Upcoming Transformers United and Arms Micron Releases - United Hardhead and Reflector

Meister79, posting over at the Allspark, has shared an interesting bit of news with the fandom. He's posted a Takara-Tomy solicitation which includes a whole bunch of new toy names which we have not previously heard about. Toys on the list include:

United Reflecter (sic) - This one is priced at the Deluxe pricepoint, so it is potentially a release of the Reveal the Shield Perceptor redeco with the alternate head mentioned at Botcon 2010.
United Hard Head - again a Deluxe priced release, this might well be a release of the Deluxe Warpath with the alternate, Hardhead inspired tooling.
United Shock Wave - priced the same as the Takara-Tomy Generations Optimus Prime and Jazz, so potentially a release of the Fall of Cybertron toy with a shiny paint job like the Takara-Tomy Generations are sporting.
United Gremrock (sic) - again, priced at the Deluxe pricepoint like Shockwave.
United Starscream
United Swindle

There are also two new Transformers Prime Arms Micron entries on the list:

AM36 MMOG Thundertron - this sounds like an Arms Micron series release for Thundertron. What is of interest is that first bit - MMOG - which might possibly stand for "Massive Multiplayer Online Game", i.e. suggesting that Thundertron is going to make an appearance in one of the online Transformers games currently in development. Potentially Transformers Universe since we already know the Star Seekers are represented in that game.
AM37 Preview Optimus Prime Re-do - This is at the Arms Micron Deluxe pricepoint so it is potentially second release for Japan of the First Edition Optimus Prime Deluxe class toy, although your guess is as good as ours what the "re-do" means.

The list itself includes a healthy mix of Takra-Tomy Japanese market items and also confirmed Asia exclusives, so time will tell if any of those United toys will be released in Japan or will be more Asia exclusives.

Coincidence! I was just thinking about whether or not we'd get that Reflector retool of Perceptor and suddenly this turns up. Hardhead is an added bonus and should prove to be a more satisfying alternative to Universe Hardhead.

On a side note, I wonder if Takara will ever release Skullgrin as Dauros. Isn't he popular in Japan?

That's cool about Reflector, I'm glad that's going to see a release after all.

For those that were interested, that's cool about Hardhead - personally, I'm good with the Universe Ultra with the Headrobots upgrades (I have two for one of each version of Hothead), but like with Reflector, it's nice that we'll finally get to see it.

I'm curious what head they'll use - they made a faceplated head that's more accurate to Reflector's toy, but not to his animation model so much.

I still don't think the Perceptor mold will make a good Reflector but maybe I'll be surprised. Hardhead out of Warpath seems a little off to me as well but that's more because the turret in chest design just doesn't scream Hardhead to me.

Gutcruncher on the other hand would be a nice choice IMO.

I'm aware of that. They listed them as United releases though, not Takara Generations. Same with Shockwave.

Both passes, third party releases and accessories have made superior versions of these characters available for ages. Straight repaints of the molds as Magnificus and Gutcruncher would have been instant buys.

Not like I import many figs in teh first place but that news absolutely kills it for me. I freaking HATE that mold. Although admittedly the proportions prolly work better as Reflector.

Yeaaah...the Perceptor mold isn't really one I want to buy again, especially for import prices. I think I may go for Hardhead though.

Plus the Swindle and Starscream are both explicitly listed as "United" and not "Generations" which we've already had confirmation is where the FoC toys are getting a release. Not impossible they'll be FoC anyway but there's a chance they could be something else. There's no shortage of Starscreams to potentially repaint.

BOUGHT BOUGHT BOUGHT and I'm going to stop making fun of people who import all their toys from Japan for AT LEAST, like, a day.

I would love to buy three Reflectors but I really doubt I can afford that. Unless they are three to a case! Brilliant, buy the case!

Sad thing is, this probably puts a stake in the heart of my MP Soundwave preorder and I'll just hope it comes to TRU.

