TFW Generations Fall of Cybertron Kickback Gallery

KickbackRobot16
Time for another TFW Transformers Toy Gallery update. Today I am very happy to share with you all a gallery of one of my favorite new toys coming out in Fall of Cybertron Deluxe Wave 3, Kickback.

Why is Kickback so great? He is, basically, a well-made and fun toy. He transforms from insect mode to robot mode in a clever way that manages to be innovative without being overly-complicated. Both modes are quite striking with lots of purple and a little gold making for a particularly sharp look. In insect mode Kickback is not all that poseable - the insect legs can be adjusted but that's about it. In robot mode though you've got plenty of movement - just about everything other than a waist swivel, and nice big feet with ankle poseability to help hold those poses. Kickback comes with a big, disk-launching weapon and two clear plastic swords which form his wings in insect mode. The disk-launcher is a nice extra, but it is a bit heavy and hard for Kickback to wield. The swords though give a great range of poses. As you might notice in the pictures, Kickback inherits the Transformers Prime Insecticon's additional clawed arms, but if you do not care for the look then they can be stowed on his back.

Where I personally feel Kickback truly shines though is the fact he can more or less fit in with three different types of collection. He will sit well with the other Fall of Cybertron toys of course, but he also goes with the Classics line and even fits in with the Prime line to a point. I've done comparisons of all three as a part of our gallery, which you can check out by opening the link below:

Gosh. Either Universe Ironhide is tiny or FOC Kickback's huge.
bellpeppers
At the current rate of distribution, we can expect to see this on the shelves sometime in Spring- 2017.

Can't say that I'm a big fan of this one. Maybe some paint apps would help out..
BScorpinok75
Love the pics! Can't wait to have Kickback in my hands.
CodeXCDM
Ironhide's tiny... makes you wonder about the smaller scaled figures being released recently... after all Ironhide was released years ago... and yet... he stands head-to-head to Kickback, who happens to be a head shorter than WFC Megatron... so yea...

Speaking of Prime Insecticons... man... you'd think Takara would've at least made a mold of that in Voyager scale! >_<
Anguirus
Pure hotness. Finally pre-ordered this guy and do not regret it.
Galvatron Rage
I wish the insect mode was a little "cleaner", but I still like him nonetheless. I'll definitely buy him when (if?) I see him.

HA! So true.
Z005WFT
Robot mode is OK the insect transformation is better.
gregles
I Really like both modes. At a glance I immediately thought of armada sideways
Necro Prime
I'll be ordering the Takara version for my FOC collection, and buy maybe three of the Hasbro ones to army build for my Prime collection. We have to make shit up since we couldn't get an actual Prime-verse Insecticon.
Spin-Out
This is probably the only FOC toy I'll buy. Like, ever. Helps he isn't a fatty mcfat fat like most WFC figures.
charsdc2
He looks pretty nice!
bigpink
Uh... fits with the FOC and Prime... yes. Classics, not so much. Especially when compared to FansProject.
PcPrime23
Kickback looks awesome. I'd love to pick this guy up when it hits stores.
Argentenoboy
I'm glad you could remove the swords from the Gear Shreader. Now to buy multiple so I can get that delicious weapon.

Also, kinda surprised he's bigger than backfirey. Never would have guessed that a Hasbro figure would be bigger than a 3P one
miscreant
It's not necessarily a complaint. and i can't put my finger on why, but when i look at this toy, it just strikes me as the one of the most unTransformerlike Transformers i've seen in a long time.

And that's coming from someone who has no particular complaints with the look of the characters in the Paramount movies.
Roller81
Thank you for this review. This clears up a lot of the reluctance I initially felt with this figure and has mad me VERy excited for it, I may even have to get the Tak version (one insecticon is NEVER enough).
My only nit to pick is those swords, they just dont seem, well...Swordlike enough. Maybe something can be designed through Shapeways *cough ARIEL cough* but other than that a VERY solid figure that I look forward to adding to my shelf.

After looking at the comparison pics, if HAS puts out the other 2 insecticond I wont have to buy the FP versions. Yes I think this figure is THAT well done. Bravo to Hasbro for coming through on this one. Now I need a voyager size Hardshell for my Prime collection...
Paxtin
I really didn't like the look of this guy the first time I saw him, but for whatever reason the more I have seen of him the more the toy has kind of grown on me.

I still don't really like the pincher arms on the wings, but that's what he looked like in the game, so can't really fault the toy for that.
ErbFan28
Not bad at all...in fact, I love it
sh002
wow looks good
Bahamut Prime
Awesome!
slackerforhire
Very cool. I'm definitely looking forward to owning this guy. Thanks for the pics and review, Sol!
soundwave144
i want this toy sooo bad...ive definately gotta pick this one up at retail asap. 'specially since hes shortpacked-one per case. the chase is on again! great looking toy hasbro!!
CVprowl
i need 1 for my son.
TF FOC Autobots
Really nice figure. I hope they do a FOC Deluxe Sharpshot (Sharpnel) and Hardshell (Bombshell) as well. It would be really nice to see the three of them together. I hope they do and I can't wait for this figure. Well, he is defiantly ready to bring some revenge to Grimlock and Snarl (if you know what I am talking about in the game)
Kevin XI
Wow, he looks pretty good. And he comes with a gear shredder. I think I'll have to pick this up. Very good pics, btw. Thanks.
WhiteMocha
Very nice. Anyone else feel like aesthetically he fits in with Prime more than he does with FOC? I think it's the organic shapes and Vehicon-esque face.
knightmare6
I want one! I just hope Shrapnel and Bombshell also get figures made!
LegendAntihero
I'm going to like this one as much as I like his Fansproject counterpart if not more so
MythofBlackout
I'll probably pick him up if I come across him but I'm rather "meh" on the figure - I love the design and the colors are really nice but I'm disappointed by the proportions in robot mode and the relatively messy, incomprehensible look of his beast mode - at least the back half.

That being said, the Insecticons were always one of my favorite sub groups so it's kind of hard to resist them, even if I already have the awesome FP versions.
The 12th Prime
I dig it! I like the simplicity of the colouring and homage in shape to the G1 toy with the ability to fold up the regular robot hands into wings and use wing/claw as claw hands, I think it's a neat touch. I may buy every version of this that comes out, I hope they even do an ehobby version of Shot Hole to match that one

jestermon
Ha bell at this point with the shelves look in my area we can expect to see this as a Ross exclusive, probably won't even make it to mass retail.

Looks very nice, I am sure some customs will be made from him for all 3 insecticons.

And a Deluxe Insecticon Ransack repaint for good measure
Anti Spark
His grasshopper mode looks totally mis-transformed.

Something doesn't look right with his back legs.
Prime Jetscream
Is this wave already out in stores? I can't tell because people talk like it is, but there was no announcement...
phoenix88
nice to see a positive spin on this bot. can wait to see him at retail

I know it at least hit HTS, I imagine some have already got theirs. Also I believe it came out in Asia (non-TakTom), so those probably came over via eBay.
YoungPrime
If I buy this guy it'll be for the bot mold only. Sadly those Locust legs don't look right...(were they even transformed?)
Sol Fury
They flip round and the shins pull out a bit, plus the feet rotate. That's literally as the instructions show it, there's a limit to how much you can alter that to get a different look.
ex dtw2003
I was initially really turned off by this guy but the more I see of him the more he becomes a definite buy. Weird, but I think this will be my classics Kickback.
Scrapmaker
An excellent figure. I'll be sure to get him, along with Starscream and Grimlock.
