Brandon:
Looks pretty sweet.
Ravenxl7:
He looks great. The crown is a nice little surpise. I can't really tell exactly how big he is compared to Prime there, but if I was wearing my glasses atm, I think I'd have a better chance of doing that, lol. Definitely looking forward to whatever Hasbro has planned for their inevitable US release of him.
Thundershot:
Serving tray and brain thing = Loss!
Crown = WIN! My MP Grimlock will be the G1 Marvel one.

tomagnus:
Was hoping he'd be a bit larger in dino mode but I still like him alot. and will probably end up buying him when he is released. I am very picky about who I purchase but when it comes to certain characters I have to get, Grims is one of them.
Optimatron:
I hope he is bent down in that pic with G1 Prime...cause otherwise he definately isn't 12'' tall. But I was thinking, maybe he is just shorter in ALT mode than when in Robot mode. If he is a smaller masterpiece I'll be pretty disapointed but he still looks like a kickass version of Grimlock. I don't know if it's gonna be a kickass Grimlock worth 120 bucks though.
woland:
Hello everybody,
About scale: I believe that if Masterpieces line is considered to be cartoon-accurate (with some more details), this is not a big problem, as long as Grimlock will be the same size of Optimus or little shorter.
However, if we look at the line as "real-life" transformable models, it's all wrong.
Personally, I got mad about scale... Just the fact that MP Convoy was often shown with alternators it was ridicoulus for me. It's like having a 1/32 action figure along with a 1/24' one.
My Dream? A 1/24 MP Optimus e co. with metal parts... or a 1:18 line for Gi Joe...
Hicks_Royel:
12" tall sounds about right... How big is a G1 Prime's head in profile? Half inch, three-quarters inch? Either way, I'm seeing the rex head to be about three inches long. In the photo its a quarter inch. That's 1/12 the real size. The picture of him standing up is a near one inch tall...
The numbers are a little fuzzy, but yeah, I think he's taller than most think.

Wow, you may be in the wrong hobby then.

A sweet mold is a sweet mold, I don't care WHAT size he is... SOLD!!!!
Grimlock_13:
Bought. x2.
If you're complaining about scale, you must be brand new to Transformers because its a mythical thing like Leprechauns, Unicorns and Barbara Streisand.
viper2391:
I think its just an illusion that Grimlock is "smaller". It's very hard to tell using the angle and shot presented. I think Grimlock will probably be in scale with the rest of the MP- seekers. Good if its 12" as described but who knows? I'm just happy that we have a new MP mold now. You really can't please everyone.

Well hold on a second. Compare G1 Optimus Prime to G1 Jazz. G1 Prime TOWERS over the Autobot cars. You'll quickly see that comparatively they're the same as if MP Optimus was standing next Alternators Jazz. So what's your point?
And let's take this another step further; look how much Bayformers Prime towered over the Bayformers Bumblebee and Jazz. Prime's a big guy.
daviasv:
Ugh,... so torn. Part of me wants an awesome over-sized Grimlock, but the other part of me looks at it sees nothing but an over-sized Grimlock. Granted, there is more detail, but I just can't feel that this is a Masterpiece figure.
So, how do you think they will repaint this one? Kidding, kidding.
raltherr:
That is so far beyond awesome! I've been waiting on this one for years!
Silent Bob:
I’ve been thinking about all the pictures we have seen.
The concept art showed the “flamethrower” able to attach inside the dino mouth.
Assuming this part is what has the electonics/batteries and bulb in it, what are the chances this doubles as the handle for the both the sword and the gun. The blade and blaster able to clip on top while held in the bot mode hand?
This would allow for a light up sword, blaster and laser breath without the need to fill the hand with electronics and compromise articulation in the hand.
Just a thought….
crasis:
I just preordered this amazing toy at HLJ. I can't wait! He'll be replacing Classics Grimlock on my Classics shelf, for sure. Now the question is, what the heck do I do with my Classics Grimmy? Ha.
rizuan76:
So far so good still happy with all the pixs.
Liege Prime:
I don't see another person saying this so... am I the only person that noticed he's sitting down and leaning forward in that pic with Prime? You can see his dino foot in front of him in a forward position. That means he could easily be standing close to a foot in the pic where he is standing upright as a dino. He looks great to me and certainly not too small.
Rodimus_Prime88:
i just pray that they give him his gun/rocket launcher too..if they do, im sold. =]
Zherbus:
I'm already sold!
Railguard:
Well that will look great in someones collection.
Eric:
He has a crown, but no silly hat. Dammit!

