New Images of MP-01B Black Convoy

Hi everyone!

New pictures of Masterpeice Black Optimus Prime have been put on an a website named hk-tf.com thanks to two posters named Kaiser and Redfish. It looks like the problems with the windows that some of the earlier releases of this mold suffered from, have been corrected for this release. The pictures reveal that Rodimus Prime is now on Black Optimus Prime's communicator.

It seems that this particular version did not include the comic. Thanks to a second thread on the site, it would seem that on Black Optimus's other communicator....is Optimus Prime?

Will there be two versions of Masterpeice Black Optimus Prime? Will the Japanese version not include the plate and bag?

It's just Prime painted Black. Didn't bother to change Faction logo, Nah I'm going to pass on this one. But thanks for the pics they are great.

Is this supposed to be Nucleon Quest Convoy? For those who don't know, earlier in this decade, TRU Japan had an exclusive black repainted Powermaster Prime/Super Ginrai and a bio was made up saying he was Optimus Prime/Convoy and was powered by nucleon, some sort of energy from nebulos, I believe. Wonder if this Black Convoy who seems to be a Cybertron and not a Destron is that same character.

I wonder if the ankle connector still falls off if you look at it wrong. This mold has several issues that never seem to be corrected. Possibly because they know its Convoy, and its going to sell anyways.

Let's face the facts:

MP01 had a picture of Starscream in his communicator, months later we got a MP Screamer.
2010 is the title for season 3 of japanese G1, which features Rodimus as the main character.

The next MP will be Rodimus Prime.

About the black prime... pass.

Convoy Black Version is a clone.... Neither Optimus himself nor is Nemesis Prime

I agree. I would have preferred something like either Nucleon Quest, or Robot Masters, where it's still Optimus, just wearing armor. I'm still looking forward to finding out what's in the comic though!

Im vouching for Rodimus Prime for the next MP.... one of my favorite Transfomers characters.

20th Ann. Prime had Megatron and Grimlock in his arm...to add to to this theory.

Rodimus Prime would make sense as a MP. I hope he will be as big as Prime though + trailer, not Starscream / Grimlock height...but I doubt it.

Didn't think I was going to like this at first, but it's growing on me.

Well what are/were the window mold issuses?

The windows on the chest didn't line up properly on the majority of the figs from this mold (ie MP Prime, MP Ultra Magnus, MP-04, 20th Anni Prime, etc). However some were better than others. I have 3 versions of this mold in-hand and only MP-01 has any issues w/ the windows and they really aren't that noticeable.

Anyway, I love the way this looks. I would have preferred a remolded symbol on the shoulder, but a Black Prime is always fun, regardless. So what is the actual release date for this guy? I have seen November, and now I am seeing January. Anyone know for sure which is correct?

ahhh.. and I was so looking foward to this. the autobot symbol KILLS it if this was only an official nemy..

Interested to see if the communicator-pictures MP theory holds up, and I see I'm not the only one. Been one of the people saying for a long time that the next logical choices would be Rodimus Prime or Galvatron! See if the crystal ball is working...

Wandering further off topic, did the Ultra Magnus repaint feature different characters on the communicators? Don't have that one myself.

This is pretty much my definition of a "lazy repaint". For a toy this expensive, I need a damn good reason to have more than one of the mold.

I always find it strange that some people need a story behind a repaint to like it. I just think he looks great and I've never had a problem with this mold at all (although I do with he could more securely hold his gun). I'm looking forward to him and I think it would be great if Rodimus was next.

If you don't like it then don't buy it....I actually wanted to only get the original optimus only but this is really having me change my thoughts.

I love the speculation that Rodimus will be next, though. That would be amazing.

The front window misalignment issue on this mold bugs the hell out of me...I've avoided the mold for that reason alone. If they were actually able to fix the problem it would make me consider picking this one up.

I'm glad this isn't Nemesis Prime/Black Convoy, as I prefer the G1 Black Prime recolors to be actually Optimus Prime.

The communicator pictures confirm this is one series of Convoy Black Drones created.

MP-1 - Starscream & Bumblebee
MP-2 - Convoy & Some Electronic Display
MP-4 - Grimlock & Megatron
MP-1B - Convoy & Rodimus Convoy

So Bumblebee & Rodimus Convoy are the only two we haven't had a MP of yet. I wouldn't be surprised if Hot Rodimus or Rodimus Convoy were next in line for the MP treatment. 2010 would be the perfect year in Japan too, because that's when Season 3 took place there.

Exactly, It isn't that big a deal.

Because "Convoy" was what Optimus Prime's name was in Japan. It's always been Convoy for the Japanese releases of any Optimus toy.

Can't wait for MP-1B, as this will be my first Masterpiece figure. That is, if they dont realease Black Convoy before Christmas because that's when i'm getting MP-04. WHAAAT!!! Oh well, can't wait!!!

"Anymore"? TakaraTomy has been doing black repaints all over the place since Beast Wars.

I really wish I knew if they are doing a complete version of this guy with the black trailer. Otherwise I'll be buyin him twice

Already have a white repaint. I'll just save the cash for a trailer for my Magnus. If Fansproject or someone else will just produce one.

Oddly enough, my MP-04 Optimus has for his 2 wrist communicator images: Megatron and Grimlock

i am thrilled about this, I'm a sucker for repaints anyways, but beyond that, in my opinion, if sales of the repaints help to show interest in the product, and (some of) the profit ultimately ends up allowing for more different molds, then i'm all for for supporting it. i hope the masterpiece line continues on indefinitely, repaints and all. pre-ordered now

I was dubious about this, but I quite like it. I don't think that I shall be bothering however. It's nice and all, but it should have been Nemesis Prime. (I wonder if Reprolables have a plan to do a sticker sheet to help make him into that...)

haven't takara's representations always been black convoy?? nemesis prime has always been a hasbro thing. not that they are not the same company, just two different concepts. hasbro has been the one to provide nemesis with decep. symbols, while takara has always been autobot and black convoy. i understand the desire for the decp. symbol and it to be named nemesis, but because this is a takara item, it is not that surprising, and falls into line with the rest of their black convoys.
