By way of Planet Iacon on Facebook and ACToys we have a look at the Hasbro version of the new Masterpiece Optimus Prime compared to the Takara-Tomy MP-10 Convoy Version 2. Hasbro’s release comes with much lighter colors especially noticeable on the blue sections and features more paint on Spike (such as on his eyes and sleeves). Compared to the Japanese release which featured a gray Roller, the US release gets a blue Roller.

Well?
emoo
They are nearly identicle in quality and color except for a slight shade difference. They are also made in the same factory, Takaras is not made in japan. if want to think there is a huge difference to make yourself feel better more power to you they are both just toys in the end no matter what title you might want to attach to it. Nice little rant though although you really didn't clear up any confusion or misconceptions on which version is better only state your opinion which is just that your opinion, while showing your confusion and misconception thinking Takaras version is made in japan just because it is a Japanese company..

People seem to think the Hasbro version is better than the Takara version, well it isn\'t in terms of accuracy to the cartoon. Optimus Prime had yellow lights in the 1986 movie, but he never had yellow lights in the cartoon. Some people think the Takara version is based on the G1 toy because of the darker red and blue, but Optimus was dark red and dark blue in the cartoon. Roller was silver in the cartoon. On both Takara and Hasbro\'s versions those details on Optimus\' forearms are yellow, in the cartoon they were red. The only problem with Takara\'s version is the eyes. If you want a loose figure with bad paint quality and overall bad quality then go with Hasbro\'s version. If you want a high quality collector\'s item with tight joints, better materials and that\'s more accurate to the cartoon then go with Takara\'s version. Some people go with Hasbro\'s version because It\'s cheaper, It\'s cheaper for a reason…It\'s bad quality. Some Americans will just go with the Hasbro version over Takara because they think anything made in Japan is garbage…well guess what?…Hasbro\'s version was made in China and that\'s why the quality is garbage. I hope I\'ve finally cleared up the confusion and misconceptions on which version is better.

Hnnnnh.
The Hasbro version would be so much cheaper, and Spike has more paint apps, unusually…but I haven't bought a single Hasbro MP so far so I'm just a victim of habit. I guess I'll wait and see if HLJ puts him on sale while they still have him on stock – if he goes down like the GX-04 did to like 12'800 yen, it'll be worth the wait.

White=silver in animation like that. Prime doesn't have white fuel tanks, grill, and stacks any more than Superman has blue stripes in his hair.

Time to clean out my tent and find a nice spot outside the Big "R"…

this. I mean really, who cares about the blue used anyway/

Scrolling down the page you can see like 10 different shades of blue, and that's not even counting comic and toy appearances. The G1 cartoon wasn't exactly consistent in… well, anything.

Neither toy is accurate. OP in the G1 cartoons was a dull navy blue, not a bright royal blue like the hasbro. Takara is the more accurate blue but it's still too bright. Neither has the white legs and waist either.

Wow, totally different shades of blue! Damn Hasbro!

Yes, it's retractable.

We get full-length smokestacks this time?!

I'll be waiting for a review on this thing. I have a feeling the plastic won't be as good as Takara's. When pictures of Hasbro's Rodimus surfaced I was excited, but when I actually had it in hand I was disappointed. It felt like a cheap KO.
Starfire22
Still want.
BlueAngel_Bolt
Glad I waited and didn't buy the Takara version like I originally planned. Can't wait till he's released!

Looks pretty good to me! Gives me another excuse to pick another piece of MP Optimus

This time round,no QC for Hasbro version
