We’ve got another great new Generations toy gallery to share with you. This time out, we have a gallery of a Headmaster and the Lost Light’s mad scientist in residence – Brainstorm!
Generations Brainstorm does a grand job of updating the chunky original Generation 1 Brainstorm and his boxy proportions with a more modern and decidedly less boxy appearance, based on the More than Meets the Eye comic. It gives Brainstorm a very striking silhouette – this toy looks extremely good in both modes!
Brainstorm is also fun to fiddle with. As with most modern toys, he lacks waist articulation, and his wrists do not rotate, but everything else is there – including ball-jointed head articulation, which is cleverly incorporated into the Headmaster gimmick. Arcana has limited articulation when he’s not being Brainstorm’s noggin, with just his arms and head (!) being poseable. One word of warning – watch the blue-green paint on Arcana’s legs, it seems to chip very easily.
Overall, Brainstorm looks great and is fun to play with. He’s one of the most dynamic looking Voyagers to come out what has been an excellent year for the size class, capturing the spirit of the character extremely well and generally being a good, fun toy. Be a smart robin and check out the gallery to see for yourself:

Thank you gents!

MegaMoonMan produces a larger, non-opening version now that's better sized for the Hasbro release.
Sol Fury
The one photographed in there is one that was made by board member Megamoonman, it was sized for Smart Robin so it is a bit of a snug fit.
Fakebusker is also doing one I believe.

where can I get a Brainstorm briefcase?

I honestly don't get why people say ROTF Prime was a pain to transform. After about my fifth time, I could do it easily in 5 minutes or less. It's by far the greatest transformation complexity I've dealt with, and it's a piece of poetry for me. To me, the fun is getting a new transformer, throwing away the instruction sheet, and figuring it out on my own. It's no fun if the transformation is so straightforward that I can figure it out just by looking at the stock photos…
SMOG
I used to think that was true. And then I realized I was wrong. There is NOTHING fun about transforming ROTF Leader Prime.
I don't like simplistic transformations that look bad… and this Brainstorm is on the line there… great robot mode, but a sort of dodgy looking space jet mode.
A transformation that is innovative, solid, and easy enough that you can achieve it in 5min or less… that's something great. There's something sort of satisfying abotu the ol' "click-click-clack-clack" transformations of the old days. There's nothing stupider than a transforming toy that you leave in one mode all the time because you can't be bothered to set aside 15+ minutes to transform it. If that transformation is annoying too, even worse.

Depending on where you live, you may want to give new releases almost a month before you'll to really see it.
Awesome looking mold – now someone please make Hasbro and Takara go to couples counseling so I can a Star Saber repaint out this .

Having never owned any G1 toys, I don't see the appeal. They were blocky, had no articulation, and stupidly simple transformations. I don't see the appeal past nostalgia factor. And to me, simplistic transformations detract from the fun factor. I'd much rather play with, say ROTF leader prime than 90% of Generations toys.

I am the opposite, as I prefer mildly-difficult transformation schemes. MPs are fun, yet not frustrating (except of course the annoying issues of MP09), but overall Classics/ Generations mainline stuff should be less troublesome and more fun to play with. I also give Hasbro/Takaratomy bonus points for having Brainstorm transform easily and without fuss. that way, the play value and simplicity makes the toy like his G1 predecessor, which is AOK in my book.

Did you actually look at the close-ups on those paint apps?
They ain't pretty.
I don't think it's out-of-line for people to comment on the fact that Hasbro's paint apps are looking kind of dodgy. Some folks seem so eager to jump on the "shut up, you butthurt whiners!" train, that they aren't actually taking a moment to see that some of these complaints are warranted and totally fair.

^This.

And that's exactly why I prefer to collect Movie toys. The overly complex transformations are my favorite. They're much more fun to me. But this guy? Hell, it seems Generations Tailgate has a more complex transformation than him, and that's sad.

I hope we get more Generations Headmasters. Brainstorm looks fantastic and some of my very first Transformers when I was a kid were Headmasters. I had Chromedome and still have Weirdwolf and Fangry. I think a Generations Mindwipe with Vorath would be incredible.

^hah! dat pic!

It's not that Takara charges double, but having to import them doesn't come cheap.
I can't recall the last time a big box of butthurt was delivered over a figure. It's ONE review over a single figure. It doesn't mean all of them are like that.
Honestly, the fandom should be happy with a figure like Brainstorm in this fashion. Paint chips or bad application is nothing new, shit happens, just deal with it. Who says Takara's paint jobs are always perfect? I have quite a few Takara Generations/Classics with some sloppy paint and I don't care.
It's amazing how easily angered people become over the littlest thing.

Because he needs it….
Badly.

Thank you!

^Because Takaratomy has the budget to put extra finishes and sculpting on their toys (see Armored Knight Optimus AD-31) and Amazon Japan Exclusive Hound with AOE DVD for examples) .. and they cater to different Collector audiences, beside the US folks you know?!
dude.. so much butt hurt in your last sentence.. LMAO.

The only way I'll waste extra money on Takara is if the colors are drastically different like the Beast Hunters dragons or Generations Arcee or that Ratbat made from Scourge. Hasbro & Takara's Brainstorm is almost identical, I can barely notice a difference unless you point it out. So I'm not going to waste extra money foolishly.
If Hasbro & Takara's product comes from the same factories then why the fuck does Takara have to charge double for everything???

Tell that to Universe Deluxe Galvatron.
