Combiner Wars Alpha Bravo Production Designs with possible alternate head design

Posted on 12-19-2014 at 03:30 PM by Sol Fury under Generations / Classics
10847621_748593971877466_5072151466422126161_o The official Transformers Facebook page has updated with a pretty cool compilation image that traces the evolution of the new helicopter member of the Aerialbots, Alpha Bravo. Alpha Bravo is a reimagined Slingshot, though the comics by IDW make him a separate character in his own right.

This image charts the progress of a Transformer design from the early sketches, through the grey model prototype phase and the color charts, right down to the final design.

The sharp eyed might notice, though, that there is a different head in the top right of the document to the one on Alpha Bravo. Alpha Bravo has a faceplate, a visor, and other details around the head are also different. Which begs the question - is this an earlier head design before concepts for the character went a different direction, or is this a stealthy glance at a potential alternate head for use on a remold of Alpha Bravo as Protectobot Blades - whose head features some of the design elements shown in the sketch, and others could be explained away as Hasbro's reinterpretation of the classic head design. There's also a red version of the helicopter mode right beneath the head - so could this be a tease at Blades?

Transformat - A Transformers Toyline Concept

Posted on 12-18-2014 at 02:00 PM by Sol Fury under Generations / Classics
HwnPjV4 We have something extremely cool to share with you today. Professional toy inventor Andrew Mercer (aka Caution Low Sign) got in touch with us to share a concept for a Transformers line which he created. The concept, Transformat, was a plan to celebrate the different eras of the Transformers brand with toys of characters who could shift between their classic and modern incarnations. Andrew shared this brief writeup with us to explain more:

"I started working on this concept back in 2011. Knowing that 2014 was the 30th anniversary year, I thought this line would be a cool way to celebrate the rich history of the brand. Figures that could reformat between different Generations in the same way they could Transform from robot to vehicle. That is actually where the name Transformat comes from, Transform + Reformat. Enough time has passed so I wanted to share my work with the community. I built the prototypes by cutting/pasting/customizing/painting a bunch of different toys and plastic parts, (minus Starscream who is a concept mock up using existing toys) The Optimus Prime comic artwork was done by Alex Milne and Josh Perez. These guys are true professionals and a pleasure to work with. I appreciate them keeping this concept confidential for all these years. I plan to keep working towards my goal of having Transformers concepts on the shelves for everyone to enjoy.

Thanks for having a look.

Andrew Mercer
Toy Inventor
Caution Low Sign"

You can check out some pictures showcasing the concept attached to this post - and also be sure to check out this Youtube video demonstration which shows how the Bumblebee concept transforms between his two Generation forms:

Transformers Combiner Wars Voyagers In Stock at Amazon

Posted on 12-17-2014 at 03:45 PM by Tony_Bacala under Generations / Classics
combiner-prime Amazon.com listed the Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Voyager figures as IN STOCK, being sold by Amazon directly, as of earlier today. Currently they are reading as in stock on December 20th (3 days from now).

Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Voyager Class Silverbolt
Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Voyager Class Optimus Prime

They also had the new Legends in stock:

Transformers Generations Legends Class Powerglide
Transformers Generations Legends Class Windcharger
Transformers Generations Legends Class Thundercracker
Transformers Generations Legends Class Bombshell

But, they have since dropped to a 3rd party seller with a later release date. It may be worth it for those interested to keep an eye on those pages over the next days and weeks, as Amazon will update with their own stock and mark as in-stock without notice, sell out, and revert back to 3rd party pre-orders, again without notice.

Stay tuned for TFW2005's galleries for these guys, coming soon!

Combiner Wars coming to Germany late December / January

Posted on 12-16-2014 at 06:26 PM by Sol Fury under Generations / Classics
Transformers-Combiner-Wars-Voyager-Optimus-Prime-Robot_1416041938 Some news now which will no doubt delight many German Transformers fans - German site Starblight is reporting that the Generations Combiner Wars series, which recently arrived in the UK, is also set to come to Germany and quite potentially the rest of Europe.

Starblight reports that Toys R Us Germany has confirmed they will be getting the new series of Generations, including the first wave assortments of Voyagers, Deluxes and apparently Legends. An exact delivery date is not given, but it is expected "late December, or January 2015 at the latest".