The mold has prominent shoulder weapons, I think to help make up for the main cannon not going there. In fact the cannon-in-chest is the ONLY detail that really just screams Warpath over Hardhead. It's a complete win to me, better than the Straxus/Skullgrin compromises for both characters.

I'll have to see pics before I decide on Reflector. Hardhead should've been Gutcruncher. And Swindle is interesting, wonder what that's about? Maybe its a Classic-style re-tool of Animated Swindle?

Well, I have a reasonably complete collection of Classics-mold Decepticons I like to maintain. Come to think of it I probably wouldn't be getting three at those prices because the mold is just not good enough.

As for MP Soundwave, it's already a big expense that I'm considering dropping. I'm more afraid that a US version would have yellow eyes than that it won't actually happen. Soundwave was on Family Guy for heaven's sake.

I have a feeling Swindle is going to use the Universe Hound Mold as that mold had not received much use.

Who thinks these may be some of the next wave of Asian Exclusive Generations figures?

With the use of United as a line name, that is more than likely.

And yes, Swindle out of Hound, thank you, I'd been trying to remember which mold was a likely Swindle. It's been done before (Alternators Swindle) so it's entirely possible.

The question then is what happens to the Ravage cassette? Classics Howlback?

I'm down with Howlback, definitely. Stripes could be an alternative, based on the recent Encore release, though I'd prefer Howlback personally.

If takara is doing the repaint/remolds listed on the old generations figures instructions, this gives me hope we might eventually see the alt heads for lugnut and scourge. Really hoping leozack gets a release in shiny colors.

These are Takara, or Hasbro Asia? Anyhow, I hope they do come to the U.S., or we get alternate redecos of the molds. I could see Swindle being made from Hound (seeing as we now see simultaneous versions of the same character sometimes like GDO Brawl and FoC Brawl, FoC Jazz & Ultimate Gift Set Jazz). Maybe just replace Ravage altogether with a bigger gun....

Oh, I totally missed the Swindle part. Hound as Swindle might work with a new head. Then I will have to wait and see if FOC Swindle or the other looks better.

I have dreamt about a Swindle with a new head (and preferably a new weapon but I could live without that) since Hound was released back in 2008 or what it was. The WFC Combaticons are kind of cool but not nearly as awesome as most of the earlier Classics/Universe/Generations. I'm also hoping for a Blast Off from Classics Astrotrain.

Also they list a "United Shockwave" so that's either the FoC mold in asia (as it is listed by Takara as part of the AM series) or a whole new toy/remold.

I would jump on the Hound redone as Swindle though...

As happy as I am that HasTak are giving Reflector some much needed and long overdue attention, their mold choice is retarded. As we've now seen with several customs, squeezing an equally overdue Generations Soundwave out of that mold makes infinite more sense.

Scourge is (probably) Ratbat (looks like Senator Ratbat from the comics) but the head would make a good Leozack too so hopefully we get both down the line.

Pass. I'd rather track down the old Ultra Hardhead and either Headrobots set for him, he looked a lot cooler. You can't make the Warpath mold look like anything BUT Warpath, that's the whole point of the tank barrel chest. Refelctor is also rather boring looking. I may be one who takes an unusually high appreciation to the more boring and generic TF's that come out of a line (probably why I love most of the PCC's to death on aesthetics alone), but it's not worth importing simply to get my generic fix, Vehicons are hard enough to get for non scalped prices.

I'd buy the reflector retool. I'd also be all over a deluxe hardhead from the lovely warpath mold, even though i have (and love) the universe ultra with the headrobots upgrade.

Hmmm...these guys will likely set you back triple their worth buying them overseas.

So unless Hasbro gets their heads out of their rears these are a pass unfortunately.

Hmm, it didn't even occur to me that that Swindle wasn't his new mold. Even though I just got Generations Swindle, an Earth-mode Swindle out of Hound is tempting. And oh yes Stripes please.
