Official Description:
TRANSFORMERS GENERATIONS COMBINER WARS DELUXE Assortment
(Ages 8 & up/Approx. Retail Price: $16.99/Available: Spring 2015)
Courage is Stronger When Combined! Each TRANSFORMERS GENERATIONS COMBINER WARS DELUXE figure can be combined with three other DELUXE figures to form the limbs and one VOYAGER figure as the body (each sold separately) to form a gigantic TRANSFORMERS COMBINER robot. Each Deluxe figure is based on a classic TRANSFORMERS character and converts from vehicle to robot form, and has a third mode as a limb of a larger COMBINER robot. Fans can create a large-scale COMBINER figure such as SUPERION or MENASOR and they can also mix and match the limbs to build their own COMBINER figure! Use LEGENDS scale figures to add weapons and accessories! Figure converts in 9 or more steps. Each figure features incredible detail and classic conversion for a premium look and feel. 16 figures will be available in 2015 including PROTECTOBOT STREETWISE, PROTECTOBOT BLADES, Protectobot First Aid, and Protectobot Rook. Each sold separately. Each Deluxe figure includes a full-size, full-length issue of IDW Publishing’s TRANSFORMERS: COMBINER WARS comic book series or a collector card.

Are the legs First Aid and Second Aid in this photo?

I hope to see a Guard City repaint. Each Protectobot would have their Guard City name as a prefix, implying the original Guard City toys are actually the Protectobots.

Nope, but it's kinda neat that he can be used as a way to store the combiner hands. Those ports are going to be a lot of fun in hand.

I actually think Hot Spot looks really good, certainly he isn't a standard realistic firetruck but you can still tell what he is. Just needs paint on the wheels.
I also think Defensor combined looks the best so far out of the range of Deluxe/Voyager combiners. Assuming you ditch Rook, of course. But I love the striping.
Rodimus
I think I am going to have to see more flexibility poses and better pictures where Defensor's stomach region looks better proportioned with the rest of him before I get any interest in buying this figure. I still don't understand why they cut out such a large chunk of Hot Spot, a figure that is supposed to be the centerpiece & has to support all the weight of the other 5 toys, at the farther cost of making it not even look like a legit firetruck as the original character was. This just seems like such a baffling move of stupidity to me.
flik68
doesn't look like it.
BWfan86
so, is rook not going to have proper hands?
Vkrylian
Dude of course! Superion is going to need back up.

Yeah he does, but I will probably go with the G1 formation or as close to it as possible, I think with the bulkier vehicles a legs Defensor will look more balanced.

Wow First Aid really make for a good arm.
That's probably the reason, because otherwise they'd redeco Groove to hell from back.
Thundershot
I wish they had used one of the new Protectobots from the Kabaya kit instead of making up yet another one. Ah well. He looks cool.
Thunderthruster
Nice to know that First Aid's arm mode will work well.

Initially I thought I didn't like this combiner, but I did this digibash to see how it would look changing the parts around. Seems like all limbs except rook make good arms, with First aid and Blades making the best Legs. Let's hope Rook has a decent looking leg mode, If not maybe a 3rd party groove is in order. Does anyone have a picture of Rook in leg mode or Hot Spot in limb mode w/o Groove?

They should have just made Rook into Groove. Give the robot mode some resemblance and a Groove head and use the right colors in alt mode and it would've been a lot better than what we got.
They still could have done a motorcycle – Road Rocket would have been a great use since he is red and blue like the rest of the team. And the best part is – if you don't want a 6th Protectobot, he's optional! Unlike Rook, who is shoved down your throat.
We know what TakaraTomy is going to do with Menasor, he's going to look a lot like Superion in that they will double up on a car and give it a new head as Wildrider. But I don't know what they're going to do with this set. This one is a mess and that's a shame because they're my favorite Autobot combiner team.
Hasbro really has a knack for picking a strange time to emphasize the wrong things. When you are redoing G1 combiners, now is probably not the time to get hung up on scale. And even if you do, there are certainly better ways to approach it than things like Alpha Bravo and Rook, who come off much more as "we can reuse this mold several times and cheap out!" than legitimate attempts to make interesting new characters.
soundwaverulls
You know, I kinda like that idea.
Basilisk
I think the reason why Groove wasn't a deluxe wasn't due to them thinking of Scale issues it was because a Motorcycle would be the hardest to make into a combiner limb as well as a decent robot.
Lazerwave
I never intended to get the Protectobots. But now something inside me is telling me to get him to go with Superion, Menasor, Bruticus and Devastator when I get them.
Should I?
Predakwon
Brilliant!
Fort Max
Fantastic idea for a set.
