The development charge of UNICRON 25 years ago was Mr.Ono of TAKARA.
(BOTCON2010 Hall Of Fame)
Trial product one body and approximately three pairs of reproductions that he was made from one DX size, real size one, real size. He spoke that I prepared for trial manufacture of UNICRON approximately six in total.
Light & sound gimmick was going to be equipped at first in UNICRON.
In TAKARA, it was provided VOICE sample of Orson Welles by HASBRO.

"I am Unicron"
"Attack planet Earth"

His VOICE sample did not come out with a toy.
In UNICRON, a high price became the problem and was not able to release it 25 years ago.

Mr.HASUI designed MP-10 CONVOY Ver.2.0. His development document and sketching were placed in the book.
Mr.HASUI dealt with much STARSCREAM. His nickname is Mr.STARSCREAM.


Design sketching of Huffer of the MP class was placed in the book.
Enthusiasm in the MP series of Mr.HASUI is handed down from sketching.

Neo Unicron... meh. The only reason he's so glorified is because he never came out. If he were available, everyone would complain about him being a shellformer.

Then again, this is what I call "gray model syndrome": Every toy looks awesome as a prototype. Back when photos of a gray model of Armada Overload leaked, the fandom was wetting their pants.

Then the toy came out, in full color, and people started complaining.

But as long as all we see of a toy is a gray model, it's the awesomest thing evar!

Man, that would have been an awesome toy however !! it's not the grey prototype syndrome, it's that are years that I cry every time I see some pics of that thing... the proportions are perfect exactly as the details and if real it would have be a very big toy too. It'll remain forever my strongest dream that didn't become real.... About people's complaining I don't care cause I care only of my taste anyway

Instead it's a real nightmare the first G1 Unicron prototype, that's a real crap imo

But Armada Overload is one of the most awesome toys ever!

Sixshot was rumored. And Misfire's a very good idea, especially if they can somehow fix the easily breakable Aimless. All of those large Targetmasters are GREAT figures.

but it looks like if you peel his shell bits off you can display him in bot and alt mode at the same time!

he is pretty kibble laden but all the same i really like his greebles and underlying bot shape. shell not so much, but ehhhh, beastwars.

While it would be great, I'm sure they're just there because of the time frame this story takes place.

Actually I was asked to use the 1987 Decepticon characters in order to stay "on topic" with the "Headmasters" articles in the book itself -- not to promote future Encore releases, since I did chose them randomly.
But it would be great if TakaraTomy will actually reissue any of these guys, personally I love the 1987 stuff!

I introduce Mr.MASAKATSU SAITO(斎藤 まさかつ）.
He supported TRANSFORMERS as a mechanic designer.
He was in charge of the sketch of the packages such as SIXSHOT at first.
Mr.SAITO will deal with a mechanic design from about 1988.
He dealt with Star Saber and Overlord with the reader of G1.
He laid a design of much PRETENDER and almost all ACTION MASTER.

Mr.SAITO had relations in all of items which it released in Europe of 1992 and 1993.

Mr.SAITO dealt with the THUNDER HEAD of the DOTM(2011) item.
However, Mr.SAITO will retire for a disease. He did big contribution in TRANSFORMERS.

The more fan support the more likely. I'm sure the mold is there somewhere.

I looked and met it, and there was the contest with ARGETMASTERS and UNITED KUP.I like designs of SIXSHOT.In addition, I wish a work of Mr.Guido is placed in the Japanese book.

I wonder if this will ever be released in English. The first volume was great for images. This one seems a little bit more verbal.

Oh boy, Misfire. Criminally underused character.

He's comedy gold if played straight!

(Unfortunately, most writers would ignore the essence of the character and simply use him as a generic Decepticon grunt.)

That Unicron is so beast. Damn I wish we could have gotten that.

Overly enthusiastic indeed... Huffer wasn't exactly the most popular G1 figure. For him of all bots to get a Masterpiece would be... amusing, to say the least. That said, that's a very nice sketch... Also wouldn't mind seeing a Classics update to him.

PCC Huffer is ok for a CHUG version, but honestly seemed like the mold fits the Marvel Comics rendition of his G1 retool known as Pipes.

I gotta say I nearly keeled over when I seen that pic of MP Huffer,why in the hell did we not get him in the MP Line I would pay $200 easy for him.I really hope Takara revisits the idea to do Huffer he would Rock 10000x over.Come on Takara and make this happen.

I've always loved this Unicron concept. And as much as other people complain about shellformers, I always loved shellformers too. The Neo toys were incredible. The Car Robots brothers were great. I've never had a shellformer I didn't like. And frankly, if you want a true planet mode Unicron, shellformer is probably the best way to go to get there.

Too bad we'll never see it because the Armadacron mold has become the standard for Unicron. Not that it's horrible, it just doesn't strike me as a planet.

Also, BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG lulz at Masterpiece Huffer. My word the fan rage that would induce from the "so many more important characters" crowd. They'd have to release him with a giant trollface on the box.

Besides the many more important characters out there, I would say that Huffer does not have a particularly difficult transformation. The entire cab just stays on his back, not even utilized in the process. So many more interesting transformation to take into the MP realm than him

Never seen that first version of Unicron. Looks like a very early prototype/mockup of the one Hasbro keeps....

It would be really interesting to get encore reissues from that era of G1. With the big targetmasters like misfire and you can't have to much Sixshot.

If huffer was a masterpiece figure. Then it would be the result of a different direction in the Masterpiece series. Smaller more affordable masterpieces following in the more recent bandai soul of chogokin offerings. Or even from takara with alternity, as a smaller form binaltech.

It could easily be a new figure for Generations as well.

well, that's because the colors were HORRIBLE and when we saw it as a grey prototype we had no way of knowing he'd have barely G1 level articulation: I still think he's an awesome "design", just a sub-sub-standard toy ~ at least Energon Ultra Magnus redeemed the colors...

that fort max proto finally explains the weird colours from the headmasters #1 cover and marvel US #51. This stuff all looks great. Wish we had got AM Arcee. And that the pretenders had looked as good as those concepts. Love to see the ones for the human pretenders.

So there's going to be a MP Huffer then? that would be awesome if there was a 2 pack of Huffer and Brawn or something.

Thank you very much for sharing these! I especially love the Pretenders lineart and the Fortress Maximus images. Are the sand colored Fort Max images (with the red and brown detailing) indicating a unreleased "Detritus" color schemed Junkion Maximus?

Fully agreed on the mention of the larger Decepticon Targetmasters, they are some of the most amazing toys of the late G1 line.

Not only is Nevermore serious, he's also very accurate in that statement.

Not only is Neocron a shellformer (which isn't too bad on itself, because IMO he pulls off the look), but he's not that big. IIRC Neocron was going to be close to the size of Optimal Optimus. IMO, Armadacron is a far better toy, specially with the new colors and head, and it manages to include some of the great features from the Neocron design as well.

Even if I purchase it, I can expect that cost is high(I am resident in Japan)
It is $ 33 only for book charges.
I think the day when BBTS has books to wait.
It is the book which a lot of documents worth seeing are placed in as well as the image which I introduced. It is a book wanting TF fan except Japan to look by all means.Is this book registered in Amazon .com?

I love the Generations books! I wish they'd do a second "deluxe" edition continuing where they left off and do Beast Wars through AEC...

It's too bad TF Gen vol1 and 2 are not in English, otherwise I would've purchased it.