That's the thing with Grimlock; his Tyrannosaurus Rex mode is so badass, he'd look hilarious with a silly hat. Like a beer hat...or a jester's hat...or a Pope hat.
MoonRacer Prime:
I like all the cute little add-ons but he really is too small. I would buy two of them if he was 14" or taller.
eriku:
So, have petrorabbits ever been shown or do they only exist as a word? I'm thinking the robot bunny that comes with the Muppets Honeydew figure might make a good petrorabbit to display with Grims.
kajobaldisimo:
i dont even buy dino, beast, insect transformers but MP GRIMLOCK must be had!
(i love G1 cartoon grimlock and i collect MPs so goodbye cash!)
Rikotron:
I'm desperate to see a shot of his Robot mode from the front, as it looks like it's gonna be a scrapyard! Head, and some of the tail, methinks.
Still looks incredible though, I just hope they don't mess up the paint like they did with Screamer....
sigh.
Brave Magnus:
awesome! The bot modes looks great, the crown is really a nice accesory.
dark69:
wow hes so bad ass i must have it!
pscoop:
Stop looking awesome MP Grimlock!!

I'll add this to my imaginary list of Super Masterpieces that will one day be released and that will have the seekers the same size as Prime and Megs and will have Magnus with armor... And if wishes were horses we'd all be eating steak. :-) |
Agreed. WAY too small for $150 it'll cost to get him.
Megatronwp38:
He looks GREAT. I will work on getting two eventually. I still don't understand why he's more expensive then the other MP's?!?! Has that been explained? They all came with a lot of little extras so that can't be it.

Incredibleness abound!

That, and since his dino mode has him basically on a diagonal, he'll be shorter in that form than his robot mode. Like many of you, I'm waiting for a comparison pic with another MP before I commit that much money for him.

Metal prices have gone up a
lot since MP Prime was introduced, as have paint and plastic prices. That's part of it, I'm sure.

This. If there isn't much of a difference between the two, then I'll prolly keep my Takara MP nice and minty in the box.
Bgrngod:
I'm digging this. Can't wait to see a painted one.

That is a good point! Everything is going up these days.
Predaking:
I've been sold on this fig since day one and these new accessories just add to my anticipation. Sure I'd love to have it in same scale as MP Prime and Meg but at the end of the day, I am just glad to have a MP Grimlock to hold in my hands.
GreenScream:
30 cm?? That's around 12 inches tall. I really hope that is accurate. But either way, these pics just keep getting better and better.
ShadowStitch:
Just in time for my Birthday. Delicious.
slugslinger2004:
Definately getting this. Depending on the price and when its released, I may wait for Hasbro to release it
artiepants:
looks pretty epic to me...

He's more expensive because Takara can simply charge whatever they want, knowing most fans would pay for it.
I also mentioned in a previous thread when the images first appeared that (1) there's no way this figure would be, per BBTS description, taller than MP-01; that (2) it would be overpriced for no other reason than because of demand or limited production; and that (3) I doubted it would contain even a hint of die-cast metal.
My first and second observations seem to be accurate. We will know soon enough about my third.
I can hardly believe I'm going to fork over $150 for an all plastic figure whose height is comparable to MP-03. I'll go over the edge if it has the same MP-03 QC issues.
Laser_Optimus:
Wow. That thing is even more epic now then the other pics of him. Can not wait to get this guy...
Bumblejazz:
Man, I want that really bad, but there's no way I'm paying $150 for a toy. I'd only get it if it were maybe $50 or $60.
MilkManX:
Hasbro has to release this one here. Grimlock is probably the most popular US bot besides Prime,Starscream and Megs.
Heres hoping to $75 or less in the US!
...please?
Synical:
OK, let's do some figuring:
My G1 Prime measures at 6 and 3/8 inches tall. The picture of Grimlock standing in dino-mode, going by head size, seems to be at the same distance and size as he is in the pic with Prime. So, sitting down, it appears that Grimlock is about 6 and a half inches tall. Now, comparing the two photos with this information, it appears that Prime and sitting Grimlock come to about 60% or so up from the bottom of standing Grimlock's feet. This equals up to Grimlock being about 11 to 12 inches tall in dino-mode. How this affects robot-mode though, I'm not sure.
