Marvel Transformers Crossovers Human Torch Repaint and Punisher Cancelled

ToyBiz had a Marvel toyline which predates the Transformer Crossovers. Basically, the character transforms into something which a child can play around with, like Spidey turning into a webshooter, or Apocalypse turning into a mini gatling gun.

The Punisher turned into a pistol.

The ONLY excuse I will accept for canning Punisher is that they're going to put more villians in this line *cough*Dr.Doom*cough*.

I mean, outside of the more crazy Marvel heroes (Wolverine, Hulk) who can be considered "lawfully" evil at times, we've only got ONE full-time baddie with Venom (and maybe that repaint of him into Carnage, if that ever got released). I know heroes sell better than villians, but I can't imagine Dr. Doom just building one transforming suit of armor for Venom while Reed Richards and Tony Stark build a whole friggin ARMY of them for their superfriends (with Spiderman having gotten at least three different toys in this line alone).

Now that Punisher, who could pass as being evil, is gone, the only figure I still want it Bulldozer Hulk so I can create my Animated Bonecrusher.

The Marvel Crossover line seems to be suffering the same character-ruts as the movie lines. The more popular characters (for the movie, Prime and Bee, for Marvel, Iron Man, Spiderman, etc.) sell the best so they get the most toys. I don't blame them though, it only makes sense financial wise.

I don't know that there is any proof of that with this line, although I understand the logic of it. Spiderman is easily the most popular of any of those characters, and he's shelfwarming harder than any of them. I think if you made a good enough toy, you could throw a Brother Voodoo deco on it and it'd sell. Hasbro doesn't seem interested in finding out yet, as there have only been what, maybe 10 different molds in the whole line?

They darn well better release Ghost Rider.

Since's a remold of the Captain America figure, would you not be able to use a standard Cap to make into a Roadbuster?

I would probably hold out for the inevitable repaint as Fred Hembeck....

I was looking forward to both. i would have bought Punisher cause he is awesome and Blue Human Torch to go with the regular Human Torch to be like a different version of animated Jetfire and Jetstorm.

This sucks! I've been waiting for that Punisher repaint for what seems like FOREVER, and now they're canning it?? So after repainting Iron Man, Hulk and Wolverine into oblivion, we will NOT be getting any repaints for arguably 2 of the best molds in the line? Argh.

I understand the logic. Punisher has never been a big character, and there isn't a Fantastic Four movie on the horizon (then why are we getting The Thing??), but I am a bit miffed that the Crossover line has basically become the exclusively Spidey/Wolvie/Ironman line.

Disappointing. Very disappointing.

Plus... he was already supposed to come with a large gun that could be mounted on the Hummer or held in robot mode, and it looked like the Punisher head mold might have more potential to be re-used for other kitbashes. The Cap head looks a bit like Homer Simpson.

It's been done, but black is usually easier to paint over than blue, and the Punisher came with a giant gattling gun as opposed to Cap's shield.

Oh. and the hood emblem was a skull. Which was totally awesome.

Kind of a bummer. That Punisher seemed pretty cool. I think the real problem with the line is price and secondly no fiction to go along with it. If they made these $10-$12 I would have picked up way more of them. At that price they would have to be deluxe size but IMO that would make them even more appealing for kitbashing purposes

Perhaps... though I have to admit I was really enjoying the fact that they are an intermediate size, closer to Voyagers. For some of the molds it seemed a bit large, but I really liked it for the jets and tanks.

Every retailer in my area has clearanced this line, except maybe Toys-R-Us. Honestly, I take this as proof that cancellation of the entire line is imminent.

I've got the Human Torch so I don't need the repaint, but the cancellation of the Punisher that kinda po'd me because he looked badass with his BFG. Well this sucks, damn. I'm disappointed Hasbro.

Well it is sad that these 2 figures are being cancelled but on the upside it makes room for 2 more Spider-Man repaints!!!!

Funny. I don't even bother looking at this line or SW when Im in the store. You could hide an Animated Arcee behind them and Id never know. Im mad Alternators stopped and these are still being made. Im super pissed Animated was canned and these are still here.

I was SO looking forward to Punisher. He woulda been the first one from this line that I'd have bought. F***. They better still release Ghost Rider. And hopefully the Iron Man/Warmachine combiner, though I don't want them as much, however that's almost guaranteed to be produced since they have a movie coming out soon.

I read this on shmax.com when I registered for an account to inventory my continuously growing collection. Hearing the news about the Punisher Marvel crossover figure's cancellation makes me sad because the Punisher is probably my most favorite Marvel comic book character, and now I won't be able to have him.

I'm more concerned about the Thing bulldozer (skipping Hulk version because I got the tank) and Iron Man car, both of which I'd kill someone to have (not really). Wish they'd do a Spider-Man I wanted.

I've had almost zero interest in the Star Wars line (finally decided I wanted the snowspeeder right after it disappeared from stores), Marvel's been hit-or-miss, really wish there were more villains (as someone else said) and more variety in the molds. And I was very disappointed in the Thor toy. Why isn't there an Ultron or Dr. Doom?

I do like the near-voyager size of them at the price point (around $16).

I hope this means ghost rider is sooner at least.
I need that one of these. He's too perfect with MU Ghost Rider coming up.
I NEED that new war machine Iron man two pack too. Those were finally getting me into the line. That motorcycle was just epicly beautiful.

New Images of Marvel Transformers Crossover

Looks like someone had one in-hand. Hmmm, wonder if Thing is also canned b/c it looks like he was supposed to ship with Blue Torch and Punisher.

The Punisher transformer was one of the only figures in this line I was looking forward too. With that and the Roadbuster upgrade kit it would have made a kick ass new Roadbuster for me. =(

I almost got some others, but always decided against actually buying them, but I definitely would have grabbed the Punisher one.

Also, anyone got pics of this so highly hailed Ghost Rider transformer?

This makes me sad because the Punisher is one of my favorite Marvel comic book characters and I was actually looking forward to his crossover figure, hearing news of its cancellation makes me a sad fanboy.

Little diff to me. I called this series quits with Thor. Sorry for the fans that liked them though.

Thor's a great figure. One of the better ones in the line.

Sure the head looks silly and the colours are garish, but if ugly, unlikely base colours were enough to ruin a mold, that pretty much applies to 90% of post-1986 G1, G2, Beast Wars, right on up to Armada.

I've only picked up the tank-Hulk and Captain America, but I must say they're both great toys. I'm particularly pleased with Cap. The shield gimmick amuses me more than it really should. The poseability and detail on those two is top-notch. I desperately want to get an Iron Man, but all of the Iron Man toys released so far do absolutely nothing for me.

And that War Machine looks atrocious...it looks like the entire alt mode just hangs off it's back...taking pointers from RoTF perhaps?

I don't really care, as long as I get these greedy little hands on a Ghost Rider

Ah...I didn't know it was a combiner. I assume it combines with and Iron Man figure then? Still, for me, it looks terrible. And after the "awesomeness" that was the Iron Man/Spider-Man combiner, I can just imagine what this would like in a combined mode...

It's too bad really, because when this line gets a figure right, it's a fantastic toy. But when they cock it up, man does the figure take a beating.
