We’ve shown you Dead End, Dragstrip and Offroad – now we are rounding out the four Stunticon limbs with Breakdown! Combiner Wars Breakdown is a Lamborghini Countach, a very slick car that was also used for Generation 1 Sideswipe – and with the head sculpt looking particularly Sideswipe-ish, we’d imagine this one is getting a straight repaint into Sideswipe down the road.
Breakdown’s robot mode transformation is fairly simple, as with most of the Combiner Wars Deluxes, and it gives him big boots and relatively thin arms. It sounds like a hideous look, but it works and does not look too awkwardly proportioned – and as a bonus, gives him a nice wide base to stand on, making posing easy. Breakdown’s weapon is rather cool – it’s a gunblade, a weapon that works equally well as a sword as it does a gun. As an added bonus, the foot for the Menasor mode attaches to his back in robot mode (which again, would work for a Sideswipe release).
Overall, Breakdown is another great release in the Combiner Wars series. He’s got a great weapon, a killer vehicle mode, and is extremely faithful to Generation 1 Breakdown. Check out our gallery and see what you think.

Yeah, there's a way:
On the thumb there's a raised part that fits in a slot between the spoiler on the back. There's two small lugs on the roof the rest sits on, it secures using the three together.
REALLY wish this sort of thing were in the instructions.

Anyone figure out a way to attach Breakdown's foot/hand with the engine block facing upwards?

I love his bot mode. He doesnt quite tab in as securely as Id like in altmode but hes great overall.

I actually was stoked to transform him, and was challenging myself to using ONLY the printed instructions (which, for some reason, ever since ROTF leader bots, tend to aggravate me). Well…I was worried about transforming him but was making good progress.
Right to where the legs swivel out and up, so they tab into the slot made by the elbows (kinda where the back of the door would meet the rest of the car). That right tab just did not want to 'click' into place like the right one did. I risked using man-strength to make it fit, but when I finally somehow managed to make it fit, the spoiler fin halves separated. They tend to work antagonistically, one part fitting while the other doesn't.
I really love the look of him in both modes, but my alt mode is a bit off due to the unwillingness of the parts to join properly. They're about as good as they'll get now, and with some time in storage in alt mode I'm hoping the parts will wanna play ball a bit easier next time. I'll be keeping him in bot mode (or Menasor) for the most part anyway, but this was a lot trickier to get his hips, legs and lower torso to transform into the upper front of the car part. Way trickier than Dragstrip, for sure.
I was truly worried about breaking Breakdown because it's frustrating to know one side just 'clicks' in like it's supposed to, yet the other side, not so much

My wave 2 Combiner Wars figures showed up today from HTS and the first figure I went to was Breakdown. He was always a childhood fav of mine.
My excitement was short lived however when I quickly discovered that he had a defective left foot. The pin used to secure it was driven in at a diagonal angle causing the foot flap not to be able to fold closed correctly thus robbing the figure of its transformation. Not cool.
HTS is NOT known for handling returns very well so it looks like I'm off to search for one in the wild…if it even does appear in the wild.
It would have been a decent figure if not for the defect.

I was pleasantly surprised with this one when wave 2 arrived from RK a couple of weeks ago. Much better in hand than I had thought.
On another note, just found deluxe wave 1 at TRU, guess what they charge for a SINGLE figure over here?
499 sek, thats almost $60!
Turakonin Prime
I love all the CW figures. They all seem lower in quality but hasbro is really doing great in utilizing what they have

Ya this guy is IMO the weakest looking Stunticon in bot mode. The arms and hands both being white make it look cheaper than it should. I think if the hands were a different color it might look better. Alt mode is spot on though and I still cant wait to complete my Stunticon team!

I cannot wait for these to ACTUALLY BE RELEASED. Jeez, I feel like it's been eons since the last wave. Does anyone actually have an ETA on these guys?
Timothy.R
That leg is so ugly and lazy looking, that's a bummer.
Other than the hollow legs, which make it look ridiculously cheap, it's not too bad.
DOTM Bumblebee
I have honestly not seen a bad Combiner Wars figure yet, and Breakdown is no exception! My only problem is I don't know how many I'll be able to afford…
Kaijumaster
Man this is pretty! The wait for HTS to ship mine is getting painful!

The tabs on the gun fit into the slots in the sword. For weapon storage in vehicle mode.
TheGrognard
I can't stand this one. The legs and arms are just hideous. Nice head sculpt, nice alt mode.
CVprowl
That looks nice. Congrats Hastak!

If Hasbro actually included these things in the instructions, I'd actually be able to pick it up and include them – the little lugs that sits on, and that groove in Offroad's fist comes to that, are pretty low key. Though Offroad's at least has that big plastic spike thing for the hand to go on.
Out of interest, before I spend a lot of time editing a lot of photos – there's tabs on the side of Motormaster's gun, what might they connect into (and will it scratch the paint?)

That car mode picture looks awesome!!
Thought the car mode was a meh until seeing that.
Now I look forward to get breakdown too.
Rockdown
I like him most out of the wave 2 figures. Far better than the puny Fansproject version.
artiepants
True, but I'm feeling forgiving since he also probably has the best vehicle mode.
TheUltraMagnus
Not bad, but probably the weakest combiner wars figure in bot mode for me.
