Generation 1 Perceptor and Insecticons to be Re-Issued as Toys 'R Us Exclusives 1
2005 Boards member and Toys 'R Us employee ChErikS has confirmed the identify of several Generation One re-issues that will be exclusive to Toys 'R Us stores sometime this September. During the company's quarterly meeting last week, ChErikS reports that the company announced that Hasbro will be re-issuing Perceptor and the Insecticons (Bombshell, Kickback, and Shrapnel).

Red Alert:
Perceptor might me cool if he came with a few Cassettes ala the 86 movie scene.

But 50 for just him = FAIL
Sunswipe:
This is good news cuz all i've got is an incomplete perceptor right now and a broke down shrapnel and bombshell from when I was a wee lad.

Even with them being at 50 canadian dollars, at the current exchange rate, it would still be about $45.00, still too high for each in my opinion.
Canadian price points aren't based on direct exchange rate. It's always been take the Yank MSRP and add 5, 10, 20. Example our commemorative cars was $39.99, US $29.99. So if these are going to be $49.99, the US price could be $34.99 or $39.99. And before you start exploding about that. I poked around for TFC prices on HLJ. And Perceptor and the Insecticons were more than the cars back then.

I would'nt complain at all at $35.
Omnius:
YES!

Perceptor is very welcome as the original was never released over here.

Additionally, for the people commenting on the $50 price tag, wasn't that price for $50 CDN as stated in the previous speculation thread? Doesn't that work out about $35 USD?

Edit: lars beat me to that last point.
*Soundwave*:
Well, just think back to Soundwave, that was only $30...

Thing is the exchange rate has changed quite a bit since the TRU reissue cars came out. Their dollar is a lot closer to the US dollar now.

For example, how much is a movie voyager in CA? They are about 22.99 in the US now
in.cog.nito:
consider perceptor purchased
knoted:
The Insecticons are really cool... but I'd wish they'd get a Classics remake with uptodate articulation.
racnruin:
That's AWESOMEI never got any of the originals of the Insecticons or Perceptor!
Easterling Capt:
expensiv..man the three pack of TFC insectacons was around 40( think I payed 42 at the time).and I belive Perceptor to as he is bigger then a autobot car.
GreenScream:
Awesome. I've wanted the Insecticon reissue for some time now but couldn't justify the going price. Now I can just wait for the TRU set.

I've always regretted selling my Perceptor reissue, so I'll pick him up as well. He's one of the better and more unique G1 figures. Maybe, we'll get a resculpted head. Nah, probably not.

I'll play Negative Nancy too and say that the Insecticons (assuming it's original 3 and not the other delux 4) will be bastardized. Just take a look at the "Commemorative Series" Hasbro put out 5-6 years ago.

Check out Prowl's super-cool chrome weapons:

Smokescreen is sportin' chrome:

(TFW2005 resources has wrong photos)

I can easily see Kickback & Shrapnel coming with soft black plastic or sporting something completely different so as to make the toys extra safe & prevent any injury to all the precious little snowflakes out there.

People tend to forget how Hasbro screwed around with beauty in the past. I'll bet the insecticons are gonna get nice white or gray parts, where it use to be chrome.
eriku:
My commemorative Soundwave has all the appropriate chrome....or am I owning it wrong?
G1Jetfire:
Cannot wait for September to grab Perceptor. Even if he does cost $50 it will be less than a MIB original.

The E-Hobby Insecticon Clone Army cost just less than $50. The reissue set might be around that price due to inflation. That's just an educated guess.

I am really wishing that $50 is the combined price for Perceptor and the Insecticons.

I especially wish Hasbro would reissue Wheeljack and the Dinobots.

This.
And 25th Anniversary Optimus Prime has chrome, too. I think it's likely that Perceptor and the Insecticons will be properly blinged.
Soundwave84:
Damn I will def will be buying these no doubt
Kup-is-Dion:
I'm glad I already have all 3 original insecticons, saves me 50 bucks. As for Perceptor, I had him when I was a kid, and somehow I'm not sure he's worth 50.

$29.99. Same as it's been for 3 years. Retail don't float with the currency exchange.

Didn't someone who works at TRU say they'd be $34.99?

As you mentioned above when quoting my post, it's definitely nice to know, thanks again

So your thought is that they will be between $30.00 - $35.00 per?
YoungPrime:
If Perceptor is more than $20 and each Insecticon is more than $10 or $30 together, then TRU can keep'em!

Perceptor for $20? Keep dreaming .
Master Sing:
Insecticons will be swooped upon in a merciless fashion

Already have TFC Perceptor

If the prices are not too extreme, this bodes well for the future

The pictures from botcon had prices on the little display tags, and they had them listed as $35, im guessing US
mykticon:
Yea, at the Hasbro booth the tags said $34.99. They look ver nice and will definately be part of my collection with the SDCC Soundwave...
Shockwave22:
Figures I bought the Japan ones lol
Master Sing:
Wow... I was at botcon and skipped right by that section cuz I thought I only seen animated & movie figure which I am uninterested in....

That'll teach me too look more closely in the future!
Number1sikko:
I love Preceptor but 20 bucks? That's a bit much.

Well, he's $35 not 20. But seriously? You think that's too much? I'd like to see you find a minty one for less than $20. Ain't gonna happen.

$20 for Perceptor is a steal.

However, $34.99, which is the actual price, isn't bad either.
