Simply Toys Singapore have posted the official images for one of the next upcoming Platinum Edition sets of Generation 1 reissue Transformers, the “Seeker Squadron”. The set collects Dirge, Ramjet, and Thrust in one single box, and going by these small images, all three have their classic colors. While the images are small, they give an idea of what to expect, and show off the nice artwork adorning the box itself.

true, but all those "year of the _______" are all specifically marketed as such and primarily to the targeted geographic area, where as this run of Platinums (Insecticons/Cone heads/Intel Team/rumored Dinobots) seems to be all straight-up reissues aside from the KO Triple Changers.
it truly is.

Really…well that just makes this all the more puzzling?

As far as all decos and releases go, I always thought that Hasbro Asia has a big say and when I think of crazy designs I think they're doing it for their market and Hasbro US is just releasing them as well here. There's a whole 'Year of the snake/horse/goat' line that basically caters to Chinese New Year celebrants that usually have weird decos. I don't think Hasbro US is making those design choices.

If you pay any attention at all to what Hasbro puts out, it isn't wacky, it is par for the course. They don't get the fandom and probably never will despite always seeming to have several self-proclaimed mega fans on staff. I would guess that both some people stretch their love and knowledge when interacting with fans and the ones that do know what they are doing aren't allowed to run the show as Hasbro's marketing staff has a way of overpowering good design decisions based on things like "we have too many purple toys right now" (see Armada Tidal Wave).

That's basically a nonsense reply though — blitzwings NEVER been reissued domestically and all these other packs have had at least portions released here, (iirc haven't the Insecticons been reissued TWICE???) and they are all in the classic G1 decos.
Something wacky went sideways there, I'd really be fascinated to know what — I just have a hard time envisioning a Brand Manager looking at that application of Orange on Astrotrain over a designers shoulder and going "NAILD IT!!!!"

Ah. Now that we have the larger photos…yep.

Regarding Thrust's launchers: from the photos, it looks like the triggers have been eliminated. That would take care of things, I presume.

Hasbro's mentality was that…oh the fans already had them and they wanted to do something different…basically it was a bad call.
Well if that was their intention gg Hasbro.

Great cant wait for these to release
Ironhide1234
Well I wouldn't say no.

Well last time they reissued seekers they were almost $30 anyhow.
I think if the pricing is actually somewhere in that neighborhood I am getting a set just to have them new and shiny! (preorders up for $100)
Is this confirmed as exclusive or will it make it to a store for sure yet?

Yes, my childhood will be relieved of many memories. I had Thrust and Dirge as a kid, never had Ramjet. This box set will make up for having my stuff given away many years ago. I have a feeling that this set will be the same price (maybe higher) than the insecticon set. Coneheads, oh yeah.

This is an awesome reissue set as Ramjet and Thrust have never had proper reissues.
Anyone want a Dirge?

I don't really have a horse in the race, i've already got the originals so I think I'm going to pass on these guys, but for some reason I'm totally enamored with the speculation about Thrust's missile launchers… its the weirdest thing lol.
Basketball Jones
If you wanted these, I'm glad to see that they're available. On the other hand, the CHUG coneheads are so good it's hard to express any interest whatsoever.

Well to be fair Takara's been using the non safety versions for years (they did it for encore after all) so both molds are still available I'm sure. Coming from Asia's also no guarantee since they had that really recent set of Commemorative Optimus and Magnus (which carried shortened smokestacks despite having the hole for the trailer from Takara's movie DOTM two pack). I mean there's always hope that Hasbro will use the non safety versions (although personally I won't mind the safety ones since I have a normal Thrust anyway) but Hasbro being Hasbro does put it into question.
Th0r4z1n3
Yea I can't really speculate, but I wouldn't rule it out. I think it may just be an issue of what molds are still viable, with the only existing reissue of Thrust coming from Asia, there might be a SLIM chance that they might squeak by… very slim, depending on how the parts are gang molded.
Raiyuki
Who knows; maybe they didn't feel they violated safety standards. It's hard to say definitively. MP1 had the trimmed smokestacks and the 2008-2009 Optimus Prime reissue also had them (even though the plastic insert actually has space for untrimmed smokestacks) yet here you have this example of the Insecticons. The MP10 mold Optimuses also somehow seem to skirt any trimming despite being even pointier. I do think there's a good chance Thrust will still have the commemorative seeker "safety" missiles though.
