I just got both figures today and spent the better part of the afternoon swapping all the tan bits. I gotta say, I was a bit put off when I saw there wasn't a metallic finish, but in person, I really like the gray plastic Takara used. I don't miss the metallic at all, especially with the black accent parts from the first mold.

Creator Primus
I go over a few things in this video such as the planet surface and the detail, plus go over the transformation to all the modes!

I dont know Paul, thats very expensive for that figure, considering I went to a toy show last october and got 2 primus figures for a grand total of 25 bucks. I gave one to my kids and kept the one with the key and omega lock for myself.

The Crooked Man
Was worried after I saw that the metallic-looking paint in the box art isn't what we ended up with, but now that I have him in hand, he's really nice. So, no sound effects and light-up eyes, or is that just the one I got?

I always take a bit of pride and a smirk always develops on my face when i cost people money Thank you very much for the very kind compliments. When i saw the first pictures…i was very excited. But then when i got him and opened him up, i was disappointed. My biggest problem was the blue hands and arm cannons. I keep my Primus in planet mode typically…and that damn blue just ruined the look for me. But when i remembered my old one had black hands…i had hoped i could swap them out. I'm not a modifier or customizer or anything and i was worried i couldn't do it. But it's fairly easy. Then looking online at pictures of cybertron…the black cities with the goldish hue colors…looked way more accurate. So i thought about swapping those out. I think both figure, the original and new one, get a huge upgrade in terms of look. As i said, i like looking at both and seeing the Golden Age of Cybertron and then the war torn version…i think it's pretty cool haha

Yeah count me in as one that immediately saw the need for a parts swap. I don't plan on picking up Creator Primus until is is clearanced (and I do believe it will be), but based on Opti's review I am much more inclined to actually spend the money on the repaint. Luckily for me I happen to have a spare Cybertron Primus that I can cannibalize for the swap.
Anyway, another excellent review Optibotimus. I did notice quite a bit more editing this time around though. I just wonder if that was done for time or because you didn't like how certain bits flowed in the review. Either way, a very professional and informative review. Nicely done.
EDIT: Ok wow. That complete parts swap pretty much convinced me to get this guy when the price drops. I was on the fence, but changing the hands, guns, spires and cities looks amazing. Thank you very much for costing me another $100 on a figure with which I already was more than satisfied. Damn, I hate awesome recolors…
Excellent pictures though. You can clearly see the vast improvements with the parts swap.

I like thinking of the 2010 version the "after" war version while the original i think of as the golden age of cybertron version lol
Doc Brown
Thanks for the photos. The sand coloured spikes actually look alright on the cybertron version.
Tempting me to get the 2010 version now.

i'm soooo sorry it took so long to get these pictures up guys. I ended up swapping out the spikes and cities. Well…the cities that i could actually swap out…the others are painted, molded parts to the plastic itself. Again, i think it benefits both versions of the figure. Here they are….
The new Primus i think looks as accurate as he's possibly gonna get when compared to the G1 images of the planet itself when compared to this picture…

Great review, I got mine today and swapped the hands too! Didn't bottered yet with the cannons since on Cybertron Primus I tried to take one gun appart, and the parts were glued, is it the same on Takara Primus?
And I kinda like the tan part personally, they have a metallic sheen to them and it help to blend them with the painted gold color he have.
Backscatter
I actually like the drab metallic look better. Can't wait!

I think I'll just wait for the summer clearance at TFSource, or BBTS to get Primus. It's inevitable he will be clogging up inventories. The planet mode is boring compared to the original, and in bot mode slightly lighter shades of blue don't impress me enough to spend $140 for this guy. Plus the original can still cost a good amount of money, too much to play the part swapping game for minor improvements to the 2010 version. Pass for now, but after either lottery or clearance I may decide different.

I vastly prefer the original to this. This is very boring and too much blue!

To think the original Primus was clearanced for $20 not so long ago…
I wanted to do a parts swap the minute I saw the pictures. The blue hands and guns don't fit the new Primus at all. I'll probably swap the cities and the spires from my old Primus and ditch what's left.

thnkas for sharing it does look better with swapped pieces but unlike unicron all i need is one cybertron unicron was an exception of course

Come on Hasbro, one up Takara and release this guy in proper colors. More metallic silver, no tan parts, black hands and arm canons, and maybe red chest. Love the part swap..
Optibotimus sir… Can you hurry with those pics? Lol. Awesome review sir.

Won an original loose complete for 27.99 + shipping on eBay a year ago so I will not be picking up another for these crazy prices. Great review, very tempted, saving the cash for MP Rodimus.
