TFW Generations Fall of Cybertron Grimlock Gallery

We'll kick off our 2013 gallery updates with a new toy of a character who is very dear to me - Grimlock! Fall of Cybertron Grimlock is another one of those toys who occupies a happy medium between lines, blending with Classics, Fall of Cybertron or even Prime with varying degrees of success, and beyond all that, he's just plain awesome. He's tall in robot mode and imposing in dinosaur mode, with a gimmick that makes sense for the character and that does not get in the way of the rest of the toy's operation. Excellent poseability in robot mode is the icing on the cake. Some fans were disappointed that the original Classics Grimlock was, in their eyes, not a worthy update to Grimlock, well, thanks to Fall of Cybertron we now have a Grimlock who is a lot closer to the Generation 1 original, and nice and big to go with it.

What we have for you here is a nice extensive gallery showcasing Grimlock's dinosaur and robot modes, along with comparisons with previous Grimlocks and a selection of images showing how Grimlock fits in with other Fall of Cybertron toys, with other Classics series characters, and with Transformers Prime characters too, given that this version of Grimlock is presently playing a leading role in the Transformers Prime continuity "Rage of the Dinobots" comic.

All in all, Fall of Cybertron Grimlock is a toy that I cannot recommend enough. He's not flawless, but he is the best non-masterpiece version of Grimlock that we have had. The fact he can fit in with most collection displays is a true bonus.

Wow Grimlock looks awesome! Great pictures too, makes me want to buy him now

Have to say seeing pictures of this toy side by side with the original classics Grimlock really make that toy look dated and awful on retrospect.

I'm AMAZED by how this figure shrinks so much for Rex mode. Seeing him side-by-side in both modes with Energon Grimlock is bizarre.

Still he looks great. I'm not crazy about how they went about his tail (a reversed, G1-style transformation would have worked better), but it's a minor issue.

My MP Grim was packed away when I took these, and like FoC Bruticus, he's going to be a bit big to fit in the light tent with another toy next to him.

I've been looking at building a larger setup for the big guys though, I'll use him as a test drive!

He's general retail, we've got him down as "March 2013" in Resources but like most of the release dates we get from Hasbro, actual release tends to be a month or so earlier. He's out in Asia already and accounting for holidays, that would put the approximate window for US release at around about the end of the month / start of February.

wow man, that trex mode is small. SMALL. It's a bummer, i was hoping for a big voyager sized dinosaur.

Definately will be buying this for my boy but I got to wonder if the Takara version will have a red crotch area like the g1 toy and whether or not they will chrome the chest

OH GOD THE KIBBLE!

Robot mode would be good but the dinosaur head is way too much kibble, will probably chop it off.

Beast mode has a tail that looks too small and kinda like a mouth :L

Will be buying it, but hating all the kibble and terrible proportions

I must have this figure! Grimlock is one of my favorite characters, and I never got to own a toy of him as a kid, so the new FOC figure immediately appealed to me.

I love the fact this design is so neutral. I think this design is more Generations than Fall of Cybertron. I plan to repaint it to be more G1 with a bit of generations style.

As for the dead in the back and light it seems to be a good idea but It seems to be an after thought to me. As for the figure it self its way to thin. I look forward to what each of you kit-bashers come up with. I know I have a few Ideas. Ill just keep that to my self for now.

There's a toy discussion on this piece that could really use some input from people that like it...just saying.
