Generations Sky-Byte is officially out in the wild, dropping in Hong Kong last week and set to start trickling out to US retailers later this month. I personally couldn’t do the slow torturous waiting game, not knowing if my local spots would even stock him since they’re still sitting on piles of Blitzwing and Springer. It’s been a good run for RID this month, first PEDX04, then our Lucky Draw Fire Convoy, and now Generations Sky-Byte. Check out over 60 HQ shots of him at his gallery link below, then discuss on the forums!

I'm happy to finally get a Sky Byte

THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN! Make it happen, Hastak!
Autovolt 127
I could get behind that.

That might not be bad. I could handle a Voyager-sized Fire Convoy, even if it was some kind of all-in-one transformation that goes straight into Super Fire Convoy mode with a removable helmet/swappable head or something.
That said, you have a great point and I'm not holding my breath. I feel like HasTak isn't in a big hurry to show CR too much love in this series for whatever reason, and I'm not reasonably expecting any further showing of these guys unless the comics suddenly decide to throw in IndyHeat and WreckerHook for some reason. The TFWiki mentions CR wasn't as big in Japan as RiD was here, is that true? Could it just be an issue of Americans looking more fondly upon RiD (and even then it seems to have fewer supporters than Armada)?

I still can't believe the panels on his legs don't close. I mean, they look like they should.

eh, while its a great homage to the original toy, I still much prefer the metallic and realistic shark mode of the original Skybyte from the Car robots/ RID line anytime.

It's Skybyte so pass.

I doubt they have the budget to make a proper RID Prime / Magnus upgrade. They would have to be the same size or bigger, which they won't do since everything has been downsized. They'd have to keep the same level of articulation or increase it, and they have a crap ton (minus magnus legs). They'd have to address the faults they had so it's worth it (like Magnus legs, top heavy Omega Prime, etc). Which would require additional engineering. And, of course, they'd have to combine.
I'm not saying they can't, just saying I doubt they would dump that much into them, to do it right.
That being said, I think if they kept them basically the same, removed electronics, and downsized them to voyager class, or deluxe in voyager box since they're trucks with trailers, that could be interesting.

The original Destronger molds are still pretty cool, but seeing how they treated Sky-Byte, I want as many CR dudes as possible in Generations.
Imagine a Generations God Magnus! What if his legs actually bent?!

Putting Optimus armor on Sky Byte is clever
Feralstorm
I certainly don't hate it so far. However, some of these group photos have me thinking…
… I'm ready for Generations Gas-Skunk.

I really think I'm gonna pick him up if I see him, always loved the shark bots, had both the old Sky-Byte and Energon Sharkticon.
SoundBlaster7
I think I'll pass on this one. It's not that much of a improvement over the original which I already have.
General Magnus
It is IDW inspired, that´s good enough for me.
Catatronic
I LOVE sharks & wanted to buy every one they made. But I hate pre-posed sharks so I'll have to pass. If they would make a shark just swimming straight ahead like the original Cybershark I'd be all over it.
Big Convoy XIII
I'm more of a fan of the original RID Sky-Byte.. But even still I loved RID, so I'll most likely pick him up if I see him..! as it is I recently picked up Whirl from Generations.
Autovolt 127
Love Sky-Byte's Optimus cosplay.
Even if this toy isn't the greatest, I'll still pick it up.
PredaconElder
What a terrible toy. All these photographs have done is convince me that the original one repainted from TM2 Cybershark is still the best Sky-byte figure.
What a sad outcome that in 2014, Hasbro has been outdone by stuff they put out more than a decade ago.
Robogeek28
I'm liking this guy more and more.
If TakTom makes one with better paint apps I may cave.
heltskelt
It's so hollow; it could also serve as a piñata.
