I'm not sure if I should wait for retail (Amazon?) ...it's worth whatever price, honestly, but if I'm just paying extra to get it first I would rather wait. Maybe Shout can/will comment more on this.

Judging from the HomeMediaMagazine.com quote below, it doesn't sounds like a "if Amazon sells the complete series set" situation but, rather, a "when Amazon sells the complete series set," which (if I had to guess) will be around the same time ROTF is released on DVD since Shout! Factory could piggyback on the film:

Hmm... I placed the order for it. One has to wonder how long the wait is for this set to be available at retails, especially Amazon. I do not mind shelling out this much for it. A box set is never cheap unless you wait 5-10 years down the line for it to go into bargain-bin prices. Yet this is a special all-in-one packaging that some people will get first-crack at. While supplies last? I hope it is a limited supply.

little to much for me no matter what the extras are. G1 was good but not that good. I loved G1 as a kid but when i rewatched them as an adult about 80% of them were so bad lol. Im glad i never bought them lol.

The Rhino set is good enough for me. For those of you who want a new set of the original series, $140 seems like a fair debut price.

How am i going to get all the ROTF toys and this?? Im only 14... oh wait now i can get a job and not have to pay for taxs and other fun bills. Now where to get a job hmmmmmm

Would love to have this set, but with all the movie bots to buy this year, may have to wait. My old G1 set will have to do for now,

I just wanna bring this to every ones attention.
I ended up getting charged for my pre-order already even though the email stated that I would be charged till it was going to be shipped.
I emailed them to see what is going on, so once I get a reply back I will be sure to post it up.
For everyone else who pre-ordered you might wanna keep an eye out.

I had something similar kind of happen. My credit card expires the end of June, so I figured I better use my debit card since I thought they wouldn't be charging until they were ready to ship. I checked it today and my bank is holding out the $140. I was thinking this might be for a pre authorization thing or something like that. At least my rhino sets just sold for $140, so it isn't a big deal.

Someone's a little cranky. Nobody is "using your passion against you". I merely suggested that as with the Rhino releases, if you wait until they are sold out, then finding one later is going to be more costly. Granted, if these DO appear on Amazon or other online retailers, then the cost may get a little lower. Without any more information about just how limited these sets will be, it's impossible to tell.

However, nobody is making you buy this "expensive crap" and there are reasons the prices for some of these things is higher (due to rarity, import costs, or consumer demand), not because the companies are trying to spite you.

You don't like spending a lot of money on "your passion" then cool, but don't get upset with people just trying to voice an opinion or help out. Calm down, take a breath, and chill out.

Mine was also charged immediately, but I'd prefer that over getting charged later when I may or may not have any money available in the account. I think it may be an exception due to the higher cost of the set, but I'd be interested to see their reasoning if you get a response back.

Give it 6 months and it will be dirt cheap, hell in the UK you can buy all seasons of G1, the '86 Movie and all the Takara series' (Headmasters, Masterforce & Victory) in one giant boxset for £40 & thats been out for over a year.

It seems lately any time someone mentions the cost of something, someone is there to gripe about it. I'm sure if it were $40 someone would complain. Considering the individual cost of the seasons, yes this is a good deal in a nice box.

Koji Berserk, you're lucky in at least that regard. I can't recall the Japanese series being released at any point in North America and I really don't expect it to ever happen, at least nowhere near that price with reasonable quality(maybe some bootlegs on ebay, that's about it).

I think this is a decent price for the set. I would love to pre-order, but can't right now. =( Hopefully, the price does go down in 6 months like someone stated.

I'd like to know how joe blow fan prices something? Do you really have a feel for what a set like this is worth? All the work that went into it? It's not like the prints were in pristine shape and all they had to do was convert it and slap some menus on it. Long hours and a lot of remastering went into it. Some people like to bitch just to bitch. Maybe the $140 could go for some meds....geesh!

Damn... now I'm tempted to buy 5 and scalp these for $300 just to tick off all the price whiners...

The opening matrix is sweetsauce. What an awesome design. I'm still on the fence about even ordering online at all. I have a bad feeling these won't show up in retail such as Best Buy or Fry's or something. I'm going to be pissed at myself if I miss out on getting this set and they end up going the way of the Rhino...

True dat. The Rhino sets were, what, $40 apiece across five sets? How is that less than $140?

Christ, if $140 is going to break you, just buy the single-season sets.

It looks wonderful and the dude who did these really is a fan with his heart in it. He worked on me for a half-hour at his booth with all the effort he put into this set and sold me wholeheartedly.

Just got an email back here is what it says

Dear Customer,

sounds like I'm going to be buying the complete series set!

Good for US and Canadian customers... but bad for everyone else. I'm from AU and would gladly pay the asking price plus shipping. Shout! however don't ship to other countries which is a real shame.

I got an email today from the transformers club about a $5 offer they are doing for being a club member. Yay for saving money!

Got it preordered. It's worth it. Might as well get the entire series in one go as opposed to buying singles. 'Cause, the complete set has more extras than the single season sets, right? Not to mention the magnets and book that comes with the set... it's definitely worth it.

So tempting...

I'm tempted to get this and GI Joe, but I just know Amazon and others will have them for $99 or so later.

Where did you see it was already in your city? I didn't get a tracking number or anything.

But I did not receive a Tracking number. I checked online through myexpresscheckout, but no tracking info was supplied there either.

Just got mine, also after getting the shipping notice yesterday! The set is beautiful. I'm so glad I'm off the next two days so I got a little marathon to do.

i just got mine as well . I thought there was supposed to be a book of fan art.But it is pretty cool, cant wait to sit around and watch them after a fat blunt this weekend.

I just received mine today and it is a REALLY NICE package. i can't wait until I get the G.I. Joe next week probably!!! Pics attached...

This is weird for me so I do not know if this was a known problem or a printing error. One of the first episodes I wanted to watch was Call of the Primitives and I had trouble finding what disc it was on. Then again, I was blind as a bat until I saw that it was sitting on the final episode disc. But what's odd is that the episode listing on the pack of the disc holders mentioned it's on the previous disc. Perhaps that's what lead me to chase that episode all over the place. But it was strange nonetheless. Since that episode is one of my favorites due to its art style and animation quality, I vividly remember how it went as it was broadcasted on Sci-Fi many years ago. What surprised me a bit was that there were a couple of scenes that I clearly do not remember from that VHS taping. Quite interesting I'll say...

I don't understand how folks can say the price is too much. That is less than $10 per disc, plus all the neat extras and the packaging. It's win-win.

SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG HERE!!!!!!

I got my Matrix Edition DVD set today and it looks like the season 3 episode "Dark Awakening" is missing.

Am I wrong? Does anybody else have this problem???

Wow, I just got it in the mail today. I'll check the disc that episode is supposed to be on.

Man does it take up less than half of the space that Rhino's sets did! So nice to have that room now for Energon, Cybertron, and Armada box sets..

For the people mentioning the errors, I posted about it in another thread. The episodes on Discs 12-15 are not the same as what is labeled on the packaging. Dark Awakening is the biggest move and some others are just like one episode off.
