TakaraTomy has launched a new website called Welcome to Transformers 2010. The website serves as both a homage to the Transformers 2010 line from 1986 and as a promotional tool for upcoming product tie-ins.
The biggest reveal on the website is that the Masterpiece Convoy (Optimus Prime) mold will receive yet another repaint, called MP-4S Convoy Complete Sleep Mode. The repaint is a representation of Convoy/Optimus Prime after his death in the 1986 animated movie. That’s right….you too can soon own a dead Transformer body! MP-4S is due out in June 2010. The Products page shows MP-4S along with three other spots designated “Coming Soon”, suggesting that there will be three other 2010 tie-ins.
There is also a Campaign page that suggests there will be a point redemption program for some unknown item.

i see…i just got myself the Asian version since it is cheaper. No comic or card. but they also claim to be limited which i do not know if it is true.
both looks similar to me.

One is from TakaraTomy (Japan) and the other is from TakaraTomy Asia. They are under the same company but different departments with no direct connections. TakaraTomy Asia has connection with Hasbro Asia.
Usually the asia version will have the same packaging but sometimes with different contents due to licensing problem. Comic books and character sketches from artists may be restricted by publishing rules that it can't be "sold" anywhere else outside japan. (if you import those from Japan that will be another story).
What you see on the Japan site is for Japan only. They don't really cover anything else that is available outside Japan even if it is the same product.

I don't understand why it is called limited edition for the Jap version. When the Asian Version also claims to be limited except without the card and comic.
Isn't both also make by Takara Tomy. if so then only the comic and card is limited and technically 4020 ''dead prime'' has been made and only 2010 are pack with comic and a birth card.
Tigertrack
And you thought my idea for a "Transformers Tomb" was crazy? LOL! I don't think I want to spend $300 for this when I can buy a Walmart edition and just paint it flat-gray primer and call him "dead".
mac&cheese
wow! what a rare figure. its a little pricey at the moment. i think i will wait for a bbts clearence sale on him. maybe 150.00? later on down the road. well if they have any left that is. they are 300.00 each. so how many are they going to really sell?
MrFX
Man, I don't know what it is about it, but that is a REALLY depressing looking toy. I was joking that they were going to do this treatment to Starscream, but I didn't expect it for Prime…and for nearly $300 if you include shipping?
SHEEEEUUUTTTT…..

Oh, a good point sir. Silly me.
DrillBIT
Well Prime came back to life (as a zombie) in the middle of 2010 and sacrifice himself for Cybertron afterwards. Then at the end of the show it came back to life again.
So "Sleep" will be a better word to use then "Dead" for Prime never dies.
John_Force
I'll admit, it does look pretty cool. But, another excuse to bring the already overused MP-04 to the forefront. Not going to get it.
BTW, The name seems kind of dated. 'Sleep Mode'? How bout 'Dead mode?'
PoweredConvoy
I'm getting him because I have the others, but I also like it a lot. I like how it's very grayish red and blue. It just looks neat and evokes the coloration (not the condition) of his body when he died.

The Crazy Collector
Or Optimus Prime completists….
Sentinel
^ Plus almost $17 for shipping. All told that is almost $300 for that figure. Damn…
I really do wonder how many people will pull the trigger. I also wonder how many of those people (like myself) are only doing it b/c we are MP completists.

Dear god, how many times can this mold be milked?
Convoy (Optimus Prime)
Convoy (Optimus Prime) Perfect Edition
Ultra Magnus
Black Convoy
20th Anniversary Optimus Prime
20th Anniversary Movie Edition Optimus Prime
…and now a Sleep Edition? Lamest one yet. New mold please.

Sleep Prime is up for pre-order on RobotKingdom for about $265 shipped via Registered Air Mail ($280 if shipped via EMS, $214 before shipping) to the US.
I'm thinking that price might be pretty good considering the base price of $222 (21,000 Yen), plus BBTS and TFsource mark-ups (probably to at least $250), plus their shipping ($15-$20), they are about the same.

This would be every shade of awesome. I'd love for these to all be Encore'd!
Hicks_Royel
Ah, then the egg would be on my face if I gave a damn.

>rumor< Some source informed, there's gonna be an exclusive set of Classic Rodimus+Galvatron+Cyclonus this year. Could this be the forth? >rumor<
Where did you hear this?
Scrapper6
If this means we get G1 Encore style re-issues of Cyclonus and Scourge either with or without their Targetmaster partners I'd certainly be down for that. As well as a re-reissue of Galvatron, Hot Rodimus, Kup and Ultra Magnus.
I'd also love to see them finally Re-issue Blurr, Springer, Wreck-Gar and Sharkticon Gnaw.
Those are pretty much all of the big names from 2010 aside from Rodimus Prime and I suspect they're planning on re-reissuing him as well this year.
Course I could just be wishful thinking, but a Bot can hope can he not?
