Earlier this week we shared with you 2005 Boards member TCracker's review of Generations Fall of Cybertron Jazz and Shockwave. Today, it's Prime time - Optimus Prime that is. Rounding out the first wave of toys based on the upcoming Fall of Cybertron video game is a new Deluxe class Cybertron mode Optimus Prime. How does he measure up compared to his wave mates and to the excallent War for Cybertron version from 2010? I can't get over that dumb design. Fatimus Prime is more like it. And dat pelvic thrust.

Toy seems okay but looks way inferior compared to WFC Prime.

I don't like the huge red gap between the windows. It's just pointless and makes him look fatter than he really is.

he has a simplicity and chunkiness i find appealing. looks to be a good toy just to fiddle with while watching tv or something.

wish the head looked as nice as wfc prime's. wfc prime has what is easily one of my fav optimus head sculpts.

Im gonna wait for magnus but i gotta admit there something appealing abt the simplistic/kibble free design compared the WFC prime.

I can see some potential here with some good reprolabels love!

Middle window, some glow strips, some circuitry detailing perhaps.

Addendum - Seems I missed out another step. the Smokestacks folds down in bot mode and folds up in Truck mode.
Here are the corrected pics. It doesn't really affect transformation, whether it is up or down is a matter of preference.

Lol at the back fake wheels. Again, better than expected. Will probably get it at sale price even though I am confident there will be a voyager version eventually.

He looks cool. Definitely a step back from WFC Optimus, but still a great looking figure. I'll be picking him up if i see him.

Wow, that's some odd dedication to...something...bothering to sculpt fake wheels into his back.

I dunno. On one hand, the video game continuity already has a Prime toy that is "wizards did it" great. This new Prime toy obviously can't touch that old one. FoC character designs also just kind'a suck in general compaired to WfC.

On the other hand I buy Optimus Prime toys until they shoot out of my ears, because...Optimus Prime.

There is something about this mold that find great but at the same time kind of lame

I like it, for sure. It's Optimus, and recognisable as such, but there's a certain...quirkiness to it that works for me.

I don't get the complaint about the gun lacking visual heft, though; if anything, I think WFC Prime's tiny rifle looks rather anemic compared to this guy's weapon.

I think it's better than the WFC toy and it's actual game model on FOC. WFC Prime is alright, but I wish he was more bulky and his back kibble really detracts the look of the figure to me.

Not gonna lie here. If I didn't know any better, I'd think this was a KO Rescue Bot with custom hips.

On photos the plastic always looks like the cheap plastic of knock-offs. In your pictures he kinda looks better, but I still prefer WFC Prime and will only get Magnus.

Me too. Would be nice to see FOC Prime next to WFC Prime so that I can prepare myself on how Magnus will look beside WFC Prime

For some reason the blockiness, especially in alt mode, really appeals to me. Must be a G1 thing. That truck mode really looks like a precursor to the g1 truck mode (shoehorned continuities be damned!). Could do without the fatness in bot mode but there is room on my shelf and in my heart for another Fatimus.

engineering just seems like such a step back, overall, too. everything is small and hollow and cheapy lookin :I

Agreed. I see bad assery in the WFC Optimus figure, and it did take me a long time to fully apreciate it, I wasn't warmed up to it right away.

This one however...it doesn't strike me as WFC Optimus did..though it took me a while to warm up to WFC Optimus, I did dig the sculpt I just wasn't a fan of it being a deluxe. This one seems as much of a step back from WFC as Prime RiD is from the First Edition line.

The toy looks great because it looks exactly like the game model. The problem is the game model looks like a turd.

This looks like the best of wave 1 to be honest *ducks at someone throwing a Shockwave*.

Kinda glad I ordered Focimus now....and he should be here any day!

i actually like it more now than i did, seeing him in some action poses helps sell him for me

but im curious to see what takara brings to the table for the deco on this line

Not bad but it seems these FOC figures need their own display due to their tiny size.

Looks like a fun toy to pose and transform, more so than WfC Optimus. But WfC is a better design, and a prettier toy.

Of course, this is the beauty and the genius of the Ultra Magnus retool coming.

If anyone remembers OP's transformation sequence during the interview with Peter, that might explain why they had to sacrifice the back wheels and put them on his arms.

I'm surprised how nice this Prime looks in these pics. Hasbro seems to be deadset on Easy Transformations, and more robot Articulation than normal. Though leaving the smokestacks up in robot mode would be my preference. Folding them down does'nt really hide them. It just draws your attention to the pieces that aren't out.

Yeah. I'll buy a couple of these. Its a good deluxe with some custom possibility's. For example I'm considering a cybertron form Trailbreaker.

Interesting, from the side this Optimus' head looks good. But looking from the front, I don't like his face. WFC is far superior.
