I am extremely envious of the inclusion of TF Zone on this set - I really wish that one episode could somehow be released in the UK! The DVD content - series continued in Manga - sounds pretty nifty too.

Once again I ask: WHY does the US not get these?!??!!?? Victory, Headmasters...?! GEEZ. I'm getting tired of news that everywhere else and their moms are getting these series, but not here.

Yeah Owning Zone would be the end of my collection hopefully they will release a single dvd with it on here in Britain and also they could add a few extras from this release

Will these dvds be the dvds with the horrible voice dubs? It may not be worth it. I rather watch the japanese subbed eps. It's a shame that nobody else has picked up where TV-Nihon left off on Headmasters. I think it has been like 2-3 years since they released a new episode of Headmasters.

I believe that means there will be a subbed version on there. In fact, since there never was any dub of Zone (and I can't see anyone paying out to do one now), I would count on subtitles. Even if they are the same as the UK set, which incidentally is pretty good.

Also, it says these are all regions, so US peeps might be able to import this and run it, provided you can run a PAL signal.

Madman listed Masterforce as region 0, but it ended up as region 2.

That's odd. Why would they release it as Region 2? I thought they were Australian, which would be Region 4.

Was there even a TV-Star dubbing in (horrible) English with this series? I don't seem to recall there being one

Aussie here. I've got Masterforce in my hand and it's Region free. Australia is indeed Region 4 so being Region 2 makes no sense at all.

I think you might be thinking of the Metrodome UK release, originally intended to be region 0 but changed to region 2 at request of Sony BMG.

Yes, there was. Known for flat delivery of some lines, and an actually quite creepy, raspy Deathsaurus. Possibly the best dub of the three, though maybe that's because these guys weren't so established for there to be any preconceptions of how it should be like the other two.

So is this series good because if it is ill be tempted to buy it. I have never seen this show. I want to see it but with it in English

I enjoyed it. Probably not as good storywise as Masterforce, but very solid. It's cool to see a lot of the Japan-only characters. Leokaiser is sweet. Make it a point to see sometime, as long as you don't have to go too far out of your way to do so.

That's great news--maybe I will import these after all. Wonder if a US PS3 can do PAL? Anyone know?

Seems like Madman has trumped Metrodome's Victory set again, as Metrodome's neglected to include the RTM 1 dub, and didn't include Zone until Metrodome re-released all the DVDs in a big boxset.

I've tried playing Madman's Masterforce on my Region 1 DVD Rom drive and it doesn't work. (On the other hand, Madman's Headmasters on my Region 1 DVD Rom drive does work.) I ended up having to download something special to play Region 4 DVDs in order to get Masterforce to play.

So I think you're mistaken...

I think Deemer forgot that practically all DVD players here are region free, while they are relatively rare (at least amongst the big brands) in the US.

These sets are nice.... they bought out all of G1 in a single set, and it came in 2 plastic cases the same size as what they are using for these 3 japanese series.

As for the dubs, Headmasters had BOTH japanese and the bad english dub, and you picked a language. Also had 2 Subs using japanese names and english, you decide which to use....

Then for Masterfoce, they did only the japanese dub, with 2 eps per disc in extras having the bad english dub...

personally, I hope this set is done like HM, not MF... I LOVE setting a dvd going while i wander round the house doing other things.... then only watching when something good happens.... to do this on the MF version i need to play my cheap chinese bootleg on the PC for sound with the beautiful DVD muted

Exactly. This doesn't warrant my purchase, since I already own the Metrodome Victory set, I own a VHS (complete with case and cover) of the lone Transformers: Zone episode, and I've also downloaded it. I could care less if it's on a disc or on my hdd. This is great for those that may want it or may have missed out on the Metrodome releases.

As for the DVD-Rom content, I downloaded all of that not long ago. So I could create my own "Victory" series with all the extras, if I wanted to. I already own the Metrodome release and this isn't really any "better". You guys who want that Zone episode, search Google and you'll save some cash.

it's nice to be able to stand at my dvd shelves and see THE ENTIRE COLLECTION all next to each other... to have supported the little tiny AUSTRALIAN TF COMMUNITY!!!! go count how many people in australia are transformer fans.... these DVD's provide access to more people, getting more sales, getting more support for the rest of us over here.... a few years ago, we NEVER got US store exclusives.... now we get them DAYS after they are released in the states....

so it has FULL JAPANESE and ENGLISH (yes crap, but still...) sound... So HAPPY!!!

Now if only they would have done it for Masterforce

Having personally listened to all the RTM1 dubs myself, I still find myself struggling to understand why they're so reviled and ridiculed. Granted, they had flaws, but I didn't find them all that bad, and I believe the dubs served their purpose very adequately - namely, telling the story. I wonder if I'm alone in not laughing derisively every time I play my dubbed copies of Headmasters, Masterforce and Victory, but nodding and understanding every bit of dialogue/narration instead, just like one would with any other show.

Picked up this Victory set today. Great stuff. So happy Zone was included. Now I realy do have all of G1. Oh and the Victory set is region free if that helps

Technically speaking, no one that owns TV-Nihon's subs of these series need these releases, but I guess most folks that don't have the ability to download the subs would see the need for these.

BTW, I know people probably already know this but most computers seem to have no problem playing non-US region DVDs

Computers play non-US region, but do they play PAL?

Thats really cool because I've never seen this series and I always wondered what happened in this series. I winder if it will play on my dvd or if I shouldn't bother, it's a lot of money to spend if it doesn't work.

they have the episode on you tube, not great quality but good enough to watch if you haven't seen it before
