I was there at this small exhibit today. Apart from combiner wars, there are displays for the RiD animated series, dinobot unleashed 5 set, year of the goat soundwave and g2 prime. Cant wait for year of the goat!
Overall I will say that the combined mode is impressive apart from the elongated arms. The individual aerialbots in bots mode looks normal but dragstrip is good! Have you all notice the inverted autobot insignia on superion crotch area? Not sure is it due to mis-transformation or something else.

Wave 2, that's where.
It's just a demonstration of how any Combiner Wars Deluxe can combine with any Combiner Wars Voyager, specifically using the very-soon-to-be-released first-wave toys, which Air Raid is not a part of.
Hasbro are not trying to make anyone think that Drag Strip an official Aerialbot.

For God's sake! Stop assembling Superion with Drag Strip! Where's Air Raid when you need him?

^This.
and honestly I have no problem justifying my price for this.

Wrong. They were co-developed alongside one another, and they only did the one set of legs because Optimus requires a particular look to his legs while Motormaster doesn't. MM's paint job does enough of a job disguising his legs that there was no need to do two sets of legs.
This really simple, guys. There's no conspiracy here to make your toys bad. It's just business sense.

That chest kinda looks like the PM armor/chest bit…
With all the clamor of folks saying PM Prime… you KNOW there will be a 3rd Party making an addon kit for this figure. (And hopefully a better non-combiner head TBH.)

There's a lot of PM Prime design queues there: the combined mode front being on the back of the robot body, the two guns. The sloped windows on the combined mode chest remind me of God Ginrai and Star Convoy.
Blacklai, if you're reading….. when you get the Prime can we have pictures of the back of both of the robot & combined modes, and can we have a picture of both the robot & combined modes with the back of robot/chest of combined mode opened up? I'm half expecting, from detail I can see on Menasor, for there to be a moulded Matrix in there.

Liking the Optimus. Actually liking most of these figures, 2015 should be interesting.

Optimus actually doesn't look too bad from these pics, I think if the "windows" were painted black or even a non-metallic light blue it would have looked better. Nothing a quick bit of customising can't sort out though. Not too fond of his robot-mode head either. The G1 toy-style roundness looks a little out of place I think.
If the head isn't too goofy/big, I might be tempted to pick him up if it's possible to switch his arms and legs around so his combiner torso/head is his regular robot mode, if that makes sense.
I'm on the fence about Superion. In my attempt to be somewhat "pragmatic" in my collecting toys of characters I don't have much attachment to, it's a lot of dolla (for me) for all 5 Aerialbots. On the other hand, after looking at Silverbolt and figuring out how his torso-mode works, I'd love to get them in hand just to check out the engineering. I find the simplicity behind it kind of impressive.

Dam it now I want prime for the hope of a 3rd party to make some kind of pm armor for him. Xp

Honestly, that Prime is the most exciting TF I've seen in a long time. It does something new for the character and looks to have great play value. So looking forward to getting my hands on it.
Blitz.
cost cutting. massive cost cutting. Also they are aimed at even younger kids now so not only does it have to be made on the cheap but they cant be too complex. So i guess the silver lining is that we still have a great MP line while it lasts.
I actually really like Silverbolt… apart from the combiner's crotch area its just got too much gap. If its possible to rotate the arms so the legs are closer I'd be more then happy with Hasbros superion over a 3rd party. but more then likly I can see it turning into a floppy mess given that the lower legs are Silverbolts arms

A Motormaster with Optimus legs is obviously a remold of an Optimus. The design was Optimus first regardless of how early they decided to make a Motormaster out of him. Most remolds are planned from the beginning, especially the last few years, but the design starts out as someone and then is worked into someone else taking both into mind as much as possible. But there is absolutely nothing Motormaster about the legs on either version of the mold. Really, there isn't much Motormaster about it at all minus the head and color scheme. While obviously the Optimus version has all of the hallmarks.

Silverbolt does do robot mode and torso mode magnificently. It's a refreshingly unique switch between the two, worth picking him up for that alone imo. I will then be trying to work out a way to re-shell him into an XB-70 Valkyrie alt-mode.

The best pic we have of that bit of the toy is the back of the robot mode partially seen here:
(from the original post)
Aside from the promo images, of which the bellow is the best version, that's is all we've seen
Prime is holding his secrets here till the very last
unicronic
These are $20-30 figures. Manage your expectations accordingly.
ExVeeBrawn
No.
Neither is a remold of the other, they're co-development of one base toy that had the parts for both designed in from the beginning.
Afterburner
Motormaster is the remold.
Rockdown
It's all good. You can save money.

my god silverbolt looks worse than the universe version. the paint apps are lacking, so are the moulded details. looks so.. diluted
optimus prime is simply just a lazy repaint of motormaster. hasbro has come to a point where they are not ashamed about rolling out crappy designs while expecting us to pay more esp after the aoe toyline
