So totally just preordered the Thundercracker and Skywarp I couldn’t possibly pass them up. I’m debating on Metroplex. Looks like I don’t have the G1 Metroplex but I am not sure I actually need this encore…I don’t think I actually ever liked this TF. Must be why I didn’t pick it up in the 80’s.

NOW BRING ON TRYPTICON. CITY-BOY NEEDS SOMEONE TO PUNCH.
Don't assume the rubber tires. It might be easier for them just to slap on some plastic tires nd call it a day. I do hope it comes with the rubber tires though.

Takara has never put plastic tires on a reissue toy that originally had rubber tires though.

First I finally obtain an Omega Supreme. A month later an Encore is announced. Second I purchase a Metroplex. Two months later that will have an Encore. It would be hilarious if I purchase a Trypticon/Fort. Max. Then later that will have an Encore release. Oh well it is great that Metroplex will be re-issued for collectors who do not have one. It is worth the $$$. BTW, Takara should release some of the combiners as well.
optimusfan:
Ohmigodohmygodohmygawd.

Metroplex will finally be mine!

Maybe they are betting that people will buy the official release instead of the knockoff? I think that's a simplified view of things--Resellers will clearance the KOs out in response, putting demand for the lower priced KO back up near that of the real reissue, and in the end, Takaratomy will still have to split the market with the KO makers.

Plus, there are better ways to get at a KO company than competing with them. E.g., suing them.

This confuses me.
I'm completely dumb when it comes to law (and in this case, international law), but would releasing Encore Metroplex give TakaraTomy even more ground should they pursue a lawsuit against Kidi Toys? Seems if TakaraTomy can say that the KO's are "hurting" a product they have planned for release, perhaps it can help their case.

TakaraTomy's choosing their releases wisely, it appears. If they do indeed hold off on the Animated line until the magaical number of 52 episodes have been animated, then it looks like they're choosing the big hitters the majority of collectors happy.

Metroplex is huge news. I can't wait to see what else come down the line for encore.

Please buy fortress maximus.
Fosterlager:
And e-Hobby may have noticed the aftermarket prices on Sunstorm and Starscream's Ghost and may be taking a look at a reissue of them. I can hope!
hotspot17:
Holy salami!

Have all of these already but it would be cool to have them all in japanese boxes. Please reissue metrotitan!!!!! Please!
angeltread:
how much did i love my metroplex. so much so i remember exactly when i got him as a kid. feb. '86 on a friday from a KB; unboxed him right on the kitchen floor. had it all over omega (which i had just got for christmas).

and it must have the chrome and rubber tires. i'll settle for nothing less.

as for why takara is releasing it? don't know, but i'm glad they are. seems to me it's easier to give fans what they want and make a profit than to start lawsuits that are always long, drawn out, and expensive. how many in this thread already have said they're glad they waited for a takara release.

You don't need to show lost profits to get an injunction against someone's copyright infringement. You just need to show a valid copyright and that someone is using the copyright without permission. That's all you need to get a court to tell them to stop.
grock35:
sweet i'm happy i did not go for the ko metroplex...i'm still going to get the pink metrotitan tho...simply because i think the pink makes an interesting contrast....i'm also hoping for an ehobby red metrotitan and a possible future fort max
ikado:
I wonder what Takara Tomy will do to entice me to by reissues of toys I already have originals of? Anime colored Thundercracker and Skywarp? Clear E-Hobby versions? Metro Titan would be awesome.
Severus:
Awesome. I'm SO glad they've decided to really get the Encore line rolling. I missed out on most of the reissues the first time around, so I'm loving this, even if my wallet isn't.

My only problem now is setting up a display case worthy of all this shiny G1 goodness!
alien:
i had a stronger sigh that one day they will release Trypticon, fort max, scorponok, and all combiner. YEAH~~
Jeremy.B:
Let's see...either buy KO Metroplex for 90 bucks, or REAL Metroplex for 87?

HMMMMMM....

The problem is you need the government where the offending business is to put the injuction. China on the surface claims to subscribe to international trade laws but doesn't enforce copyright infringement. Pretty much there is no chance to touch the KO makers in China. If they were somewhere else, they would be skunked by now.

No, you're wrong.

There is a distinction between a criminal prosecution for copyright infringement and civil litigation over it. For criminal prosecution, yes, you need a lot of government involvement. In particular, you need help from law enforcement--i.e., Chinese police/feds. However, for civil litigation you don't need government involvement beyond the court system, which obeys international copyright law. In other words, as long as it's civil litigation, the only obstacle is the cost of international litigation. (And it would be civil litigation.)