This is potentially also good news for the rest of Europe, who might also get to see the Combiner Wars released on the continent at around this same time.

Check out the original report on Starblight.

Generations Combiner Wars Deluxes also out in the UK!

TFW2005 member Bumblebee2008 reports finding the three Aerialbots in the first wave of Deluxes - Alpha Bravo, Skydive and Firefly - at a Smyths toy store in Milton Keynes! This backs up previous reports that Smyths stores were clearing space - and now we have a sighting.

Happy hunting my fellow UK fans! Here's hoping that a US sighting follows soon to share the love!

RUMOR - Transformers: Generations Combiner Wars Sunstreaker, Ironhide, Prowl, and Mirage Incoming?

Posted on 12-12-2014 at 06:49 PM by Mechafire under Generations / Classics
image Yet another toy rumor has just surfaced! TFW2005 boards member DecepticusPrime has once again come to us with some new info, reporting finding listings for both some previously-rumored and, more interestingly, some previously-unknown figures in Walmart's systems.

The brand new listings are for:

Generations Deluxe Sunstreaker
Generations Deluxe Ironhide
Generations Deluxe Prowl
Generations Deluxe Mirage

And as for listings we'd already heard of before, we now have even more evidence of the Protectobots (and by extension Defensor) happening:

Protectobot Blades
Protectobot Streetwise
Protectobot First Aid
Protectobot Rook

It's currently unknown to us what exactly Sunstreaker, Ironhide, Prowl, and Mirage are - fans have been speculating that Mirage could be retooled from Deluxe Drag Strip, so is it possible these are retools of the already-existing Transformers: Generations Combiner Wars Deluxe limbs; a halfways reference to the G1 episode Masquerade to further fill out the Autobot ranks?

We'll just have to wait and see - but for now, you can check it out and discuss after the jump!

Generations Combiner Wars Arrive in the UK!

Posted on 12-12-2014 at 04:31 PM by Sol Fury under Generations / Classics
27484286d1418403978-combiner-wars-out-united-kingdom-img-20141212-wa0005 In a serverely unexpected turn of events (given how the Generations series has such problems getting to UK retail) we are proud to report that the new Generations Combiner Wars series has arrived in the UK! We have sightings from both TFW2005 member Robotochan in North Yorkshire and my very good friend, "Emperor" Shockscream, who spotted them in Derby!

So far, the sightings are only of the Voyager class figures - Silverbolt and Optimus Prime - though Shockscream reports that shelf space has been cleared for the Deluxes, though as yet no sightings on those.

As with the Robots in Disguise Warrior class toys, the place to check is Smyths Toy Superstores. Happy hunting, my UK brethren!

This highly anticipated wave gives us a Generation 1 style Arcee along with an updated version of Chromia, whose appearance in the cartoon actually predates Arcee's debut!

P1320509 Courtesy of Blacklai and Arielprime117 we've got a look at the other Wave 1 Voyager in the Combiner Wars series, Optimus Prime! The first new Voyager Optimus Prime in the Classics / Generations subseries since 2006 is a cool looking beast with some homages in his Ultra Prime combined form to both Fall of Cybertron Optimus Prime (when his chest is closed) and also Transformers Energon Optimus Prime (when the chest is open) with Energon Optimus' Matrix on show!

This toy was one that had a mixed reception when revealed - do these pictures sway you to change your mind?

Transformers: Generations Combiner Wars Superion In-Hand Images!

Posted on 12-06-2014 at 08:58 AM by Mechafire under Generations / Classics
P1320474 Over the past week, we here at TFW2005 have reported on numerous galleries of Transformers: Generations Combiner Wars Wave 1 figures, courtesy of blacklai on TFND. And now... we get to the main event! That's right ladies and gentlemen, for we now have a full gallery of Superion himself.

This gallery finally gives us a nice look at the big bot, showing him off in some cool poses. In addition, it appears that his joints are rather strong indeed - enough to engage in a number of crazy poses (like breakdancing), which should be a good sign for the line's combiner gimmick stability.

Check out TFW's selection of pics after the jump, and head over the TFND for the full gallery!
