Star Wars Crossovers Darth Vader Anakin Quad Changer Released at US Retail

I sense a disturbance in the Force...

That's right, the Class III Star Wars Transformers Darth Vader has hit US retail. This $40 giant toy has four modes - Anakin Skywalker, who turns into a Republic Attack Cruiser. But Anakin falls to the Dark Side, and the toy becomes Darth Vader, who turns into an Imperial Star Destroyer. It's effectively two different toys in one!

The Force was definitely strong with ViceGripX, who found this toy at the Toys R Us in Tacoma, WA.

Cool. Even though its a pass for me, a few positive reviews maw change my mind.
MegaMoonMan
Pretty sure that turd has been out for weeks now.
deathsheadII
Why would they do this to transformers and starwars its just horrible!

Have we seen in-hand review/comparison pics yet? If he's $40 is he roughly leader class sized?

Yes, there is a feedback thread already for this guy. You should read it, it's full of win.

No size-compare pics though.

Someone must've had a major boner when writing the "4 MODES IN 1! - 2 VEHICLES AND 2 MECHS!" tag.
Lord_Starscream
The logo on his helmet that lights up , sorry kills it for me
General Tekno
Yeah; it's been sighted already. Heck, I saw it up here the other day.
ViceGripX
Well then, lock up the thread. I hadn't heard about it and didn't see anything posted about it, so I figured it was news. Sorry to waste everyone's time.
Sol Fury
No, actually, you're right in reporting it - all previous sightings are for Canada. So this is the first US sighting.

Well, stomp on frogs and shove a crowbar up mah nose! I did done sumthin right!

Only $40 for that large of a figure? Hmmm....It's still a giant plastic Turd. I had hopes for this figure.
mjordan23
Unfortunately its a pass for me. Everytime I see this figure it just makes me think of the movie Spaceballs.
guncannon109
Just what we need, another shelf warmer... on the up side I think this will give TJOmega some new material for Plastic Addict.

Isn't that an insult to Spaceballs?

I think whoever wrote this blurb on the front page is playing a little fast and loose with the word "effectively".

This thing is a travesty - I'm sure the kids'll love it.

And some of us adults.
NCStarscream
I saw it in Cary, NC yesterday (at TRU)...the Crossovers just don't interest me,with a couple Class I exceptions.
TheBeastman
For forty bucks its tempting (as a For the hell of it kind of purchase) but still too much. Now for 20, id pick it up easy.
Regrezz
I would love to see more pics in all modes. I have a thing for giant sized transformers, the new legends size crossovers be damned.
JavaJim
I thought that same thing as many of the folks who are slamming the idea of combining them, but as a Transformers fan, and a Star Wars fan, I love seeing quality Star Wars ships displayed in fight scenes with transformation / bot forms here and there. It's a wild take on the Star War saga, and nearly ever ship I have (have every one of them now) is a quality product.

Every mode is dissapointing. With the success of the Han Solo+Chewbaca/Millenium Falcon and the Darth Vader/Death Star, Hasbro didn't meet the potential of this product.

Exactly. The price we pay in weird and awkward "Mech" modes is usually outweighed by very well done vehicle modes. Here they dropped the ball on both ends with the strange, narrowly thick proportions of the Republic Cruiser/Star Destroyer combined with ridiculous mech modes to boot.

If the ships had looked like all the other crossovers vehicles I probably would've picked this up for the Action Fleet Style Republic Cruiser. As is, it just looks bad.

Wow, only $40? Wasn't the Vader/Star Dest like $70?

It's within consideration, deps on how it looks in person.
doctajones428
Dang, I saw one of these in Edmonton today

$70 was a CASE price, which in normal Internet-Message-Board-Telephone-Game fashion became commonly accepted as the unit price within about 2 seconds, even though it was never stated to be such and immediately refuted after the first chicken-little cried that the $70 sky was falling.

I've got one in my POL, and I'm looking forward to doing a little tweaking and making him into one of the 13...or something.

Has there been any mention of the possibilty for GI JOE Crossovers?

Like Megatron as a HISS

There have been no shortage of requests followed by flat refusals from Hasbro.

Well, we've already gotten a Snowcat. That's probably going to be as good as it gets.
Satomiblood
They could do a "test run" for a GI Joe/Transformers crossover where they only create a few molds. I kind of don't understand Hasbro's refusal to look into something like this. If they're afraid of taking risks, or not convinced that it's going to sell, then how come those very same concerns haven't stopped them from creating lines that were hit or miss among fans? Oh well. Same tired argument, different day.

The Starwars Franchise must have pre-contributed alot of funding into these development.... An example how R&D goes into a deep hole...

Looking forward to the inevitable Radicon that turns this toy into Mega Maid/Spaceball 1.

But I'm a sucker for both Star Wars and Transformers so I'll sadly be buying this. At least I'll get more out of this than The Complete Saga on Blu-ray.
SGTsoundwave
it's a nice figure with transformation and such, no complaints there but, WORK ON THE HEAD MOLDS!!!!!!
Uniprimus
Im a huge star wars fan and this is by far the best crossover transformer ive ever seen!!! I will buy this monster!!!

This being the last posted in thread for Anakin/ Vader, I'll post here.

I was TF hunting in Southern IL (16 ~ 20 miles from St. Louis, MO -- Shilow, IL Target @ Green Mount Road near I-64), & saw the (3 total, I think) Quad-changer for $17. I had the mind to track someone down & confirm that is the price in the system. What's funny, he was next to a Class? II (one of the droid ships) that cost $21.

Looks like he did about as well as people thought, & he's being offloaded now.

Forgot to take a pic. I did not get one; gotta watch my spending.
Omega Charge
I saw one at Marshall's today too for $24.
Autobot Burnout
There were three of them in a TJMAXX today for about $25.

Still not paying that much for that thing after all the bad reviews it's gotten.
Sokar
Strange as it is, it seems as if the price drop (in Canada at least) is restricted to the first run packaging of this figure. I've seen in several walmarts and toys r us stores where you will have the two seperated within the same aisle and one is 20$ while the other is 50$. I scanned both to confirm as well, and in each case the old packaging came up significantly cheaper than the new packaging even though they appear to be the exact same toy.
