The Cybertron Phils Facebook page has just given us our first look at the upcoming Platinum Edition Blitzwing & Astrotrain set! This set includes, of course, the G1 Blitzwing and Astrotrain molds, but done up in some rather strange new colors.
Check it out after the jump and let us know your thoughts!

Second.

No confirmation, but expected.
No idea

Haven't read the whole thread (first couple pages, last couple pages), but are these being released in the United States, and if so, when/where?
Shin-Gouki
If they wind up at Ross like I suspect they will I'd be tempted to get them and put G2 faction symbols on them.
SPLIT LIP
Are you serious?
Basilisk
That Feel When.
I had no idea what if meant for a long time and my mind always associated it with this site.
SPLIT LIP
It's funny, the more I look at the set, the more it looks like Blitzwing redecoed himself to look cool, and Astrotrain was jealous, so he just slapped red paint on random areas of his body.
What does TFW mean?
Basilisk
I wouldn't mind seeing Astrotrain redecoed as this:
That Diaclone train seemed pretty cool shame it doesn't have a robot mode.
Autovolt 127
Feels Bad Man. ;_;
I wouldn't mind these outrageous decos….but as new characters.
Afterburner
And that recolor was meant to be more show accurate, hence the eye colors. It had a basis and looked amazing.
This on the other hand – the neon orange wing tips on Astrotrain alone are comically bad looking.
Collectors appreciate when thought and care are put into releases, and when you can think like a collector. See TakaraTomy's Predaking. But far too often Hasbro is just releasing product to release product. That is reflected in the fan reaction, and rightfully so.
Starscream Gaga
That's a pretty niche market though. I agree that it'd probably be far, far more sought after if they retained their proper decos.
shellformer
Some people like G1 toys for their own sake and are probably into a funky redeco.
Nevermore
I… but… If they assume collectors already have the originals (or any of the previous reissues), why release these figures at all? It's not like they still have to recoup the development costs for these toolings after all these years…
EightiesKid
Wow those colors really turn me off. I was hope my for a straight up reissue or at least astrotrain in gray anime accurate colors like we got with ehobby a few years back. I will probably pass on this now. I hope they don't pull this color switch with the upcoming G1 Trypticon reissue!
Basilisk
TFW Hasbro will redeco the original Blitzwing into Flywheel's colours but not the new Voyager into Flywheel's colours
shogun221
Except they didn't "chrome out" G1 Predaking. They just brought over the 2010 Takara reissue which already had a few minor paint tweaks from the original release.
OriginalFire
When are these guys supposed to come out
Autovolt 127
Imagine the future repaint potentials.
Bad call Hasbro. Sometimes you shouldn't mess with the classics….unless they look like they stepped out of the cartoon.
I can't even Astrotrain.
Insane Galvatron
Unless the whole train is orange in which case it will be uniform in color.
Nightrain
Whatever color the locomotive is will be accompanied by a giant orange booster section in the back it seems.
