Toyfair Australia Transformers Display Pictures

Our fellow fans from Australia, the Ozformers, have shared pictures from the 2013 Australian Toy Fair. It is light on new reveals - the greatest part of the new stuff having been seen at the US Toy Fair last month - but there are some new items such as:
  • Back of box images for Generations Springer and Blitzwing
  • Confirmation that Generations Blitzwing has three faces, and is inspired by his Animated counterpart.
  • A second five-figure booster pack of Kreons is revealed, collecting Optimus Prime, Sentinel Prime, Megatron, Soundwave and a mystery fifth figure
  • Marvel Transformers Crossovers return - sort of - in the Iron Man 3 line which features transforming figures "with Transformers technology"

Check out their full coverage here. Note that there were a couple of things on display they were not allowed to share, and these are blurred out in the pictures.

As a bonus, here are the bios for Springer and Blitzwing, as transcribed by 2005 Boards member AutobotMirage:

Autobot Springer:

Autobot Springer was built to be a tough guy. Everything about him, from his nickel-plated blaster cannon to his bad-boy attitude, is calculated to communicate exactly what he wants it to-that he's a no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners kind of guy. He prefers to fight alone, trusting his skills and luck to get him out of tight spots, rather than relying on his fellow warriors. After all, other Autobots fail. Autobot Springer never does.

Blitzwing:

With his heavily armored and highly destructive body, Blitzwing has the ice-cold mind of a master strategist-sometimes. At other times, he is a boiling cauldron of rage, waiting for any excuse to unleash his firepower on the nearest target. And now and again he is a chaotic whirlwind of bizarre behavior and intermittent bursts of plasma fire. His unpredictability makes him a poor soldier, but his raw firepower and unstable mind make him a useful tool for a commander as capable as Megatron.

"Nothing New?" I think the note of "three faces" on Blitzwing's box is news. (unless I missed it) His bio is clearly Animated's.
Agent Adam
Three faces! Excellent. I am completely okay with Animated Blitzwing's characteristics being carried forward.
Maximal Dinobot
Nevermind...
Bountyan
>3 faces

I'm guessing the third face we haven't seen yet is based on the crazy face since the G1ish one already has characteristics of the angry face.

Also I haven't read about the kreon five packs before. Those will be hella helpful for getting extra parts without having to buy the entire kit.
Feralstorm
Interesting the Metroplex box (I think) is blurred out.
AAarcher221
Third face? Yes.

And I want a TMNT lanyard.
General Tekno
Three faces? Sweet.

Thanks for coming through, Australian fandom!

Yes! Three faces!

And I wonder how much of this stuff shown at the Australian ToyFair we'll actually get in Australia. Nice to see Wave 3 of Generations Voyagers when we've been sitting on Wave 1 for about five months...
Valkysas
I love that Animated is even influencing established G1 characters in their own toyline now. The three faces thing was obvious from the previous photos, but that bio is just awesome.

the "nothing new" needs to be edited out of the topic title, given we have new bios to stare at.
Mechafire
>your faces when Blitzving has 3 faces
Fort Max
Must see G1ised crazy face!
griffin-of-oz
Sorry... the "nothing new" bit was referring to there being no new toys shown, that we didn't see at the US Toyfair.
adambman
If this is the first evidence in writing that Generations Blitzwing will have three faces, well I don't want to jump the gun, but isn't this the first we've seen of both his and Springer's bios? The stuff about Springer fighting alone and never failing is interesting to say the least!
Transbot90210
To the OP. may you describe Scamper for us?
Grimwing
Preview for a new KREO animation. Looks like shockwave, Megatron, and thundercracker are judgeing some contest.

Ellamin
the iron man flipchanger-style toys are out at my walmart already, if that's of importance.

as I see more stock photos of blitzwing, I think I might actually want him...

Well done Griffin, you make Australia proud!

I know other people have mentioned this, but what was the deal with Metroplex? Why were they not showing him off as much as they were at the American toy fair?
GAUGE
This thread needs more SCAMPER.

I want to see the third face!

Which is kind of hilarious given that you can still see the cut-outs of the toy right next to it.
SilverOptimus
What toy is this? I have no memory of it. According to the packaging it's Beast Hunters. Does anyone know?

Apex armor with bulkhead?
odeean
My guess on Metroplex is that it is blured until we get a proper unit of measurement on the box. We use metric so to say "more than two feet" means nothing to most of the target audience for that toy.

Breakdown.
Also very old news, I saw that one in stores twice already. I find it odd how many people are unaware of the Apex Armor set.

Oh yeah. I meant breakdown lol.

Picked that up last month at TARGET.

If they still had quotes on the boxes Springer's would have to be "I've got better things to do tonight than die!"

Oh. Your. God. *drools*

Can't wait for the 2 Voyager Triplechangers to be release.

