By way of the Allspark's Facebook page, we can bring you the first images confirming that a toy of a Generations Deluxe Class Dreadwing is in the works. A reuse of the IDW stealth bomber Megatron mold with a new head, this Dreadwing has been spotted in IDW's Robots in Disguise in scenes showing a crowd of the Decepticons, and he plays a role in the upcoming Robots in Disguise issue #17. The design is a homage to the Generation 2 Dreadwing ATB, who also transformed into a flying wing.

Stepper
Not a fan of Dreadwing, will pass this.
slugslinger2004
I like this mold as Megatron, so not sure if I'm going to buy it. It definitely looks good though
Sol Fury
Whoohoo G2 goodness! I'll get it on that principle alone
ZacWilliam
I like that they're bringing back at least guys from across the history of the franchise. G2 and we know of at least 2 BW influenced figures coming. Can't wait to see what else is in the works.

-ZacWilliam, now if the coming Legends Starscream could dock in this guys back THAT would be amazing.
[Wing_Saber-X]
Not Masterforce Dreadwing. Ah, drat.
Robogeek28
I still say this mold should've been Voyager scale.

At that size I would've bought this guy in a heartbeat, ah well.
General Magnus
I will buy all IDW comic releases, so yeah, this will be mine.
soundwaverulls
Never seen him in fiction, never had the original toy, I prefer his movie and Prime incarnations and if he's blue, I'm definitely going to like the Megatron version of this mold better. So a very easy pass.
motorthing
Ok. Probably buy one but nothing to get too excited over by the look of it. Another bomber who could have done with being a lot bigger.
Fort Max
That's hoist and Dreadwing confirmed for the next wave of deluxes, who else are we expecting to see?
Girl Pants
Totally bought! I would have liked a unique weapon, but it makes up part of the alt mode, so not much can be done there. But it looks great. Captures the G2 head perfectly and I guess this also means a Spotlight comic for him too? - even better!

Thundercracker, seeing as he already has a spotlight comic to tie in with these releases.

Let's just assume that they remold the other two IDW deluxes - that would mean a remold of Bumblebee and Orion Pax. I can see Cliffjumper and Hot Rod from Bee, but not sure about Orion.
Hot Shot.
I still hope we get a classics Dreadwind/Darkwing/Dreadwing, but I like this for what it is.
MechaV
The mold looks much better than I was expecting. I'm getting Megatron for sure, but if the colors on Dreadwing look good I'll pick him up too.

FOC Thundercracker

Might grab this instead of Megatron (or deluxe Megs will be repurposed). I just do not care for the design as Megatron, would rather see the upcoming cyberverse tank upscaled to voyager for the character. Only real concern with this Dreadwing is if the robot mode colors are too similar to Universe Darkwind (bot mode). Blue/light blue and black/grey works occasionally but could be overused. Wouldn't mind RiD Dreadwing's olive green though...

In fact, looking at The Metroplex boxart is that a Gears repaint of Trailbreaker I see ?

That would be spectacular, I'd buy them both just for that!

Personally I think Orion is a good base for a Nova/Nemisis Prime figure, which would also keep it within the IDW-verse.
Spyne98
I think we all saw this coming.
Murasame
Oh, I thought a Generations version of Transformers Prime Dreadwing

Can people please stop suggesting for a Hotrod from Bumblebees mold?
aptkane
Seems like a natural reuse of the mold. I'm sure I'll get him, but he's a third tier character at best so its hard to get all hot and bothered for him.

Now Takara Ratbat on the other hand......
TCJJ
That's neat. I think I'll probably buy this over Megatron.
Cyber-Scream
I wish this mold was voyager class.

Rodimus also from Orion too.

It's either Trailbreaker or Skids.
shibamura_prime
G2 decals, please and thank you.
RatTrap1985
Nice! Can't wait for final colors.
TriBlurr
Cool. Skipping Megatron for this version.

Not that Megatron is bad....I just don't have need of another Megatron on my classics shelf.
Starfire22
This makes more sense for Dreadwing, than Megs. Buy on sight.

