Longtime TFW2005 member and TFcon staff, Protoman, recently was a featured guest on the TV show Storage Wars Canada. Many of you may have seen Transformers collections pop up on similar TV shows such as Pawn Stars, this time around a large lot of Generation 1 figures were won during a storage locker auction, in which Protoman was called in to provide the appraisal for.
Shout out to Protoman for his representation of the Transformers community, TFW2005, and TFcon! Check out the video clip below as well as the full list of what was purchased.

Congrats protoman! Very cool.

Storage wars is one a&e here in Michigan. I know a few people who do the buying storage locker bisness. And there are a few weirdos. But the shows are good fun to watch sometimes.
But congrats on being on TV protoman

Even if they actually did find the bag, I bet it wasn't right during the con, if it was a week or even two in advance, of course they're going to wait for the con because it makes better TV.

The thing I don't understand is why would they?
Unless they are buddied up with the convention and are trying to promote it on their show why would they bother planting stuff.

I watched the original Storage Wars for a while mostly because I was trying to figure out what drugs Barry had done in the 70's. The rivalry between Dave and Darrell made for fun times too. But by season 3 it was beginning to look like the dog and pony show it was. Dave left (and wrote a tell all I think, there might have been a lawsuit) and there were rumors of lockers being "seeded".
Then I watched the NYC one being from NY. Again there were some interesting "characters" that kept my attention for a while. At the time my son was only a few years old so my wife an I scrambled to watch non-violent TV whenever possible. (Which is why I never got into Game of Thrones, even though it's RIGHT up my alley)
But I began to notice that they were quoting retail prices for some of the items and never showed anyone purchasing anything (except Barry,,, who was always an odd duck on that show, he'd keep items for himself.) As anyone who's been burned by collecting knows, it's not what some price in a book says it is, it's finding someone willing to pay your asking price.
You could sit for years on a "MISB" Shockwave, that nobody is willing to pay for, or you could find a loose, poor condition Huffer that some middle aged guy is willing to part with $50 for just because it was his favorite back in the day.
For younger fans that haven't owned, or seen a G1 Meg in the flesh, (and that was a pretty nice example) his arm has a screw in it at the shoulder, it has been known to work loose from play. Easy fix. But Protoman said they broke it (d'OH!) and he was there so he would know.

Yeah now that I think about it…..
why can't we actually have reality shows that are real and not fixed?
jestermon
I was wondering why I had never seen those people before.
I loved history channel but come on they showed the same documentaries for years an years, it got to where they weren't even making new ones.
UndertakerPrime
That was my feeling. They HAPPEN to find a bag of TFs while the convention is going on? Just seems like too much of a coincidence.
GoLion
Good point about it being a possible plant.
Quizzical Xenon
Dear god, I was tearing at my face as soon as I saw that lady handling that poor Sky-Lynx.
Scott_XIII
That Megatron arm is broken, there's no easy fix it needs an un-broken replacement.
I've got a great G1 Megs complete in a tatty box but doubt it would be worth a lot.
SPLIT LIP
And yet they support that stereotype every single God damned episode they're in.
These "reality" people sell their dignity for cheap buck, and act like they got the better half of the deal. They get little sympathy from me.
dragon
That sucks my first tfcon I saw one person cosplay kid as shockwave didn't stay long after I ask to his picture
monish
Gee that's is very stereotypical assumption you have made. Regardless I wouldn't say anything just because I don't know them or proto man. Just because they look a certain way doesn't make someone what you appear so please do yourself a favor and don't judge.
shiftshock
Does anybody else get a "scum-bucket" vibe from that couple. StorageWars in general is gross, but they were a new level of gross. Protoman might want to get tested for herpes standing so close to those two.
"Ye-hah! We done hit the jackpot with dees trans-form-abobs. Honey call up our meth dealer and tell'em we gonna buy three ziplock baggies of the blue."
These type of Reality shows need to die
Morbo
Didn't blame her. That neck was always a pain in the ass
Reality shows might be more interesting if they had actual reality in them. It's like they don't even try to make them realistic. It boggles my mind how people watch those shows sometimes. I guess it's great for the storage places who now have idiots bidding out the nose for old useless junk because they think they'll find stuff.
Still, it's fun to be on TV, and to see a TF fan treated as an 'expert' instead of 'weirdo' is a nice change of pace. Congrats.
If it makes you feel any better, there's every chance that the bag was planted there by the show in the first place.
Richform4
Good for them Oh wait! hope they didn't steel them. Cause I would be pist if those were mine being stored.
JoeHavok
Another well done interview sir. Made me want to go to TF Con. And, I had no idea you were one of the organizers.
JoeHavok
First off, awesome you were on TV representing Transformer collectors. You were very professional. But, I do have to say it sucks you had to do the Wow, this is worth $650 when it's closer to maybe $200, $250. But, that's TV, and I get it. You even responded you were coerced to give a higher estimate.
Thanks for sharing!
Batman
Loved the costumes at the beginning! You were extremely professional Protoman.
I chuckled when they were taking stuff out of the bag and the reactions you had with each new piece.I could tell you were hamming it up for the sake of the show but it was in a way that was not overboard and you represented the community very well. Congrats on being on TV