Blitzwing with three faces: YES

Ha, I KNEW Animated Blitzwing was too great a character not to influence other Blitzwings. Now RTS Lugnut is waiting for him! (Powerdive can complete the trio I guess)
griffin-of-oz
The top half of Scamper reminds me of the TF2 Legion DeadEnd/Nightbeat mould, with the head popping out of the hood, the hood itself appears curved inwards like a low-set sports car, and it folded down to be the entire chest/abdomen (like the original). The legs appeared to be folding out at the knee, but the "kneecap" (hinge) looked like it was on the outside of the legs. The forearms are a bit too fat, and have wheels on the outside of each forearm, while the head appears to have the flat panel on top from where it sits in the hood... but the rest of it looks really nice though. If they colour it accurately to Gen1 (completely black), the greyscale picture wasn't that difficult to visualise what the finished toy will look like.
There are fist holes, so is likely to come with a gun like the original, but it wasn't holding one in the image they had on display. The size of the toy looked Legion sized, as it was standing in front of the open ramp. The doorway looked to be from the head to kneecaps of Scamper.
Either at BotCon or before, we will see the finished version anyway, but until then, I'm sure there are some people here who will just take all this with a large grain of salt.

In the link quoted in the first post of this topic, scroll up three posts. It mentions that there is apparently only one finished painted prototype of Metroplex in Robot Mode so far, which made it too risky to ship it to Australia for the Toyfair, or too expensive to produce a second one (suggesting that it would have cost them about $5000 to build a second one).

Photos of the colour cut-outs of Metroplex were allowed, but I wasn't allowed to show any greyscale images or prototypes.
The non-American branches of Hasbro are either not allowed, or don't like, having images made public of early packaging mockups or greyscale prototypes. Unless it is being done by Hasbro America, the images could be misinterpreted by media sites or general consumers, potentially putting off customers from its lack of colours, or even have them complaining later that the product they bought didn't look like what they once saw online. It might sound bizarre, and us fans (the majority of people who see Toyfair pics) KNOW that they aren't finished products... some of us even prefer to see early samples to see more of the process behind certain figures. It's also worth noting that in previous years, it was actually Hasbro AMERICA that would tell Hasbro Australia not to allow photos to be taken, even though they actively encourage media coverage at their own American Toyfair. (an image released in any country is going to go global, so Hasbro America just wants to be in control of their Brand and its publicity, no matter where it is in the world, to be sure it is done fairly and accurately)

I personally hadn't seen Springer's modes yet... wow, I'm impressed. Probably going to get him, and (in a fit of insanity) pass on Blitzwing in pathetic hopes of a Slamdance repaint (... seriously Hasbro, do it. Even the three faces things work out well. The traditional head is identical to Slamdance's, and the other two can represent Grand Slam and Raindance).
Lockdown
So what was it we in AU ended up missing out in terms of Prime toys out of interest?

I stopped paying attention when Hasbro decided they weren't releasing a Breakdown and Jet Vehicon at all and went with the Kup deco for a mould that was clearly intended as Ironhide so haven't even bothered looking in local stores.

That Springer bio doesn't seem very Springer-y to me, although my freshest memory of him is from LSOTW.

My belief is that the Springer bio (and the Kreon Springer one) seems to have been based on the TFwiki.net entry (as several recent bios have explicitly been).

Until recently, said bio featured a line about him preferring to fight "solo" as part of a joke about him being the Han Solo character in TF:TM. Unfortunately later editing of the profile obscured the joke till it was unclear that it had been a joke. I think Hasbro may have used the wiki as a reference for the bios and missed the "joke" and not realized Springer has never really been a "lone wolf" in fiction.

The line in question has since been removed just to be safe.

-ZacWilliam, not definitive that this is what happened but it's my guess.
MWG
Gen. Blitzwing just cemented his spot at the top of my Want list of the upcoming toys we currently know about. He just looks like one of the best "Classics" redesigns we have seen IMO.

+-MWG-+
Omega Charge
Really cool that they're doing Cybertron characters in Bot Shots; Dirt Boss, Optimus Prime, Scourge...
Angelwave
I must have Springer and Blitzwing.

I MUST!
down_shift
I could care less if Blitzwing has three faces, so long as it doesn't interfere with overall design or sacrifice articulation. I'm sure for some this is great news, but for me. Meh.
Rattrap Primal
Now Blitzwing could really be at home partnering up with Lugnut
xa rumblebee
what's up with the two 5-pack kreon sets with the mystery 5th kreon in each set? that got my attention the most out of all the pics...
Sideways77
Wow. I REALLY want Blitzwing. I need to see the crazy face.

Also, is the Kreon Soundwave G1? I can't find it.

Yes, it came with the Sentinel Prime Kre-O.

Is this the first we've seen of Ultimate Predaking in package? I don't remember seeing anything or hearing it would be packaged in beast mode.

EDIT: Nevermind, it was in the Toy Fair pics.
Sideways77
That's a shame. A DoTM-based Soundwave would be cool.

Wonder why they'd repack Kreons...
Snake_eyes1975
Can't believe noone is commenting on the boxxed ultimate predaking. That is freaking sweet, packed in dragon mode like that. Both ultimate class are there and boxed as well.
jestermon
Nice, I really like that box for Blitzwing as well.

I don't think they know who is getting the Metroplex store wise, I bet this box was a more finalized box.

Probably why it's covered up, the one at Toyfair looked weird not naming any features or details like a normal box, unless it had an opening flap they didn't show.

Aside from Megatron these are the Kreons I just completed from the discounted TJMaxx sets, I'm pretty sure they picked these for people to catch up from the sets that people didn't buy earlier so they can get people into Kreo that didn't get these before.
