 | | | | | | | Transformers Generation 1 Complete Series To Be Released On DVD! | | Posted on 04-11-2009 at 12:38 AM by Shin Densetsu | TV Shows On DVD has posted an article today that reveals news from Home Media Magazine that the complete series of Transformers Generation 1 will be released on DVD this year! Shout! Factory’s first release under the agreement will be The Transformers: The Complete First Season — 25th Anniversary Edition. The set is slated for June 16 (prebook May 19), a week before the big-screen debut of the Michael Bay-directed feature film sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, due in theaters June 24.
The $29.99 three-DVD set will include the original broadcast versions of all 16 episodes from the 1984 season in the intended storyline order, with remastered picture and a new stereo soundtrack created from the original audio. The Rhino releases featured incomplete work prints of episodes and modified sound effects.
Tentative extras include the featurette “Triplechanger: From Toy to Comic to Screen: The Origins of the Transformers,” a printable script, rare PSAs, toy commercials and a limited-edition Autobot magnet.
Foos said Shout! Factory would follow the release with special complete-series sets of “The Transformers” and “G.I. Joe” later this summer.
The complete series sets will contain additional bonus content above and beyond the bonus content featured on the individual season sets.

Seeing as they are releasing the 1st season of Transformers by itself, I hope they release the the rest of the seasons individually in 2 parts. I own S1, S2 part 1 and S3 part 2/S4 by Rhino. I would like to complete S2 and 3

Matterzero:
This is so bought when it comes out. Shin-Gouki:
I am just going to have to be patient (Hard for me) and get the complete series sets when they come out.
Faust:
Feck Yes!
Rhino sets can all die bloody!
Switch625:
Tempting... very tempting.
Nutcrusher:
Must have. Movie figures be damned. This is my new priority.

"The complete series sets will contain additional bonus content above and beyond the bonus content featured on the individual season sets"
After the individual season sets have been released it looks like they will package it all together with additional content. I for one will have to wait for the complete series!

restored to the original broadcast versions with a new stereo soundtrack created from the original audio
| Uh-oh.
The Metrodome and Madman releases of G1's first season used the Maverick release's video, which used the Broadcast masters (tape used for television broadcast, the one that you saw as children). It's not in great condition, looking considerably worse than the pre-production master Rhino used. I hope Shout Factory cleaned up the video somehow.
Yay on the original audio, though. Rhino's audio track is absolutely horrid. Even more horrid is when Rhino and Magno (the production studio that recorded the new soundtrack) lied and claimed the sound was always there, just that we our televisions were too crap to hear them.
Bgrngod:
God I hope they make them in huge quantities so they aren't a pain in the ass to find.
LemonPrime:
Well, I'm glad this news came out before the season 1 set is officially released. I can imagine the fan fall-out if we found out about a "complete series" set after buying the 1st season. I hope more info pops up soon.
Skywave:
I'm positively waiting for the full set instead of season boxed set. I don't see the point of releasing seasons separatly for old stuff like this. And I hope it's better that the rhino set too, from what I saw it was awefull, so many error (and the sound in the intro, uggh!).
_Galvatron_:
Finally, a propper re-release of the entire US G1 series!
Now I can delete the 8GB of G1 episodes on my external HD and watch them in DVD quality.
This is so bought the first week it is released! Yes!
Runamuck:
$29.99 now? Before it was $24.99.
Oh, well. It's still not that bad of a price. I hope these are better than the Rhino versions.
signals3:
Now if only we could get Toei to reanimate all of the AKOM stuff........
Darth Grimlock:
Will definately be looking into these and the Joe sets. Means my Asian set can be for display rather than fighting to turn on the english tracks.
toyman:
Anyone want to take a guess at what the retail price on this full series set will be? I'm thinking between $100-$120.
Johnator:
I am definitely getting the complete series and the whole GI Joe series. Best news of the month!
toyman:
I guess it won't matter what the price is though, since I'll be saving money with the absence of TF:Universe in the stores.
Chris McFeely:
Shout Factory? That is the best news EVER.
Railguard:
That sounds great!!!
hotspot_2001:
News that they are going to release the entire GI Joe series as a part of this is the best thing I've ever heard. I can't wait to get my hands on that.
lt.jdavid:
That'll go nicely with my cybertron and energon box sets now if they would just re-release armada in one box Solrac333:
Ok great. Are the going to release them in volumes AND THEN a whole boxet after the volumes are out?
OptimusSolo:
I am going to be broke after this summer!!!
I do not care what the cost of them is going to end up being I am definitely buying the complete series of TF and GI JOE. I have been waiting on a new release of these for a long long time.
I am very happy they are going with the original broadcast with the better soundtrack and CANT wait to see what extra features the complete series sets have...
So lets review, movie tickets to Star Trek, Terminator, Angels and Demons, Xmen, Transformers, GI Joe and complete DVD sets of TF and JOE. I believe that will set me back about at least $350.

I would think that would mean either they are releasing all the individuals at the same time, or it will be released before the last few seasons but i cant really see them doing the second option there.
I thought these other lines from that story were interesting as well
“I think one of the things that attracted Hasbro to us was they knew we could move fast on these DVDs, but not sacrifice quality,” Foos said.

I believe that will set me back about at least $350. | Lol dont waste your money on Wolverine. Its going to suck just like the first 3 movies. Ryan Reynolds isn't a bad choice for Deadpool, but only wearing a red tanktop instead of his suit is lol. I really hope Fox loses it's rights to destroying the X-men soon.
As far as this topic is concerned, I can't for the box set. I'm so tired of youtubing the episodes on my ps3.
T-money:
Yes, indeed...youtubing is getting old. Looking forward to the full release of G1 on DVD.
Motor_Master:
So now I have no motivation to buy the G1 DVD season sets, I'll just wait for the complete release for both GI Joe and TF. Hopefully enough people will unwittingly buy the season sets so they'll still release the complete sets. Though given the close release dates I wonder if they'll release just Season 1 of each series and then do the complete series release?
Rodimus Major:
Cool. Looks like I can cancel my preorder of season 1 and just get the whole series at once. BustaJesse:
I'm probably going to get the complete series set. I already have the Rhino sets, but I'll bite anyway.
polystyleneman:
I'm glad the news is finally out. I'd encourage everyone to buy the complete set, it'll be worth it.
Takun:
I dont really see the big deal - the entire series has been out on DVD for ages now. I got mine more than a year or so ago - it was in 2 cases, inside a metal tin. About 17 discs with some bonuses on the last one, and the box the tin came in was styled like an old G1 Transformers box, with tech specs and the like. So... why's this release getting the hype it is?

(One thing Im not fond of is how if they have something to do with it, they make you know it.) But ipso facto, this certainly isnt the first time the entire G1 series has been available in one collection.

This release will fix that.
PredaconX:
Yea i purchased the chinese "G1 Box set" with all episodes, including the animated movie and a few other goodies. So i cant wait to see what other additions this set will have in it and will it be worth buying over the copy i already have.

Because the series has not been commercially available at retail in the United States for several years, and has NEVER been available there in a complete series set.