When it stops looking a lot like one of his earlier IDW designs, sure.

-ZacWilliam, not his current one, but it's really close to the one he had awhile back.

Shockwave9227
My jaw dropped a little.

I'm a fan of stealth bombers and Dreadwing, so I'm likely to get Megatron AND this. Not a fan of the clear plastic wings but whatever.
Godzilock Prime
I'm going to buy the hell out of this thing! I love G2 Dreadwing and I'm glad that he's getting an update. Now I hope that some third party comes along and makes a giant doofy shoulder cannon for him.
JokerFC
very cool indeed!!

this will of course be added to my collection.awesome sauce.
Grimwing
That looks much sharper than the megatron. The head is very G2 dreadwing inspired. But its got more detailing in keeping with the IDW style.

Big fan of all the dreadwing toys. can't wait to see these on store shelves.
Gort
This guy is basically perfect IMO. He looks great in both modes with very little kibble and it seems to have a pretty simple transformation. I'm looking forward to seeing it in color.

I agree with you, though possibly for completely different reasons, if I have any. Aside from the Rid 17 preview I haven't had a really good look at how IDW's Dreadwing scales with other characters.

On the other hand, Megatron is a far more prominent character, the stealth bomber design and toy were made for him first and foremost. I suppose that even if this version of Megatron had less exposure in the comics, the main nitpick for some fans would be that the upcoming IDW Deluxe Megatron should have been a Voyager Class figure, because of of his status and physical stature.

Seeing as Dreadwing hasn't really had the exposure to measure up to those factors, the Deluxe is just fine for him. That said, if I get one of these figures, I might as well get both.

I'm also keen to see what will make up the rest of this wave, or any others for that matter.

Not gonna lie. I thought the same thing.

I now have the urge to buy multiples of this mold to use as Drone/Vehicon troops

Was that the design that still made it on to one of the early MTMTE cover variants? The one with the spoiler wings that seemed to split and slide out?

If they could pull it off well, I'd like to see it, but that isn't a terribly imaginative, original or knowledgeable thing to say on my part; one could hope that for any Transformers figure, and my IDW collection is almost non existent before MTMTE and RiD.

With the possible exception of door wings, I had thought that the IDW Deluxe Bumblebee seemed to be a pretty good fit for Windcharger, if anyone wanted to see him larger than Scout Class.
Digilaut
Totally expected, after his appearance in this body in RiD a while back. Will probably pick him up if the final deco is nice! Otherwise I'll stick with just the Megatron one.

I doubt there was room in that scale. The 30th anniversary is the theme for the 2014 year in Generations. And given the number of figures Hasbro does now in voyagers (6). The triple changers make up half of them, maybe even two thirds if a Blitzwing redeco is in the pipe. Then theres that BW Megatron redeco of Grimlock. Oh look that's 5. No room for Optimus and Megatron variants.
Stygian360
I'm sure this figure will tickle the fancy of generation specific purists, but personally I like better how Dreadwing has been translated forward into the TF Prime iteration. This one- again, although I'm sure accurate- very much lacks a certain something.
General Tekno
Oooo, looks pretty good.

I like how the weapon can be handheld as well as arm-mounted - helps differentiate it from Megatron's arm cannon.
SG Roadbuster
*checks tf wiki*
well the head is a dead match for the g2 toy.alt mode just about fits. can't wait to see colour versions. honestly my only gripes would be the lack of his gigantic 6 barreled launcher. and lack of tank mode.
also, who knows mayhaps sometime down the line we'll see someone redecoed/retooled into Smokejumper/sniper/screen. methinks the Thunderwing mold would look good as that guy
Triggerhappy
the original toy is still one of the best Transformers ever made. IMHO get that. It's incredible.
Galva-Cannon
Cool! I'm glad I didn't cave in and buy that crappy movie re-deco Takara did, a year or two back. The movie Mindwipe toy just didn't work as the character, even though it had the combining gimmick with the drone. I was really tempted, despite the price, because I love the original G2 toy. It sits pride-of-place on one of my shelves, in the massive stealth bomber mode.
