Captain America and Thor look great. Might get at least one of each for kitbash fodder. Like the rest of the line, they look to be about Voyager class size, if just a little smaller. The other two aren't bad either, but neither peak my interest all that much.

My guess that either this is still test packaging, or they couldn't get the name War Machine.

Exactly what I was thinking. "War Machine" is a bit harsh sounding... and for a hero, no less. Especially when you're trying to convince a well-meaning dad, aunt or grandmother that it's a good positive toy for the kids. "War" is not nearly an abstract enough concept in these dark days... has some negative connotations, y'all.

Though I am a bit surprised they didn't go with "Stealth Armor Iron Man" or something like that.

He looks great though... I love the almost completely black alt mode.

Hasbro still uses "Beast Wars series" on its relevant Universe packaging all the time, I don't see why "war" would suddenly become a bad word.

Very true, but I'm literally frightened by the prospect that this may be the best A-10-based Transformer toy yet seen.

Star Wars Clone Wars also.

War is inherently an unpleasant word, but I agree it's not necessarily one that kids need to be protected from. However the term "War Machine" particularly in context with a "heroic" character, really has a bad ring to it. It doesn't imply a heroic struggle so much as an automated murder device with no other purpose. "Iron Man" has a much friendlier ring in a household where daddy got his legs blown off by a landmine I should think. Just sayin'.

Incidentally, Beast Wars was retitled as "Beasties!" for Canadian television. No joke. For the record, I don't consider that an improvement.

Ditto. I'll be repainting two of Thor as Powerglide and the COBRA Rattler, and Captain America as Prime. Cap'n might make a good Megatron too since that's what I was hoping for in the Alts line after Hasbro got the Hummer license and then afterwards disappointed all of us.

I thought that was fairly common knowledge among TF fans.

Another Mainframe CGI TV production got the same treatment: War Planets was called Shadow Raiders in Canada.

Yeah, I was thinking of that one too, though I didn't remember what the "corrected" title was.

I knew that was pretty much common knowledge for Canadian TF fans obviously, though I didn't know whether it was well known amongst fans elsewhere. It's a trivial thing, but interesting... and considering Mainframe is Canadian too...

I have to say, changing the title to fit with children's television policies is one thing, but I'm pretty surprised that "Beasties" was the best alternative title they could come up with.

As was the voice cast for Mainframe's productions at the time.

It seems like all the original press releases mentioned the Canadian title for the series since they debuted around the same time in both the US and Canada. And I want to say it aired first in Canada too. If not, I'm sure Nevermore will chime in to correct me.

QFT. Even "Beast Transformers" would've been a better title, and kept in the tradition of the original series title.

Maybe I'm a perv, but my immediate WTF reaction to the altered title was far less... wholesome.

They seemed to replace the title on the basis of it having the same number of syllables as "Beast Wars" (hence the forceful chant of "Beasties" fit well into the opening)... but I seem to remember the title graphic had "Transformers" prefacing it.

Wouldn't "Transformers: Beast Age" have had a more sensible sound to it?

Funnily, the Beast Wars TOYLINE had the alternate French Canadian title "Guerre Bêtes" (not to be confused with the alternate FRENCH French title, "Ani Mutants").
