...god damn it man. You just totally validated my purchase. I freaking love that idea.
SO wait, there is a ship full of Autobots who need ot be warned, who were lost... okay, it's Scourge and the Commandos!
Let's go completely wacky. It's two ships from the G1 universe, and possibly time is in flux... It's the Axalon and Darkside!
Warning, voice of dissent: Really? Your solution to dealing with a cross-line set of toys was to say, "Screw it, we'll just start it like a D&D module." You and your fellow party members are playing cards in the local tavern, it's been a few months since you last went on an adventure, but the down time is nice. The quiet hum of the bar patrons is suddenly hushed as two figures in dark cloaks slip into the bar and begin stalking towards your table. As you and your companions look up, the figures whip off their cloaks revealing that they are elite warriors of the ruling government. "The Universe needs saving" one snarls. "And while you're a mismatched set of bastards, we think you're the only ones with the skills to get the job done." Armada's poke-plot tried more adventurous stuff than this....

This is too true. The whole thing is so cliche and dull. You're exactly right, too, this is the beginning of nearly every badly thought out D&D campaign.
It depends how it goes from here, really. If it plays out as a D&D parody, then that's fun, if it's just lazy writing to make a quick beginning, that's bad.
For everyone who dislikes the way this adventure begins, I think that while it is a bit cliche, it's not something that makes or breaks the story as a whole. Also add me to the group who would like Slipstream and company to be regulars, not just a cameo. Also, just a bit of a continuity thing: G2: Redux is in the "Classicsverse" right? Or is it the Wings Universe? Or are they all the same? Either way, I'm just wondering if this Breakdown is the same one as in G2:Redux or not. Maybe they could have the two meet even. Could be a fun gag moment.
