Next up, we’re on to the Voyagers in our series of galleries looking at the new Combiner Wars Transformers toys, and so, here’s Silverbolt! The leader of the Aerialbots with the crippling fear of heights is the first of the Generation 1 combiner team leaders to be updated for the Combiner Wars line, and he’s rather cool.
Silverbolt himself is a great and faithful update of the original, right down to the passenger jet alternate mode that looks close to his original concorde alternate mode. The robot mode likewise nails the look of the original, with all the style of an updated design much as we have been seeing throughout the Combiner Wars line. Silverbolt comes with a pair of accessories – a long rifle and a shield, both of which can mount on the arms, though the rifle also fits into Silverbolt’s hands. The two accessories combine into a huge weapon which can mount beneath the nose of the jet mode. It even features a fake wheel molded in to compensate for the fact it covers the landing gear when attached.
The main draw of the Combiner Wars toys, though, is combining them into a single gigantic robot, and Silverbolt serves as the torso of the combination. Any four limbs can attach to form a gigantic and poseable combined mode – and make no mistake, the big guy, Superion, can hold poses well. Even simply combining the toys is a joy to do.
Silverbolt is a great example of what the Combiner Wars line is all about. He’s solid on his own, but comes into his own if you also have the Deluxe class toys to make the limbs for his combined mode. Well worth checking out – and on that note, check out our gallery at the link below:

The torso is brilliant! Having Silverbolt's legs become Superion's shoulders was one sweet piece of lateral thinking. The only detraction to the combiner mode is the fists sticking out so noticeably behind the knees.
The robot mode is nicely proportioned, except for those shin guards! If only they could have managed to flip the leg around to make them feet.
The dangling backpack is unfortunate, and the vehicle mode is… an Aerialbox, of course. What else? I would have preferred the arms to fold away just a tad better, but, meh, it's totally forgiveable.

Can't wait for Takara's Superion set. June is so far away!
Silverbolt looks great. I can't express how impressed I am with the Aerialbots. I can forgive undercarriage junk so the alt mode isn't such a big deal to me. Robot mode looks great and so does the torso.

I so want to see that Hot Rod now.

This is exactly how I got mine. I bought this figure along side Optimus. If it wasn't for the chicken legs, it would have been perfect. Still a great figure. Glad to see combiners are back in full force.

I want him right now, but I cannot find a single one at retail…

Another great gallery Sol…
Really like his jet mode better than robot, that's unusual for me. Will be on the look out for this one.

This is not the appropriate forum for that kind of photo gallery!

That's weird that they said that. Silverbolt is part of wave two with motormaster. They cannot be discontinued.

Once you get used to Silverbolt's puke yellow, he's a nice figure. The yellow-orange actually looks decent under certain light sources like a lamp. I also did Radio Free Cybertron's floppy ear fix…which worked well.

Mine on the way from Amazon. I'd like to see comparison to the Takara one before committing to the rest of the group.

It's my original from when I was a kid in 1986, he's had a lot of play and love over the years. One of the legs isn't even the original…
Truth be told a lot of my older toys have play wear, but I really don't care, because those old bots are my childhood. You ought to see my Hot Rod!

Thanks again for the gallery. Just stokes my anticipation more, but distribution is what it is.

Unfortunately, it seems like for every good thing Hasbro does there is some silly oversight they miss. Either that or it's a cost thing.

at least they could have made them removable like g1 optimus prime and maybe store in the compartment where superions head stores.

Loving this figure now.
Boy, that G1 Silverbolt is in pretty bad shape.

The way Silverbolt's fists stick out the back of Superion's knees really hurts the look. Is it too much to ask for panels on the forearms to conceal the fists like on Classics Megatron?
