Cybertron.ca member megashockwave has posted an interesting item that was found in the Toys R Us Canada Computers:
TRANSFORMERS UNVRS G1 COMMEMORATIVE SRS
($49.99, SKU: 847585, UPC: 653569444213)
This mystery G1 reissue has an estimated shipping date of September 2009. Could this be the return of the G1 Commemorative Series under the Universe label?

I was pleasantly surprised that Animated Grimlock transformed like his original toy. It gave me a huge nostalgia fit. I was all set to read the instructions like I do with most animated toys I get and suddenly memories of being 10 years old came back like 'I know this!'
MagnusPrimal
I'm rather surprised that they haven't at least tried to reverse-engineer Grimlock. Surely if any character would sell enough to make it worthwhile, he would be one of the leading candidates.
LifePincher
It's going to be the Insecticons and Perceptor. Reading is Fundamental
Torque
shockwave or devs would be though unless its Prime or Omega Supreme, ill get it-those are the only G1 guys i got. it better be Shocky…
LifePincher
A $50.00 Devastator? Maybe $75., but even that price is pushing it.
LifePincher
I know, but Dreaming is fun
Blackout
I'm thinking G1 Devastator on account of the new movie line didn't get a proper one (exept for the legends combiner).

I believe that your idea would encounter the same problems a reissue "Jetfire" would.
RoadBuster and Whirl were not Takara molds. They were licensed by Hasbro from an other company just like Jetfire and a few others. And I dont think Hasbro would be interested in doing so again.
Bumblethumper
Constructicons or Soundwave would make sense to me, since they're in the movie.
LifePincher
How about G1 RoadBuster or Whirl as a set? Although I just recently bought both. My complete/minty/loose Whirl will be at my house tomorrow
Would be cool, but they weren't as popular as some transformers I suppose. It would kinda' fit the price range though. Better than some in here thinking it's going to be MP Grimlock
Foster
It should be officially announced at Botcon, if not on display at Hasbro's booth. The Prime reissue from last Xmas was announced that way.
LifePincher
When will we know? Is there a set date?
GreenScream
Interesting…
But G1 reissues don't really do much for me anymore.
Fort Max
Sixshot please Hasbro.
Prisoner1138
Pretty sure at some point someone somewhere said the molds for the dinobots were missing(stolen) or destroyed, makes sense if you think about it, otherwise grimlock would have been re-issued at some point already by now.
Grimwing
Dinobots reissue out of the question? Or have the molds been destroyed?
Their one of the few things that fit the pricepoint but haven't really seen reissues.
Would be nice to get a reissue grimlock and Sludge as set.

I referred to a G1 Jetfire reissue but meant it jokingly and not to be taken seriously. Note the Perfect Strangers reference. It may one day happen but I don't see it happening in my life time and I am not that old.
Kup-is-Dion
I live in an Amish township, I would gladly go harvest those souls personally if it meant we got that re-issue.
Prisoner1138
Heh, I don't recall your specific post, but I saw a couple referring to a g1 jetfire re-issue and I seriously started just laughing here at my desk at work.
Oddly enough I went and did some checking on wtf harmony gold actually does to exist as a business, and it seems every year or two they either do some documentary for someone, or some crappy little movie no one has ever heard of. You'd think they'd just get off their asses and let the Macross stuff get distributed for a small fee in the US(better than the absolutely nothing they're getting now) and earn a lot more cash. But whatever, screw them, this isn't a discussion about them.
As for the g1 re-issue, it's probably soundwave or a couple of seekers in a set.
Foster
I didn't take it seriously, more like "this'd be the LONGEST shot reissue out of all of G1." We'd just as soon see, oh I don't know, BROWNING.
