Just got an email with new pics of the base broken down into its components (Showing how it goes together) as well as new information regarding pricing etc.

Didn't see a thread or an update, so I thought I'd post.

Thundershot:
So... it's all one set, not three sold separately? Hrm....
Polenicus:
I don't think they need to worry about price. Given Chain bases run about $10-15 dollars each, and they're giving us the equivalent of TWELVE of them, the price is wholly justified.

I'll be happily snagging this.
Tekkaman Blade:
Considering how much I spent on hot toys figures or Mp Grimlock, I can justify this.
Grimlock_13:
That's definitely not as expensive as I thought it would be. Easy purchase, I can't wait to see colored pics!
Shadow25:
When is this supposed to be out again? Ths is a must buy.
destrongerlupus:
Definitely looking better with each update!

slightly off topic-
Does this get me a "news credit," and where's the company-store to trade in those credits for robots?
Quantum:
So purchased. I can't wait for this set to become available! Any concrete release info?
Laser_Optimus:
Nice. I'll so be getting this when it comes out. It'll make a nice display for my Classics.
Locke:
I like what they've done with this display, but I'm disappointed that it won't be offered in three separate sections. I'd be tempted to buy just the computer at ~$40, but I can't justify the room that the whole thing is going to take.
Fit For natalie:
Erm.... is that an Autobot logo above the Teletraan-1 screen?

OHHH..shoot, didn't think of that....that MIGHT be an issue....

Easy pass at that price.

Yikes. Just noticed that one... hopefully they drop it. Hasbro may very well go after them for that one.
Fago:
I'm more sold on this the more images I see. I think the price is not too bad (if plastic quality is good). I would really recommend it to be broken down in 3-4 parts, $30-40 each. That will help a lot with importing taxes... at least in my country.

And yes, the Autobot logo can surely be an issue.

I'm surprised people are noticing that now. They've shown they are not scared to use trademarked logos, since they showed off the Magnus hammer. And I think their MP trailer also has a molded Autobot symbol.

As for the base, its pretty cool. Too bad about the price. I wonder if it'll be painted the orangy color, or come in that grey color shown.
Fago:
I have noticed BBTS is finally shipping the TFC-004 set. That will give me good info on the plastic quality.

Didn't the Hasbro panel at BotCon say something about the Magnus hammer?

Are these guys the ones doing the MP trailer that was shown like a month ago? That one was an exact copy of Takara's trailer. If they are really doing that one, they will have problems anyway!

This one's a prototype. It will make no sense if not painted orange. They also showed the Decepticon version's CGI in purple.
Scythe:
This looks like it'll be pricey.

I've read different things on exactly what Hasbro said toward fangroups. Apparently, their statement wasn't targeted at FansProject, but at all the fan groups.

They are. Even the detailing inside the trailer was almost an exact copy. The only big differences off hand was the trailer is longer/bigger, and they copied the details from one side of the official trailer, and just mirrored it to the other side, instead of copying both sides.

The reason I wondered is that they only bothered painting the screens blue, lol.
Polenicus:
Fortunately for iGear, I think they fly under the radar, since their products are low-run, aimed at collectors, don't compete with any existing Habro product, and in fact ENHANCE Hasbro sales, as they tend to be accessories for existing Hasbro products.

It's why it's a little worrisome that FansProject is moving towards making their OWN Transformers, as that really kinda crosses the line.

The fact is, FansProject isn't the first group to make full figures. Another group beat them to it by a couple years ago. And those figures used Hasbro's designs from the cartoon, instead of revamping the design like FansProject is doing for Springer.

iGear isn't flying under the radar. If at all, they could be near the top of the list, since they have no issues using trademarked logos, like the autobot symbol, something other groups have refrained from using.
Shadow25:
So when does this come out?
BurnZ:
Still waiting to see this in completed colour.

I've not looked at the MP trailer (don't collect MP's so it doesn't interest me), but I hadn't noticed the Magnus Hammer having an Autobot symbol on it. Well, I'm really looking forward to both this and the CC upgrade set... hope Hasbro doesn't do anything rash (of course, I understand that they have a right and a reason, if they choose, to defend their IP... I'm just hoping that they choose to ignore this for now).

I believe the email they sent (I got one too) said something to the affect that it would be coming in show colors or something like it.
Bgrngod:
I hope they just do the entire set for $120. That'd make a lot more sense than doing it in three sets for $50 each.

