Encore Devastator in Hand Images and Hong Kong Bonus Coin

Facebook Group Planet Iacon have shared some in-box images of Transformers Encore Devastator in package. These images show the first Transformers Combiner in his first re-release since the 1990s, and confirm contrary to the original promotional images that this release is 100% accurately colored to the original toy. (The promotional pictures used an old version that was partly repainted from a Diaclone prototype from about 26 years ago).

Also coming with this release in Hong Kong in the vein of the Masterpiece Transformers promotional items is a commemorative coin. This special coin is emblazoned with Devastator's head and features the month of release and comes in a uniquely styled packaging.

Very much looking forward to this guy as I've had one on pre-order with BBTS since like June. Next week (supposedly) he finally arrives! In my opinion, one of the all-time greatest Transformers. A favorite of mine as a child and even still, today, as an adult. Long live Devastator!

IIRC the original Devastator had next to no die cast in him (just the connectors for Scavenger and Bonecrusher). It'll probably be the same way.

I had Mixmaster, Long Haul, and Scrapper, and Bonecrusher when I was a kid, and that's all I could find or get my hands on. Fast forward 26 years later, and I can finally get the toy I've always wanted! I bought that KO from Walgreens years back to see how it all worked, but it ended up in the trash. Can't wait to have the genuine article.

Bonecrusher and Scavenger had metal parts that there legs were attached to as well.

But yeah, there wasn't much metal in these guys. Just five tiny pieces across the whole team, if I'm remembering correctly. There's absolutely no reason it would be changed for this release.

Back then we were given the idea that G1 Devastator COULD NOT be brought back (hence my purchase).

Well, at the time, it wasn't financially feasible for Takara to recreate the molds in order to release him as a reissue. The resurrection of the idea for the Bay movies gave new impetus for the release to happen, it just took longer than they had planned to release it.

i got a ko about 4 years ago and threw it in the bin about a week later, i hated it that much!

ive already got mine preordered on amazon japan (lucky i have a friend in japan) and hope that it just dont feel cheap!!

doesnt seem to have that almost luminescent green of G1, that was almost matched in the TRU ROTF legends version, that toy plastic gave the impression of quality for some reason, i just hope this encore set doesnt have that pale cheap feeling plastic of many current movie toys.

Yeah, I did the same thing, but I don't feel bad about it. It's nice to have the original, even if I probably wouldn't have gotten it if I knew there was a reissue coming.

It's one of only a very few original TFs I have - Dev, Thrust, and the Omnibots. The rest are reissues.

I would have more originals, but I'm VERY picky about condition!

There's never been an all-plastic version of Devastator. So I can't think of any reason they'd change it.
