Also on display was the Encore Metroplex reissue (called "Metroflex" by Takara), and Marvel Transformers wave 1 (same as Hasbro's). Click the thumbnail to the left to see all of the mirrored pics!

Henkei Sunstreaker and Prowl (different than Hasbro's), Henkei "USA Edition" Silverbolt, Powerglide and Onslaught (also different than Hasbro's), Marvel Transformers wave 1 (same as Hasbro's), Encore Metroflex reissue (no plans for a Hasbro release right now).
Draven:
Metroplex - Chromed legs & rubber wheels for the absolute WIN. I'll definitely be getting this.
Powerglide - Oh GOD, that looks awful.
Roanstalker:
I hope the japanese prowl sorts out the paint problem.

Fuckit, I'll just get Hasbro's version and call it a day. I don't like this mold anyway, so I'm only getting one for sake of collection completion. No use spending double on the Henkei version.

Powersa:
I like Encore Metroplex. Mini bots will go great next with him.
TriBlurr:
I think Powerglide looks great. If I can afford it I'm getting this version.
Ktulu:
None of those Henkeis are really any better than Hasbro's for me, Silverbolt especially is lookin too washed out with all that vibrant white. And yeah PGlide is a little more show accurate with all the red but I'm with Draven and Incepticon, still doesn't really do it for me.
Metroplex is lookin all kinds of swanky though, will buy
Venksta:
So the "USA Edition" doesn't mean its the same as ours, it means its the version USA wants, lol.

WhiteMocha:
I dunno, I like Powerglide all right. Though I do wish he were less vibrant, and more maroon/burgundy. That red is pretty eyeball-searing in that quantity. And I could do without the white stripes, as well. Still gettin' him, though.
Man, I've already got a decent-looking Metroplex, but some of its hinges are kind of loose. Gotta admit, the prospect of a brand new one is tempting... but I'm resisting. For those who are getting him, though, that IS great news that he has chrome legs and rubber tires. It might be unlikely at this point, but I'm really hoping an E-Hobby Metrotitan reissue follows on this one's heels.
Speaking of Powerglide, any sign of the Jizaitoys set? Wasn't it supposed to be sold at this event, as well?

dark69:
that Powerglide rocks!
rizuan76:
Wow Encore Metroplex so nice (childhood grail), just be patient coming out next mth.
artiepants:
i actually think the Henkei Onslaught is a HUUUUGE win over ours, and while they're not perfect i do think i like Powerglide and Silverbolt enough better to pop for the imports.

Can't say I'm all that impressed with either Henkei Powerglide or Silverbolt, at least not to make it worth my money to import. An ideal gee-wun-ified Powerglide (within the confines of a mold that isn't that geewunny to start) would probably be all red, with the exception of gray arms and upper legs and face. Takara seems to have thrown that into a blender, and it's still too much of a red&white plane to really break that streak of red&white planes hasbro's been putting out for me.

the only one that is different is the powerglide lol
and even that i wish the whole thing was the same color as the head FREEFALL:
Is it me... or does Powerglide look orange?

It might be unlikely at this point, but I'm really hoping an E-Hobby Metrotitan reissue follows on this one's heels. | I'm in the same boat about Metroplex. I have a very decent original, pretty much complete (minus scamper gun), and only a bit loose on the helipad joint... Even the stickers are quite good considering the playtime I got out of him... Mine is non-chrome and plastic wheels, so these pics DO make him damn tempting... But I know me, I won't be able to sell my original (toy sentimental ftl), and I don't want two of this guys, he's too big for that! Only option is to not click the so-easy-to-click "buy now" button
Powerglide looks quite nice though, but I'd whish the arms where gray at least. At that price, I'm not sure I'd go and buy one of each to switch parts. But I think I'll go for the Henkei on this one, looks real good anyway.
a person:
Would I spend the money to import a red Powerglide? No. Would I buy the red Powerglide and pass on the white version if I could find them both in a local store? Yes.
Fort Max:
Well then, red powerglide looks overdone. Maybe he'll look better in later pics or should I get the white one now or wait for the con repaint instead.
More inportantly, where the hell was the GT-R? LigerPrime:
With regards to the Classics/Henkei debate - I prefer Classics as I feel that the chrome on some of the henkei TFs really look out of place. Unfortunately, I have to pick-up a Henkei Starscream so that there will be a consistent look with the Thundercracker and Skywarp I pre-ordered. Nevermore: Quote:

BigRC83:
Onslaught - Do not like the color.
Silverbolt - Looks to plain.
Powerglide - Looks a bit better. Not enough for a buy.
I'm happy w/ my HASBRO versions. The only one I'll probably purchase it that Sunstreaker.