I just took a look again. The Magnus hammer and flags both have a modified Autobot symbol. I think its suppose to be the Wreckers version. It still looks very close to the original symbol.
Backscatter:
So bought, I've waited for decades for something like this!
Transbot90210:
This was bought the second I heard of it. I hope it is $120 then most people can share in this experience.
Wh33ls:
Wha..? WHOOOOAAAAA!

$120-150?!

Teh Sexy...

$120-150?!

What the hell, I know I'm gonna buy it anyways...

$120-150?! wallet
VictoryLeo19:
this is a total buy for me also. dont know about the decepticons base set but definitely this one. good work all around.
dare:
100-120 for a full set is reasonable. Japanese "wall" playsets fair around that range too. 150 maybe not so much.
Shark Jumper:
Kinda pricy, I'd rather build my own base out of legos.

I'd think that buying enough Legos to make a base as big as this set is looking to be would cost just as much, if not more.
mainframe:
i cant wait to drop the money for this it just looks too great
MegaMoonMan:
Shelf space killing playset = no thank you ma'am.

Didn't Hasbro say they were going to be clampin down on stuff like this that is injection moulded and costs over $100????

This was from the post about the Hasbro product panel -

Quote:
Fan made products (FansProject and stuff) - love them for doing things that they generally would not do, however they're starting to infringe on Hasbro's IP, they've gone too far with some of the stuff coming down the road, officially not approved of at all, Hasbro is looking hard at it. Sounds to me like the hammer is coming down.

Unofficial stance on fan works - when done in fun it's fine, when they start making money off the intellectual property, it is less than okay. Full blown business with tools and retail prives of $100 + is going too far
it is getting a bit much...maybe as a really small run, from vacformed plastic but at that kind price they're just going to make hasbro put a stop to it all by carrying on like this

Well, if they do they do. I mean, it's Hasbro's right and responsibility to defend their IP. If they keep turning a blind eye than these items will keep being made and people will keep buying.

Seems to me that their turning a blind eye has only increased what's going on and the most that they're probably going to be able to do, like with the KO's, is stop the online retailers from carrying them... but those that want them will still be able to buy them... just like the KO's.

about what i expected for Price, i cannot wait. I've literally dream about something like this since 1984...

well, teh way it's designed it really doesn't remove any shelf space except where the bed goes, it just covers the floor, back and 1 side...

You weren't really using your dining room table for anything important were you? TV trays work fine for eating off of.
This set would make for a good conversation piece on a really big coffee table too.
Just trying to help ya out.

Don't forget all the extra crap that goes inside it.

I just don't see the appeal. I wouldn't want this if someone gave it to me, let alone pay over $100 for it.

You all have fun with it though. Dioramas just aren't my thing.

I think I'd be more interested in a neutral gray then the Autobot orange. I'm also far more interested in the Decepticon set then the Ark one, though the Ark one does look rather nice.

$120 isn't too bad for a set that in a 2 plates deep, 2 plates high, and 6 plates long is just under 10 inches deep, just under 10 inches tall, and just under 30 inches wide. Not a bad size, plus you get all the appropriately scaled goodies like a med bed, the computers, etc.
OptionZero:
doesn't any play set necessarily "eat space" . . .?

that's my thing, i dig dioramas but don't have the time, patience, skill or gumption to make my own
Pun-3X:
The fact that they're looking at a price range of $120+ for ALL of those pieces is a huge selling factor. Granted, they're shorter than the other base sets, but considering this is a private group, that's a lot of stuff for that kind of money.

I do hope they offer it in orange AND some kind of neutral gray, but I'm not counting on it. Perhaps if enough of us say something, they'll do a second run? Though I totally understand there may be too few of us demanding the color difference to make it worth their while.

Still, great news--I'm sold already.
The_Black_Sheep:
$120-150 for a background display? I don't think so...
alien:
So what! Buy!

Actually, I see this item crossing the line by having a molded Autobot symbol. If iGears takes it off, Hasbro has nothing on them to stop this product, since I doubt they still have the IP to background designs from G1. I doubt Hasbro would come after them for selling this at over $100. Only reason would be the Autobot symbol for sure.
mckeller:
only if this was in scale for the MP's.
Automorpher:
I need Bots, I don't need dioramas so you guys have one competition less there.

Hasbro may make an IP play if this set is a faithful rendering of the G1 background.

It's a really pretty set...I just don't have the space for it
