Dollar General Generations Legends Assortment Variants Spotted

2005 Boards member Guard Convoy has sent us news of a new variant to the assortment of Legends Class toys currently available in Dollar General stores. The Dollar General Optimus Prime (pictured) and Starscream are now featuring the remolding and additional weapons from their Asia Exclusive or GDO Legends counterparts. In other words, start checking out your Dollar Generals if you would like Optimus Prime with a sweet red version of Motorbreath's sword and Starscream with Nul-Rays which he can mount beneath his wings.

No variants are being reported on the Bumblebee or the Megatron in the same case assortment, possibly because their molds were not altered to be issued as a part of the GDO Legends assortment.

Wow- that sword looks awesome! And a Starscream with remolded wings? Does anyone have photos? I need to look out for these remolded figs! Do you know if Bee or Megs will be getting variants also?

i'll have a photo of it friday when i buy it, its pretty much two holes in it so that the null rays can peg into the figure while its in jet mode ala g1 style

bee and megatron has no changes, i looked them over like crazy

it is the exact same deco-wise as the normal starscream in the assortment, completely molded black head

I don't care for legends, but I love G1 type Legends. No, not a 'geewunner', just dig them more. This is really neat, I may get these even though I have the RTS versions.

Neat, I guess, if a bit superfluous. I'd rather that they reissue new character redeco's, like Skywarp, Thundercracker, and Cliffjumper. That would go far in lowering the crazy aftermarket prices of those Legends figures.

I mean, I have Starscream, who already has his null-rays. I'm definitely getting Thundercracker anyway, since I love TC. Don't think I can justify another vanilla Prime, even though this is definitely better than the version I own (and love, by the way). Don't care about Trailbreaker (if they're making one), either.

Was just at a Dollar General and didn't see it... =/

Still.. not sure if I'd be interested in getting another prime just for the sword at 6$... possibly the Seeker mold just for the Null Rays... but even then... Got a few of these buggers at 2-3 bucks before so IDK....

That's a pretty awkward way to pack weaponry. Granted, I'm not exactly a fan of having blades so close to the crotch.

Back on topic, I wonder if there is a way we can find out if the remolded figs are available without having to go store-to-store. Does anyone know if DG uses item numbers that can be quoted over the phone?

Yes, TRU exclusives this autumn. Where that leaves the pack seen in the Wal*Mart catalogue I don't know.

I found out there is a Dollar General 5 minutes from my office and I went over there during lunch. I found Starscream, Megatron and Bumblebee on a peg for $6 each. No optimus sadly.

The Starscream did not include the null ray weapons that GDO Thundercraker comes with. His wings though do each have a painted decepticon symbol on them though instead of a rub sign like the RTS version.

Bumblebee is light yellow with the movie type black stripes on the hood and a big autobot logo on one of his doors.

Megatron is green with purple camo.

Hey i'm new here but just swung by my local DG during my lunch break and found a lone Starscream. How can I tell if it's is this variant or not (no i'm not gonna scalp it, just don't know enough about TF yet to tell the difference)

That don't have anything to do with what I said. Let me clarify.

If Hasbro starts giving Legends-class figures the "Legion" makeover and giving them Cyberverse-style 3mm hand holes, I would want new molds of some of the older Legends as Commander-style figures in order to get a fuller Cyberverse experience from it. =D

Speaking of tiny things - those silver (decepticon) vehicle Minicons on a Dark of the Moon card -did they ever get any distribution or was it just the Dinobots that started showing up in odd places ?

From what I've seen, these are solely Dollar General releases. Have to wait to see if Family Dollar gets these, but I don't think they've shown up at TJ Maxx or Ross. I know they've not shown up at Gordman's. Checking Tuesday Morning tomorrow. Someone else will have to hit Five Below.
