Unfortunately it looks like the Transformers Generation 1 cartoon will no longer be available to stream on Netflix starting this January 1, 2015. According to an article on The Gothamist, the original Transformers show will conclude its stint on Netflix, among many other non-Transformers related movies and TV shows. In related news to our Hisstank members, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero will also be departing.
If you haven’t seen G1 yet, you have until January 1st to stream all four seasons! Time to start binge watching!

Same here. I always try to buy anything in physical form, whether it is movies or music, whenever I can.

This is why I buy DVD's/Blu-Ray's. I love Netflix but I also like having my own stash of favorites on hand in physical form.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but does anyone know which versions of the show Netflix used? Was it the same as the shout factory DVD release?

Wow Hasbro has a new Free Channel? I'll be looking for this. Now it all makes sense. There would be nothing Netflix could possibly do. You can all say good bye to Transformers Beat Wars and Prime on Netflix, as long as this is the case.

Dangit, I need to finish season three, and four,
LegendAntihero
At least I don't pay for Netflix anymore
Enigma2K2
THIS is why price increases on this service make no god d*** sense to me.
BigRC83
I have the first three Rhino sets. I can tolerate the sound effects.

For me, this means I should probably watch Batman, Rocky 1 and P.O.T.O. all for the first time before they leave.

Easy fix…..there are DVD sets out at reasonable prices for the whole series…plus, Im sure YouTube has most of these episodes posted…rarely have I ever searched for one and its not there…plus this isnt 1987, where if it gets taken off the air, you can never obtain episodes somewhere…don't be sad/panic/extremely upset….this too shall pass

Checked out the Hasbro Studio free channel on my Roku. A little tricky to find because it was tucked in the family section instead of the new or popular section. I'm guessing they have the same channel for the Amazon and Goggle streaming sticks but since I don't own those I don't know for sure.
So on this free channel it's Transformers G1, Beast Wars, Transformers Energon, Transformers Armada, Transformers Cybertron, and Transformers Animated. Oddly no Transformers Prime or Beast Machines on the Hasbro channel. GI Joe has A Real American Hero, Sigma 6, and Renegades.
Ads, but hey it still beats getting up and digging out DVDs and if you don't have the DVDs well hey it's watching it for free with having to pirate. Navigation was simple since there is a nice big picture of each series and then picking the season and episode you wish to watch.
A bit of speculation on my part but I'm going to hazard a guess that Hasbro did not renew it's deal with Netflix so that people would add the Hasbro Studio channel app instead.

Just wondering if it was Canada or New Jersey.
Avatar is on Amazon Prime.
They have the first two seasons of Korra, too.
And, yeah, I'm really surprised at everyone who thinks that Netflix is just some online storage space for every single show and movie for all eternity.
Hasbro Arcade?

In a magical unicorn world where everything is free, yes.
But say only 1000 people are watching TF a month, that's like 8000 in subscription dollars. If the license costs you 10000 a month, it is not cost effective to keep paying for the license.
These are all made up numbers, but it gets the point across. It's not like they're arbitrarily taking stuff off. Everything costs money, and needs to provide a return on investment to be a viable usage of a limited budget.

Good lord, could you be more on the nail. I thought I was the only one who thought the entire first season was god awful. All of the animation errors, Autobots flying in the air, then magically they no longer know how. I think Transformers Prime is the best of any Transformers series to date. G1 definitely ushered in what we have now, but thank god the show was cancelled. I'm sure a bunch of people are going to hate on me, but the bayformers shit on G1.

Haha! Poor Alucard77! No one has the time or energy to read back a couple posts? He's telling you how to legitimately get the show for free!!!
Digilaut
Welcome!
If you don't feel like downloading them illegally, I think your best bet would be Youtube. That's still not legal, I know, but I think most episodes are up there to watch.
Arie
It was not available on Netflix in The Netherlands and I have it on DVD, so not an issue for me.

It's just my opinion. But it's my guess that one will get more customers if your company is known for having the most content on your streaming service. Against the current competition, (Hulu, Amazon Prime) being the best gives you your return. Everyone wants to spend on and support what is the most awesome, in this case a streaming service that has content that they want. But again this is just my thoughts on the subject….my opinion…that's it, nothing more.
Ramsey
That's too bad. I was starting to watch them with my 5-year old and he's learning about the character names and such Anyone know where I can legitimately get them digitally?
My first post on the forums. I didn't realize how many awesome community TF sites there were

If you're a true capitalist, you wouldn't believe in spending money on something that isn't giving you a return on your investment.
Your business plan would make you bankrupt in no time.