METROPLEX!?

Shit. No way is HE gonna fit on my shelf. It's crowded as it is.

As I said above, the price of KO Metroplex is going to drop a lot in response to this.
salmonman78:
An authentic Metroplex... my wallet just cringed.
Brodimus Prime:
Great news, indeed. So happy that I waited out the KOs. Never really wanted Metroplex since I have Maximus, but I have wanted Metrotitan for years (see signature), so this offers hope for a well-done eHobby Metrotitan. Take that, KO-makers!!

Also great news for folks who don't own the original Seekers. My wallet is very happy that Screamer, Cracker, and Warp are already on my Con shelf.
Noisemaze:
Awesome! I need Metroplex! I'm not buying that KO Piece of crap.

C'mon Takara! Reissue the Dinobots!!!
Liege Prime:
This is great- Metroplex is one of my top choices easily for the next Encore. I love waking up to find something that makes me happy to spend $90.
Nightrain:
I'm so glad I swore off reissues. All these giant bots are making the line really expensive. I am leaving the door open for interesting ehobby stuff though *coughmetrotitancoughguardiancough*.

is there much difference between the original G1 and the hasbro reissues besides the missles??

Your right ofcourse. But it does assume that the PRC wouldn't intervene.

Stickers and missiles. Takara has taken to replacing stickers with paint, where possible, on their reissues. And Hasbro has to make missile launchers comply with safety standards. Which means most are neutered, and a few lengthend.
Izzo01:
Finally I just lost a MIB metroplex for 100 buxs ... so this def. makes up for it plus you get the piece of mind that you dont have to worry if its legit or someone passing off a KO.
Golden Age:
Black Zarak!
Laser_Optimus:
That's freakin' awesome! First Sky Lynx, than Omega Supreme and now Metroplex! Bring on a Metrotitan (non-pink) recolor please! And, maybe someday, they'll reissue Fortress Maximus with his Master Sword... yay!
Gnaw:
Pretty sick. Now that Takara is releasing toys that are not the regular bunch (Seekers, Prme, Jazz etc), it gives me hope for a boxset of tapes or a Shockwave.

HEAR THAT TAKARA?! RELEASE SHOCKWAVE!

I agree, completely. A better quality product for a good price. I love it.

Here's hoping E-Hobby does Metrotitan.
GreenScream:
Man, love Skywarp and Thundercracker. But hate that seeker mold. Starscream is enough for me. I will wait for TakTomy to release Classics Skywarp and Thundercracker.

As for Metroplex, pass. My brother had him when we were kids, and I never liked him.
Cirielle:
YIPPEEE!

And I agree Gnaw - bring on Shockwave!

Here's hoping E-hobby does Metrotitan and( I know it's not really related to the topic at hand) Diaclone blue Bluestreak(finally...).

It's going to happen. By all accounts the Encore line is selling very well and we're getting new releases every couple of months. Plus they're not predictable releases all the way, I don't know whether to laugh or cry, as many have said it's going to be an expensive year.

Who can predict who will be #13 release? If it's Fort Max for ~$120 then the sh!t will hit the fan, better preorder that one early
nkelsch:
If you think about it... There is probably a better market with collectors for the 'large' molds.

Most of the small molds have had updated 'versions' in the regular main lines by now. Example: Imagine the market for Reissue Prowl and Sunstreaker come classics 2.0

So now take the large figures, which the larger price tag is focused at collectors already... and make toys that have no equal within the main lines.

It would be nice to see a continuation of the large figures as they appear to be successful.

Oh my god. Oh my god. OH MY GOD! I never thought of that! I mean, they did it with Robot Masters. And now they're doing it for Encore! THY PROPHECY MUST BE FOFILLED! w00t!

P.S.: I can't spell.

The bigger the boxx the better display! Encore Starscream is lonely and has since been passing his time making paper hats, maybe now he'll have someone to talk to in the display case.

Don't hold your breath for japanese botcon seekers. The E-hobby ones appear to be a clone seekers which will probably be generic seeker paint schemes from the show.

Like the generic recolours from G1 or the Jetrons? (those lavender HoC guys)
flywheels:
I'll hold off on ordering Metroplex as my vintage rubber tire/chrome thigh is nice and complete...but I'm so on the fence regarding the seekers. True I have the Hasbro Commemorative versions MISB, but if they package these like they did Starscream you almost have to have them...esp. for MISB display purposes.

Perhaps I'll just pre-order them to be on the safe side while I wait for further details...
