New Star Wars Transformers: Clone Pilot / Republic Gunship Obi-Wan Kenobi / Jedi Starfighter

Rebelscum has posted pictures of the next two Star Wars Transformers. The Republic Gunship now comes with a Clone Wars paint job and an ARC trooper head. The new Obi-Wan Starfighter w/ Hyperspace Ring is a repaint of Saesee Tinn with a different head.

Cool, though for some reasin I think I've seen pictures of the Gunship before (or am I thinking of the other ship that had a similar paintjob for it's repaint?). The Obi-Wan Starfighter is definetly new to me. I might get him. It'll come down to an in person decision. I'm not sure how he would look, or what he would turn into, but, a Yoda SW TF would, imo, be awesome.

Yeah, ARC-170 already got the space whale paint job.

I was thinking the very same thing about the ARC and the Gunship. I guess that's good that at least two of these (and some of the better molds at that) have matching colors. For the five collectors out there.

I love that Starfighter mold, but I still want a Mace Windu version. As much as I want a Samuel L. Jackson TF, I can't stand the other Jedi ship mold.

I like that when they do repaints of this line, they remold the heads as well. Except, of coruse, in the case of Boba/ Jango Fett, where it was the same head for both characters.

I bought the gunship thinking for sure they wouldn't repaint two different figures with the same paintjob.

I was going to say that because of this new Obi-Wan the chances of a Kit Fisto don't look good. Then I remembered that the Episode III Starfighter was released four times.

I like the deco on the Gunship, but I still don't like the long torso on the robot.

This is the line that needed to get canceled, not the 6-inch Titanium. Only SWTF I have is the Turbo Tank. I saw the pics of these and didn't really see anything different. They practically look like the rest of them.

Very nice paint jobs on both, better than the originals'. And Obi-Wan's head looks considerably better than it did on the other Jedi Starfighter mold. Still, though I like SWTFs enough to buy each mold once, I shy away from repaints in this line. (Gotta draw the line somewhere, after all, with all the TF product coming out...)

Sweet! I have been waiting for a redeco of the Hyperspace ring Starfighter! It is my favorate SWTF by far.

I'm definitely getting both of these. Does any Star Wars fan know what makes this clone pilot different from the previous clone pilot as far as Star Wars lore is concerned? I would like to differentiate them with something other than with mouth and regular. They are both LAAT Republic Gunships and both clone pilots, but I assume that the different paint jobs mean something. Thanks in advance for your help.

oh thank Primus, I had almost given up hope that the drop ship would get this paint scheme. thereby allowing me to get it for $10 instead of the $25 Titanium.

Obi Wan looks a HELL of a lot better than the original Ep3 fighter...
Still not feeling either mold though, my clone completist little brother on the other hand'll probably pick up the gunship anyway. You win this round Hasbro...

The new deco is based on the gunship from the Clone Wars cartoon, and according to Wookieepedia it's a command gunship manned by ARC Troopers. The deco (a rancor mouth) is also based on paint schemes on real life fighter planes.

Oh wow. I'm really liking those two, even if they are repaints and I already own the Saesee Tiin star-fighter.

I can't believe this line has lasted this long. Only 2 or 3 new figures every 6 months & 75% are repaints??? How can it keep going? They've cancelled better lines.

Phew, I've held off the Gunship for a while, thinking/hoping they'd do a Tigershark repaint, and I was 'this' close to buying an Ep2 one...

Phew, I don't particularly like the robot mode, I only want it to match my 3 3/4 inch figure Tigershark Gunship.

But that's the great thing about clone troopers. You can have a fleet of them.

I recently got a standard deco SWTF gunship figuring that they wouldn't do the tigershark too. I do need this one, however, to match my 3 3/4 gunship and since my clone collection is focused on ARC troopers.

Up here it looked like a lot of SWTF sold at christmas time, because there weren't enough Movie Transformers. So parent's bought the next best thing available, at least thats what I think. Which may be why the line continues.

I dig these, so I'm not complaining.

I really like this line because of the vehicle modes. I have the Falcon (my fav) plus Bobba fett, the original Darth Vader (TIE), and assorted others. What I don't like, is the repeat in characters as other vehicles (a la obi wan). I have the Ep III version, but I am torn now because of the Ep II version shown here. Does anyone know if the ship detaches from the ring like in the movie? If so I might have to get this. Also, I have been holding off on the death star based on the fact that yet again, a repeat in characters in different vehicle modes.

Yes he detaches from the ring, and has landing gear, just like in the movie.

That's 15 new molds, 8 remolds. About a third. Compared to Alts (14 of 30 were remolds or just straight repaints- nearly half . And the repaints make sense, for the most part. Each of these characters in the SW universe piloted the same kind of ship. If we start seeing a Yoda-ATAT or a Jar Jar Imperial Shuttle, then I'll moan about the repaints.

So uh, considering Hasbro used the RiD Brother molds to death...when can we expect the Ep3 starfighter to be "unusable?"

I only like the ships from the Original Trilogy. I am still waiting for a nice Star Destroyer.

Nope EP3 Obiwans hand didnt do that...i guess I just assumed there was some articulation in the fingers as I dont own the Saesee Tiin mold...

^ No finger articulation on the Saesee mold. The right hand is just molded in two-finger-Force-gesture pose.

Since the time I took these photos I've added an extra guy. The Tigerstripe Gunship now has 4 permanent crew, 2 pilots and 2 Clone troopers, as well as the 5 Arc Troopers, Jedi, Speeder and Speeder pilot (who is hidden in one of the wing bays.





Which is why I was really waiting to get a Tigerstripe SWTF, and as of last week actualy gave in. If I'd found a SWTF Gunship before I read this article I'd have bought it. So... lucky.

I really like this line, and both of these remolds are on some of the better 'bots of the line. For sure getting the gunship.