They're minor details, sure, but i appreciate 'em.
and i REALLY dislike the dishwater grey color on Hasbro's Silverbolt. They also did away with the orange parts. On the flip side i like the extra apps on Hasbro's SB's Shoulder wings and the dark grey head, gives him more contrast. decisions, decisions...

Makes it blend in too much with the rest of him.

artiepants:
ok, those pix are MUCH better. I'm in for Powerglide and onslaught for sure, i'm starting to lean Hasbro for Silverbolt.
and i see they Chromed Sunstreakers intakes and Prowl and SSer's guns, nice. if it wasn't for the thrice-damned Chrome spoilers i'd be all over those. (Prowls launchers look a little OTT with the whole thing chromed)
Takomy doesn't really seem to put this kind of effort into their TFs anymore, but it'd have been sweet if they'd made firing launchers and updated them to rubber tires (then they could have chrome rims).
bfarneth:
I already have a minty, original Metroplex (even have the box for him, even if it's a bit tore up) but the prospect of having a MISB is a bit tempting...
I think I'm conflicting with the rest of the board so far in that I like the red Powerglide. Having him in white isn't a tribute to his G1 counterpart. Every US Classic (so far) has been somewhat close (notice I said SOMEWHAT, *cough* Megatron *cough*) to what their G1 character was. Henkei made some that were even closer.
A white Powerglide doesn't remotely resemble the G1 counterpart in any way (honestly, his head is really the only thing making him look like Powerglide, to me at least) so I'll be getting the red one. At least, aesthetically speaking, he'll make me happier.
SPLIT LIP:
Metroplex looks great with the Minibots. Rubber tiers, FTW.
Ceasar121:
Unless that is flash making the red on Powerglide look brighter than he is, ugghh. That looks horrible. Makes me glad I have the white one, which is very nice in person and is a great UPDATE of the character Powerglide.
If, however, they come with a more maroon version of it, I'm in, as I really like this mold.
Zie:
So when does that Powerglide come out
Because I want it.
Tell_Story:
Question - How long do you think Universe Onslaught and Powerglide will be on the shelves? I'm waiting until my next CC billing cyle to go out hunting for them. I know MP Starscream didn't last very long. Each Wally world got like 12 of them right? I was lucky enough to snag Premium Ironhide and Blackout two months after they came out. I'm hopeful that in two weeks I'll be able to pick these up no problem.

I know it would cost more, but making separate molds for the rims, then making the tires rubber, would've been great. That is really what these could've used to make them stand out even more from the US versions.
flywheels:
I'm still on the fence over Henkei! Powerglide. Do I pull the trigger or apply the funds to something else? Decisions, decisions.
Metroplex is very tempting as well for the box alone. I've already got a super nice 99% complete chrome thighed/rubber wheeled version...but it's naked without a box. Argh...

They typically spend more budget on paint, but less on new tools.
trebleshot:
Metroplex is really tempting, but the others are a big pass. I'm happy with the US versions, at least until the next Botcon.
Paint apps are nice when they get it right, but they're certainly no dealbreaker for me.

But my Henkei Megatron is on the way, so I'm full of happiness
I think I'm sticking to the US releases on all of these. Maybe after people start getting them and can tell us what they actually look like (ie, what shade of red paint is that really on Powerglide) I might change my mind.

Yes, I'll have the Metroflex special with a side of Sunstreaker and the Powerglide after-dinner mint. Ktulu: Quote:

Especially Sivlerbolt. BLEGH!
