Generations Voyager Class Brawn New Image

Posted on 08-09-2012 at 10:15 AM by Sol Fury under Generations / Classics
Generations-Brawn
Here is a look at the Transformers Generations Brawn from the Asia Exclusive Transformers Generations, or GDO, assortments. Unlike the other three in the assortment (Megatron, Powerdive and Protectobot Hot Spot) Brawn here looks set to remain as an Asia Exclusive, as when the Toys R Us China Import assortment of Voyagers was shown at the San Diego Comic Con, Brawn alone was conspicuously absent. And while we proceeded to see in-case and official pictures of the other three, Brawn was nowhere to be seen.

What we have here for you is a picture of Brawn from the cross-sell of the Protectobot Hot Spot packaging, which we believe is the clearest look we have had at this First Edition Bulkhead remold to date. The picture shows that Brawn will get a Generation 1 inspired head, like the Deluxe Class Cliffjumper, and a fair bit of gold / orange detailing to go with the deco. The new head and deco definitely recalls the style of the original Brawn, and dare we say that the new head does not look completely out of place on the body as originally feared.

Tekkaman Blade
That head is way too small.
UltimusPrime
I just noticed this on my box LOL.
TFPrime
Actually really like it..it works for him. The heads great..and now I can see it'll be another 100-150$ import ugh.
soymonk
Meh, I can live without it. It's not like the US isn't getting the FE Bulkhead mold.

I love the headsculpt, but it looks very out of place on that body.
slackerforhire
Still not really sold on it, but I wasn't sold on Cliffjumper either, and he ended up being my favorite from the deluxes. Hopefully I'll get a chance to see this guy in hand.
SGTsoundwave
not really loving it. that's gonna be another pass, and my wallet is quite pleased.
Fallout
that head's just not right on the body. cliffjumper was the same way and in-hand pictures made it look better but with this one... i doubt it will.

also, anyone else seeing the face on his chest?
rxlthunder
Badabababa, I'm not really lovin it.
Ceerad
I'm interested to see the Radicons hit this with the inevitable Juggernaut paint job.
Starfire22
No.
Angelwave
LMAO!!!

OMG that look ridiculous! And I thought Wheelie was bad!!

Oh my ribs......
DJW107PRIME
I'll stick with Igear for my Brawn fix.
Bountyan
That looks horrible.
Starfire22
Even hasbro (US) executives agree with us on this one.
Soundwinder
Huh, head's too small but I actually like the design for Brawn. Looks nice and powerful, if way, way too big.

Kinda inspires me to see if there's a way to get a decent Brawn head on CV Bulkhead.
StayingInTheBox
Man ... that's hideous.

AND IT'LL BE SITTING ON MY SHELF IN NO TIME!
MechaV
I want it for the sheer ridiculousness.

That's a pretty great headsculpt.
Crobot91
I actually don't mind this lazy re-paint; he will look good with my Alternator/Binaltech collection.
defstar
Just like Wheelie...easy pass...
General Tekno
...that's not as horrible as it looked at first glance.

In either case, it's a good Brawn head for customizers.
MegaMoonMan
No.
Burnout
i like the head but not big on the incorporation of trying to make animated styled figs into classics...the preportions are just off...not terribly with brawn but i just dont see it as brawn. I also noticed the new blue card sw figs are putting non-animated clone trooper heads/helms on animated clonetrooper bodies. Guess hasbro is getting cheaper by the second?
prime roller
Head smaller than hands is always aesthetic fail. I'm looking at you too FOC Optimus.
CybertronStreak
Going repurpose him for Unicron Trilogy Brawn
SPLIT LIP
The tiny little head on this giant body literally makes him look like a sumo wrestler in an awesome way.

This.
shroobmaster
It looks like Brawn is wearing some kind of phat suit.

... I got it now IT'S BRAWN WEARING THE APEX ARMOR!
The Bucket Kitten
He looks much better than before. *Adds Brawn to Maybe list*
Prowl 2009
Meh, not a fan of this one.
Dinodigger97
I've seen worst. But I have ROTF Brawn(Whom I use as my G1 Brawn.) so I'm a-okay with me not having this mockery. Yay.
Barricade24
I really think this figure is dull. No offense to anyone who likes it but it just isn't much in my opinion.
Kaijumaster
it's a very nice headsculpt on a body that makes no sense...an easy pass, out of a collection of winners so no real hate on the design team.
MindChamber
gross..

headswap cashgrab.
Timesynch
Nice head sculpt but man did Brawn put on some weight. XD The Bulkhead mold is just wrong for his body. iGear Hench all the way please.
Starfire22
They could've used that head on the firetrap mould.
Grimlock_13
SO poorly done.

Not bad...but I'm not really feeling Brawn from the FE Bulkhead mold. I actually like FE Cliffy as Generations Cliffy, but this one is hard to swallow.

Anyways.....yeah. I still don't like that head.
Stygian360
That is NOT Brawn. The profile is all wrong and that's just for starters. I commend Hasbro/Takara for creative mold re-use and getting out yet another fan demanded character, but this ain't the right mold for this guy IMHO.

That's actually a really good way to put it I think.

The body is just too Bulkhead-y. I'm all for creative use of repaints to get us a proper animation-esque Brawn, but the head HAS to be small to work with this mold, it's just overall huge instead of "small-medium size but bulky" like the character, and the chest design is just too uniquely Bulkhead. It fails to work for all the reasons that FE Bulkhead does work.

Generations Cliffjumper works IMO because:
1) It's Prime Cliffjumper into G1 Cliffjumper. Everything is already in the right place: car roof into chest, etc, and his proportions are right. No color layout problems. Everything else could practically be the usual "Classics" visual liberties.
2) Prime Cliffjumper was a virtual cameo. He's not a lead character. So it's not as distracting to see his body on the "wrong" shelf.

Bottom line, Brawn and Bulkhead, though they were created years apart, are both distinct characters with identity and staying power across multiple Transformers franchises. One into the other doesn't work as well as Cliffjumper into Cliffjumper.
Gammatron 64
Oh, dear. Brawn really let himself go. I guess he ate a little too much robot chicken.
YoungPrime
God no... Please don't factor that horrible thing into the Generation's line.

Give it to the Shrek-former lovers and give the rest of us a "real" Classics version of Brawn!

Stop jerking us around Hasbro!
Mixmastah
Meh, I'll stick the the Legends from the universe line
