 | | | Buyers Beware: KO Generation 1 Springer & Octane Released | | Posted on 09-07-2009 at 07:53 AM by TM2 D-bot | A user on the chinese message board Actoys has recently shared some images of the just released Generation 1 Springer and Octane knock offs. For now, he has only shown the figures loose. We have no packaged images, making it impossible for now to judge any faults when and if these show up for sale as MISB pieces.
Click on the title bar above and see if you can spot the differences from a real Generation 1 piece. *UPDATE: New boxed images courtesy of board member solitudinal. Click on the title bar to see if you can catch the differences* | | Credit: S250, solitudinal of the 2005 Boards! | Views: 5,940 |

Ruination04:
What happened?
Ruination04:
This reminds me, whatever happened to Sunstreaker? I thought he was coming out in July?
PorkChopKB:
damn.. for ko's those look great
Blitz.:
I've made my feelings towards these kind of KO's before so it goes with out saying I wont be picking these up.
But I will say seeing these toys look so new and fresh makes me wish for a real reissue
llamatron:
Nice, although really they should have just done a release of Springer's sword as that is the only part out of those two that is worth anything and hard to find.
mrclean08:
Probably the only way to get a flawless chrome tanker shell of Octane now for display. If these are like KO Mirage, I'll pick these up.

I don't think they are out except for the pre-production pieces without boxes. The boxes are still not done. I have seen them sold without.
Human Beastbox:
Pretty sweet stuff for KOs.
dragon:
dont bother me ill get them if cheaper than the original octane looks horid but this is the first time ive g1 octane before maybe he suppose to like that.
i own couple ko 1 or 2 ko combiners & computron i bought of ebay everything that came with computron was official g1 parts except for 2 bots which where kos

Satomiblood:
Your opinion, but there are plenty of fans out there that will disagree.
Fosterlager:
I might grab Springer for a new sword and gun. Mine are decroded pieces of crap.
DaveKyzer:
I gotta admit, that Springer is looking pretty tempting.

not bad looking not sure if i will touch them though so whats the betting one of these makes it past AFA and gets certified at any rate i have no doubt at least one person will try to pass them off as legit G1
Fortress Prime:
anybody know if this springer will have any die cast parts?
Janitor: Quote:
Originally Posted by Fosterlager I might grab Springer for a new sword and gun. | This. The sword and gun I had for my Springer are long gone, but I remember the gun being like 80% corroded green, and the 'sword' was permanently limp and, um yeah...

Originally Posted by Fortress Prime anybody know if this springer will have any die cast parts? | Looks like he has the diecast chest. Unfortunate, as my metal-chest Springer tends to faceplant. I wish the damn thing had actual feet.
Razorclaw:
AWESOME!
Two triple changers my brother and I bought way back in 1991. It would be nice to have two "fresh" ones again.
alien:
how much i wish this is for Encore release...
Baccala1976:
Can someone please just post the pics? Everytime I go to that website I feel like I'm in the CIA trying to decode a secret message.
NeoGutsman:
I remember being a kid and wanting Springer desperately. Now... not so much. I didn't realize how funky all three of his modes really were (I played with my friend's since he had all the TC's). Maybe it was the cool-ass G1 cartoon character in the show I liked that made me want him...
I own a real G1 Octane. He was okay, but Astrotrain and certainly Sandstorm were (in my opinion) much better Triple Changers. TF Universe Tankor is a pretty cool update to Octane, though still wonky in some ways.

I'm wondering the same thing. I heard it was supposed to be July, we went through Aug, and now it's Sept and I haven't heard anything.

Boo. Hiss.

Jarodimus:
These are the only 2 original Triple Changers I don't own yet. Might bite for these, if they're not in the ridiculous $80 ballpark that the previous G1 repros were. Much rather have Encores, though.
Railguard:
Cool but I'd rather see Springer in a new mold for the Universe line as well as Blitzwing.
Runamuck:
*still waits for the blue Bluestreak*
Insane Galvatron:
I so can't wait to close on my house so I can place a huge order with kotoys.com. I want all these KO G1, but the total of all I want is more than I can swing at the moment.
I wish I'd known Springer was being unofficially reissued. I just bought a complete original at a local comic shop.
shadowtron:
Always wanted Springer when I was younger. Dont really want to pay the high price he goes for now. I will definitely get this.
T-Logicon:
I just restored my Springer, and he looks great! Octane, I dont have. I'll look to make a move on him after they finish the box, and the price drops a little.
I wonder if there would be so much outcry and outrage if the Dino-Cassettes or Overlord, or any of the other rediculously expensive g1 figures were "re-issued" KO style. I dont have any problems with the KOs. I have Mirage and some of the cassettes, and the quality is very good. If Hasbro or TakTom wanted to re-release the figures that are being KOd, they could. I dont buy for a second that they cant because "the mold is lost or destroyed". Whatever. If some company out of China can do it, why cant Hasbro or TakTom? The reason is they dont want to. I'm not saying they should, or that they are bad/wrong for not doing it, but they could if they wanted to. So if an outside group wants to make these KOs, they are doing it primarily to make money off of the fact that most if these KOs are of figures that havent/wont or arent/have not yet, been re-issued. Gee, I wonder if the ROTF line has made money for Hasbro? They've been getting my money for a LONG time. And I'm more than happy to give it to them. I dont have a problem with someone making a product that I like or want. I'd like it to be Hasbro or TakTom, but if they wont, someone else will.
****Also waiting for the Blue Bluestreak, and the Police Sunstreaker****
Rodr-Evil:
I don't support this kind of thing, if the packaging was different that would be much more acceptable you know. This thing is a steal, not honest at all!

Yeah but every high quality KO I've seen goes for ridiculous prices. No way should a fake Dinobot cost 60.00... Quote:

I only have one problem with these KOs, and its when sellers try to pass them off as originals. I'm also tired of them releasing mainline figures. How about a Liokaiser, Fort Max, or even japanese exclusives like Metalhawk or Artfire? Why should I buy a Grimlock KO for 60 bucks when I can still get an original loose one for the same amount? Can you guys imagine a 60 dollar Metalhawk? Or paying 150 bucks for Liokaiser?
bodine1231:
I'd easily pay 200.00 for a decent KO Fort Max with original looking box,EASILY.

****Also waiting for the Blue Bluestreak, and the Police Sunstreaker**** | theres also the KO Metrotitan which is pretty damn nice. Although it comes in a very sturdy Metroplex box, the main difference is the parts that should be red, are a little more on the pink side.
cromagnus:
More crap for the pyre. Overpriced KO Chinese crap. Burn that like Vader.
