prime and Megatron and there was no difference between the tightness of the joints or the plastic quality. Ditto for a few Cybertron figures I bought Takara versions of, due to liking the colors better or not being able to find the Hasbro ones at retail (Cybertron Jetfire and Scourge were a PITA to find, and steep on the secondary market back then).
I know this is all anecdotal but, based on my own experience, I find the theory that Takara uses better plastic and/or has tighter joints to be complete horseshit.
Wh33l JcK
I feel sometimes the joints on Takara's Generations stuff are often times different. It can go either way though, they can be tighter or looser.
daddytron
Doubtful. 99.9% of the time the only differences between Hasbro and Takara versions are colors, amount of paint apps, and once in a while accessories. The only examples I know of where Takara used better plastic are MP Rodimus and maybe MP Thundercracker. There just seems to be this persistent myth that Takara makes its figures out of adamantium and Hasbro makes theirs out of manure.
Raiyuki
I guess maybe it was the lighting; they really did look painted in the photos. More flat somehow. Nice to know that the light piping is there though
Autovolt 127
Leader Megatron is shorter than MP-10. Honestly Megatron should just be a Classics figure and nothing else.
Uh what?
jametron
Oh well that makes sense! Thanks.
ex dtw2003
It looks more than a bit odd.
Hanzkaz
I prefer the look of the Hasbro version going by the pics, but is there really a great difference in the quality of plastic of that and Takara's?
BattleUpSaber
I'm sure the triangle only looks gray because of lighting.
jametron
YET, if the Takara version was the Hasbro release and vice versa, people would bitch about the "lack" of paint/color/etc!
Also, why does the Hasbro version in this pic have a gray triangle on the crotch? Mine is unpainted!
