 | | | Transformers Collectors Club Exclusive Seacons First Look | | Posted on 04-16-2008 at 02:21 AM by Sol Fury | | Some pictures have been posted on ACToys of the Transformers Collector's Club Exclusive Seacons Snaptrap and Nautilator. Both of them retain the colorschemes originally intended for the canceled store exclusive release. Of special note is that they both have purple Decepticon symbols, meaning that they are not going to be tied in to this year's Botcon "Shattered Glass" story.

Awesome! Just hope I can afford them unicronhq:
yeah me too..........
gunman_sr5:
I wish they would give us a price soon. I want the set, but for what club figures have cost in the past. I may be forced to pass up on it....
Thundershot:
*squints* Okay, good. Purple Decepticon symbols. That means it's unlikely that they'll be part of the Shattered Universe. I was worried about that for a bit.. Hopefully they'll be part of the Classicsverse. Or use the original concept and make them another group of Energon Terrorcons.
They had also better have all of their weapons and stands. That's a deal-breaker for me. We should be okay, since the ones we were supposed to get through Universe had all of that stuff.
Chris
Icespark:
Thanks for finding these pictures!
I still want to know whether or not they will have die-cast parts. Somehow I doubt it though.
Schide:
Yup. Still hate those color schemes. Don't have to spend money joining the club and buying this after all. Hopefully I'll be able to finish my G1 Piranacon one of these days.

when is this supposed to come out? because i might just go for this club just during the months of this, just so i can grab it lol! will it be on the site, or what?
mineraljane:
Do you just sit and refresh that site for 'news' items? (kidding )
That said, I have the originals but these are looking like that may be a purchase. Decisions, decisions...

Omegatron1:
I'm not wild about the color scheme, but FP has done a pretty nice job so far with their toys. I'll call it a maybe, depending on price being ~$100.

Noisemaze:
I'll stick with the originals. These look horrible.
MegaHavok:
At the rate takara is going what if encore seacons are announced before these guys come out
RobotoChan:
I love the Seacons with all my heart.
My collections is made up of my original toys from my youth and as many as I have been able to get in recent years when I took up the hobby again. The molds are fantastic and I prefer them over any of the other gestalts from G1.
Saying that, these new ones look bloody awful. The colour scheme shown in the two pictures is reminiscent of Seacons covered in vomit. They just look wierd.
A very easy pass for me.
GAUGE0001:
I'm so glad I found a 100 % complete G1 PIRANACON in the dumpster 3 years ago, I still display him proudly with what little of a G1 Collection i have on my shelf :
This hideous abomination is a easy pass for me
Lupis Convoy:
hrmm.. can't wait. It will look great next to my King Posideon set... now if only I could get the combiner parts for KP.
Backscatter:
Cool Seacons, glad they are arriving AFTER the BOTCON too. zephon:
Are they gonna release the entire Seacons set? Or is it going to be a "per piece" affair?
Weirdwolf:
I much prefer the original color schemes, but since I have an original Piranacon, I wouldn't mind picking up this set. G1 molds + novelty = okay in my book.*
[*barring absolute ridiculousness]
Bryan:
I'm kinda sorta a little dissapointed that they're not Shattered Glass. Expanding that universe via an off-the-wall repaint like this coulda been fun.
But yeah, I'm with Weirdwolf--G1 + novelty = easy sell for me.
G1Wheeljack:
They look nice, but I never really liked the Seacons, so I'll pass for now.
Deefuzz:
I could have sworn they were supposed to release these by April. *sigh*

Railguard:
I never got the Sea cons way back when so I don't know what all the fuss is about. I just hate the fact that they make toys "exclusive" to anything or anyone.
BustaJesse:
Well, I guess I better get my ass in gear and get a club membership so I can buy these.
Easterling Capt:
Im so getting these, one of the coolest G1 combiners out there. I dont think he will sell that MUCH that it will be worth for an exclusiv giftset of Piranacon in his original colors. This is the second mold of combiners we seen Hasbro/Takara use in the 2000+ years. Combatacons/Bruticus have been used alot and this is the Piranacon/seacons. Wonder if all the other molds are avalible.
DoubleClouder:
I have a prototype set of these that I got a few years ago, and the toys look identical, so the question is are these from the run made a few years ago or are these actually new?
Thundershot:
They're new. They were never mass produced. Also, we were told some of the paint apps would be different.
Chris
Megatronwp38:
eh those two are ugly, the originals are nicer.
Thundershot:
Oh come on! The original Seacons were ugly too. That's part of their charm. We just got used to them over the years. They're nifty ugly little buggers.
Chris

