Tech Spec:
So no difference in the paint job.... whew! Thanks for the heads up man!
grayman:
Nice, but they need to bring on Thundercracker.
SmF:
Aww what the packaging is the same too!? Wow that is such a let down for me, I wanted to order it so it'll look good with my other Masterpieces too. Aye oh well.
I'll stick with the Hasbro.
Incepticon:
After all the hubub about Takara's version being free of 'battle damage', this is gonna be a disappointment to anyone who pre-ordered it thinking it'll look cleaner than Hasbro's version.
Guess this also officially kills the rumor we heard months ago that MP-07 would be a re-release of Starscream with the G1 repaint (the rumor that circulated before the MP Grimlock rumor, that is). If that ever was an idea actually being considered, it looks to be squashed in place of just using the Hasbro version instead. Can't say I blame them either.
Sammael:
Well damn, I was holding back for the Takara version, as I was hoping it wouldn't have the battle damage. Looks like I'll get the US version after all.
Mega-con:
That blows. I wanted MP packaging. Glad I didn't pre-order, though.
Jeremy.B:
Ha Ha they just took the exact same thing they are selling in Walmart and released it for twice the cost.
Deceptigtar:
Pretty sure the only noticable difference is Takara SS has a Decepticon logo on the nose cone and the US one does not.

Well, IMO it wouldn't be a true 'US Version' if it was noticeably different than the actual US Version...

Silent_Magnus:
So it's not going to be considered MP-07?
I guess that's a good thing.
SlayerDarkCross:
I want masterpiece Armada Starscream pff!
Heh I have yet to see the Hasbro Starscream in person.
I <3 my greenscream

I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised that this MP Starscream is the exact same thing we got here in the US. The USA Editions have always been the US released figures with stickers slapped on the package to indicate such.
Liege Prime:
Oh well, I'm sure there will something to give people a reason to love it 10 fold over that of the Hasbro release.

Ok, now I'm disappointed cos I too wanted what you'd wanted in the first place.
alex_kingdom:
Well it was pretty clear a while back that there would be little or no difference between the Takara version and the Wallmart MP Starscream. I'm glad I canceled my pre-order at HLJ and got a friend in the US to ship me one. However I did find the US paint job lacking in more areas than just the weathering, I wonder if (although it looks identical aside from the Con insignia on the nose) Takara did a better quality job?

Ra88:
There are people who didn't see this coming?
GreenScream:
Haha. O man this sucks. $50 Hasbro Screamer FTW.

It's not that we didn't see it coming. Hence, not pre-ordering it. It's just some of us held out hope.

Hold me.
jasonw:
I'm not gonna hold ya. Go ahead and slap him, he's being a dick.
NoenGaruth:
If it's still the same as the Hasbro one then what was up with that 3 month delay? I was really hopeing there would be SOMETHING that made it better than it's USA counterpart, heck, even just him packaged in the black box would've made me happy.....
ah well, I hope they at least announce Thundercracker soon to make up for the cheapness of this release.
Chosen:
Well, there is a mold difference, regardless of how ridiculously minor it may be - the USA edition is made with Skywarp's mold, so that it's nice and pointy and can stab your eye out on the tail fins. That and the Decepticon symbol are all you get. This stuff was reported at least a month ago.
NoenGaruth:
Well at least that's good to hear, since I have Skywarp and I'm very happy with him as he's nice and sturdy.
Also have they set a release date for him yet? or are they just gonna one day go "SUPRISE!"
PoweredConvoy:
He was released today/yesterday.
Randy
lookinglasself:
Heh, glad I got my WM SS. I just wish I would have held on to my extra.
Autobot Optimus:
According to etoysjapan.com with the Takara version "There are a few parts that are different from the Hasbro version. The pilot is now in white and face painted with skin color. (Guessing they mean Dr. Archeville) Because of safety issue, Hasbro has modified the wing and a few more parts, Takara has them restored to original design for their release." So I wouldn't be surprised to still see some differences. I'm wondering if there will be 2 different Takara releases for the anime Starscream. One of just the actual US version and one more of the GreenScream mold in Anime colors maybe without the damage paintjob. Either way here's a link to the order page with pics:

Um, wasn't that exactly how the US Archeville came? Mine's white plastic with a flesh colored face, and I know *I* didn't do it.

Oh is it? I don't know! I only have the GreenScream version. How do the wings on yours compare with the ones in the pics?

Near as I can tell they're identical. I think the only thing significantly changed might be pointier tips on the blue tailfins, but I can't seem them in those pics to tell.

Yeah and I honestly think the more rounded tips would be less likely to catch on things and snap or crack. I really wish I could have found the actual US version... I watched 4 different Walmarts around here and never saw anything. I talked to a clerk at one last week and she said they had them in 4 days before Christmas and sold out the day they came in.
