We’ve got several sightings of the duly appointed enforcer of the Tyrest Accord at US retail – yes, it looks like Combiner Wars Leader Ultra Magnus has arrived on store shelves. Ultra Magnus was spotted in all his IDW-inspired glory at a series of Wal-Marts in Texas, including two independent reports from the Luis Henna Walmart.
In a slightly bizarre, but not unprecedented twist, it seems that Ultra Magnus (who is Combiner Wars Leader Wave 3) has actually managed to beat Thundercracker (who is Wave 2) to store shelves. This happened a year ago with the latter Generations Legends class assortments, so while unusual, it is not completely unheard of, and there is a possibility Thundercracker is also in the wild but simply not confirmed as yet.
The stores to check are Wal-Marts, particularly if you are in the Texas area. Happy hunting, Transformers fans!

Here's how it works @TRU
SKN is somewhat the term for "shipment #", which is permanent for the life of the product and multiple items can share the same SKN. Example: a Transformers figure and a Barbie doll
They all could share the same UPC as well. Example: all hotwheels cars 5packs
They can't share SKU #s. Example: Transformers Breakneck and Slingshot
A SKN can have multiple skus
A UPC can have multiple items
A SKU can only be for one item

I'm gonna stick to TakaTom's release, then get the Hasbro's piece for Minimus Ambus…
I'll end up selling Hasbro's Magnus & Alpha Trion.
Well, we can't win all the time, no?

Weird that a figure came out in the states before Singapore.
BattleUpSaber
Yep. Saw him in person today…an impressive figure no doubt, but still torn between this and the Takara.
Automorpher
He's out in Singapore.
Picture of him on retail shelves.

I don't think that's true. Walmart uses each figure's UPC when checking out. Online, it has it's own numbering system. TRU also recognizes different items when checking out. I thought each item had its own SKN. Target's the only one I'm away of that treats everything the same. You have to give them the DPCI AND UPC or name when calling them for them to tell the difference.

Ordered it! Thanks.

it's july and all that's shipped is cw wave 1. i give up at this point.
TFXProtector
It's still an incredibly dumb system. For example, they get in a case of wave 3 Protectobots. We know it's an assortment of Blades, First Aid Rook and Streetwise at 2 per in the case. Even if you had these stores use Rook's UPC, they'd say "Yes, we have 8 of him on hand." What makes it worse is his UPC (or any figure's, for that matter) can be used to just verify they have their size class/assortment in stock. Those in stock figures could be wave 1!
I can't imagine it would be a terrible amount of work to register and record each figure's UPC, but that's just me and I'm sure I'm wrong.

That makes all the sense in the world, but I'm so out of the toy collecting loop that it didn't occur to me in my excited state yesterday. For Transformers, I pretty much only buy CHUG versions of G1 characters I had or liked as a kid, so I HAD to have Takara Arcee earlier this year, and I HAD to have Leader Ultra Magnus.
TFXProtector
You're correct, they all have the same DPCI number. It works the same way for all the toys and all the retailers, really.
Walmart and Kmart: One figure's UPC is shared with the rest in the assortment.
TRU: SKN, same as above.
Target: DPCI, same as above.
The only time you'll get an individual UPC/SKN/DPCI to work is if the item is an exclusive to the store and it's packed in a case all by itself. It's a really stupid system, but it's how it's done.
BBVLou
Thank you SO MUCH! Just ordered it.
I actually got really excited yesterday, when I saw he was listed on Target.com, available in stores at $45.99.
It said the Target closest to my job had one, so I called, gave them the DPCI from the website, the guy checked, CONFIRMED he had one in hand, and said they would hold it for me.
I abruptly left work mid-afternoon and tore ass over there. Ten minutes later, they brought me out a Leader Armada Megatron with my name on it, and my heart sank.
I went back to work, feeling silly and stupid, and checked the website again. Apparently all the Leaders have the same DPCI number, including Megatron. So I called four more stores that supposedly had Magnus "in stock." They were all surprisingly friendly and all at least acted like they were checking, but none of them had it.
I got so excited, pulse racing and all. Good grief! But now, thank you, thank you!

Edit: I was finally able to order on Amazon they many refreshes and stalking.
Shin-Gouki
Went tonight and not a single Transformer on any of the Pallets. But the isle has 43 Primes and Silverbolts. Oh and 4 Movie 4 Leaders. Guessing that's why the idiots never ordered CW Leaders.
darthschroeder
Yup. I went back later in the day and sure enough the other Magnus on the shelf was long gone.
Guess I got lucky!
funkatron101
The Amazon one is no longer available at that price
Shin-Gouki
Really? I'm in Boerne and I have yet to see a single CW Leader.

Same here. My Walmart is a smaller store, so I have to drive at least 20 miles away. The bigger stores probably have 4 to 5 times more action figure aisle length than my store.
