We’re kicking off a look at more new and upcoming Combiner Wars Generations releases, starting with Warpath! This new Warpath is a part of Combiner Wars Legends Wave 3 along with Groove and Viper. He’s a retooled version of the Generations Legends Megatron from 2013.
Getting the negatives out the way first, yes, this is Warpath lacking his traditional chest cannon, trading it up instead for an arm cannon. It’s a pity, but the design of the toy would not allow for it, given the arms fold up across it for tank mode. If you can get past that, though, this Warpath is pretty neat. The shade of red Hasbro has used for him is a nice, rich shade, which evokes the original Warpath’s red nicely. The tank mode is also excellent, and is a good match for the Generation 1 Warpath tank. Lastly, the head sculpt is amazing. It’s a tiny head, but full of details, and nicely captures Warpath’s head.
Warpath is likely destined to be criminally overlooked because he’s had two good releases in the Generations / Classics banner, but we’d invite you to look again – he’s not a bad toy by any means, and will be found chilling with the updated Cosmos and Powerglide in our collection.

I'd contend all that is truly needed are some redone legs – change them into something more boxy, maybe with flip-out feet, and you'd get a different looking vehicle mode and a different enough robot mode. The rest, as you say, would be passable – and I'd venture, moreso that what we've had so far.
However, the use of Swerve for the Botcon set does not bode well for a Fallback / Outback – typically the convention only gets to use molds not in use by Hasbro. Therefore, it would seem Hasbro is not currently using the mold, suggesting that we may not be seeing either one in the immediate future.

Its like Optimus Prime not being a flatnose truck cab but thats been done.
Its like Springer not being a triple changer but thats been done.
Its like Overlord not being a Powermaster but thats been done.
Its like Weirdwolf not being a Headmaster but thats been done.
Its like Metalhawk not being a Pretender but thats been done.
Its like Battletrap not having two separate vehicle molds, but thats been done.
Many appearances or gimmicks are part of a character. And yet we've seen numerous times where that appearance or gimmick hasn't been part of the toy because it was repainted from an unrelated character. Mainly at Botcon but several retail repaints too. Warpath not having his chest cannon isn't a big deal compared to many other toys.
but mainly because its not in the budget to remold anything other than the head.
Yeah, I expect Brawn and Outback/Fallback will be a straight repaint of Gears and Swerve. Neither Brawn or Outback needs new heads. Gears' and Swerve's are accurate enough. And its not worth making a new mold for Brawn and Outback because the differences a new mold could give us are very minor – same reason why we didn't get a new Huffer or Warpath; save the new molds for someone significantly different to the others.

Slammer would have bee. A better use for this mold.
Agreed. Its like a G1 Megatron without a fusion canNon. Its part of the character.

Cheers!

No kidding on that headsculpt!:
Excellent gallery, man

Brawn and Wheelie got the Legends treatment in Universe, which is something at least. Not ideal, but Wheelie in particular fits since he was always a smaller character (I'm happy with the Legends Beachcomber for the same reason – he doesn't need to be a big guy). Brawn and the others I'll give you – that Legends Brawn is okay, but a redeco of Gears could be so much better.

track down the Universe/Henkei version???
Feralstorm
Considering my 'minibots' are deluxe Classics Bumblebee and Generations Warpath, I'll be passing – unless that Slammer or Grand Slam idea really takes hold.

I'd love to also see this guy get the green repaint as Destroyer like ehobby.
Electro Rush
Deluxe Warpath will stay in my classics Autobots display while this legends Warpath goes in my Metroplex display. He looks good… shame about not having a gun chest but what can ya do?
Prime Wylde
Agreed. I'd love an original minbot mold for him.
artiepants
not to mention a real Cliffjumper ( a red Bumblebee doesn't count)
G1Prowl
He'd make a perfect MP Sunstreaker.
Lewa1267
Better than Huffer, but otherwise, eh. I'll just stick with the deluxe.
Prime Wylde
I'll just use him as sixgun.
Autovolt 127
Great Idea.
ultramagnus1
i forgot about them.
Digilaut
I'll echo everybody else: he looks fine – even if he doesn't have a chest-gun, but with the deluxe existing he's a bit obsolete in my eyes. I guess it's for the people who prefer their minibots mini.

We still lack Brawn, Pipes, Outback, Hubcap and Wheelie.