The original colour schemes of the Seacons and Combaticons are absoloute shit. This club colours are nice as are the RiD combaticons.
Laser_Optimus:
Still up in the air if I want this set or not... I think I'm going to pass, but I just might bite... eh...
SarahMobius:
Not so much on the paint job >.>
Nightbeat now plz.
BB Shockwave:
Great... Now I'll have to buy the BW2 Seacons and THESE too! And I'm just getting my complete Piranacon next week!
My wallet aches...
On a special note that only an European collector like me would notice - Snaptrap's colors are almost exactly the same (although his purple is a little darker) then Action Master Elite Double Punch's... Double Punch
I know, horrible color scheme... Granted - if the Seacons would have been reissued around 1991, they'd have looked the same. Or maybe worse... Chosen:
I was hoping for more images than just incomplete Snaptrap and Nautilator. Bummer. At least we know there is some progress in the works if test shots of the Club Seacons are out there now. Quote:

And since we were supposed to have these shipping by now (according to at least one earlier estimate), I'd have the assume that the toys themselves are pretty much done....
Chosen:
Well... you know what happens when you assume, don't you? MagnusPrimal:
I think I'll wait for an Encore reissue.

When I've seen vomit, it's most often been more of an off-white, or greenish-yellow such colors, so really BW2 God Neptune is in much more vomit-like colors.
So... if you don't like them... you don't like them, do you really need to insult them with some nonsensical comment about vomit?
Ecmagee1984:
Sweet, how much does it cost to join the club and how much are the seacons?
Chosen:
$62 for First Class, $40 for Third Class. No price info is available yet for the Seacons.
Optimus747:
How much did Astrotrain initially cost? $140? I'm hoping the Seacons aren't any more expensive than that. I doubt Nightbeat will be too pricey, since he's a smaller figure. I'd wait for a price drop on the Seacons, but then again, I highly doubt they'll last very long.
Also, shouldn't the pre-order for the club exclusives be up any day now?
mineraljane:
This is sort of on topic, but does anyone know if a member can buy multiple sets? (And by multiple, I just mean two, not anything in scalper territory.)

Backstop:
odd colors.........but not bad. as it is kinda G2ish

And, just because I have a reputation to uphold ( ), I'll say it again: I'd be happy for them to do without the packaging altogether. All I care about is getting the toys.

As I said already, at least one early estimate had these guys shipping by now. | Believe me, I had little invested in that aside from the joke. But if you're basing that conclusion in part on early shipping estimates, I'd say it would depend on how long ago that estimate was made. If it was something going back six months to a year ago, that's some flimsy evidence. I'm sure it's not that long ago, otherwise you probably wouldn't be considering it, just an example.
Since I didn't follow that news about the delay due to packaging, I didn't give any thought to the manufacture of the set. Certainly nothing wrong with the set being (almost) ready, and the figures waiting! Oh, and add me to the list of people who don't care about packaging for these, or at least make it optional or even made-to-order with an outfit like Mirage's Boxes if possible.
B-Fox:
I want the Seacons, but not in those colors. Can TakaraTomy release them in the original colors as King Poseidon in the Encore line, or are the Seacon molds now considered Club Exclusives and off-limits?

I wouldn't even bring it up at all as "evidence" in isolation. But if there were toy issues, why even bother saying anything about the packaging? I just can't think of any reason why FP would blame the packaging unless the packaging was, in fact, not only the issue, but pretty much the extent of the issue.
In fact, the only reason I brought it up in the first place is because someone was pointing to the specimens as a sign that "At least we know there is some progress in the works," a statement I found a bit odd, given what we'd already known before then. (Most specifically, the packaging statement. The statement that we'd already expected them by now was really beside the point.)
Of course, it's always good to see more pictures. And I'm still more than a little annoyed that it's taking this long to get exclusives to club members. Since it now seems we'll be halfway through 2008 before they show up, we're still well behind on the promised "2 per year" set up. Unless they can fix this, I wouldn't blame members at all if they decided to drop their membership, joining up only once new exclusives are available.
That's not to say that the figures are the only reason to join. I've defended the cost of membership on lots of occasions. But there's little denying that the figures are a huge draw, and for many, the only thing that matters.
