*facepalms*

Please tell me that post was made in sarcasm.

Please tell you didn't miss some 30-odd pages of bitching and moaning over a partially transforming Devastator.

I'll clear it up for you, just in case you're serious.

The Constructicons (the actual action figures) do transform from vehicle to robot and back, but do NOT combine.

Devastator does break down into six vehicles, but none of those vehicles have a robot mode. The set transforms exactly like a Power Rangers Megazord. (I.E. vehicles combine to form one giant machine)

The Constructicons are the normal Deluxe and Voyager class prices. ($12.99 and $21.99)

Devastator will come boxed as a set, and will retail for $100.00 (and no, contrary to popular belief, he is not two feet tall, nor is he four feet wide. Not even close.)

*sighs* I really hated typing that out.
MonkeyBusiness:
Let's talk about Devastator for a moment, shall we?

Right now, Devastator looks like garbage, because in building him, Hasbro chose vehicles that are clearly simplified from the vehicles in their standard forms.

Now, it's not so much the way Devastator is constructed that we care about. It's the fact that it's only 3-4 colors, with no real detail.

Let's take a look:

Constructicon Demolishor (Excavator)

Devastator version:

Toy version:

Look at the difference in the toys. The level of detail is staggeringly obvious. Look at the treads. Look at the excavator arm. Look at the side of the cab. A lot of work was put in to the Voyager-class toy to make it look that good.

Constructicon Rampage (Bulldozer)

Devastator version:

Toy version:

Again, the toy version is clearly significantly more detailed than the Devastator version.

I think what's getting everyone's goat is that rather than make a true combiner, which based on the construction of Devastator doesn't seem like it would be impossible, or even terribly difficult, Hasbro chose to make a sub-par combiner instead.

We still haven't seen the 4 other Constructicons in robot mode yet. Maybe Hasbro and Michael Bay have something crazy up their sleeves. Or maybe there's another toy coming that's been kept super secret. We just don't know.

However, I'm betting that someone will make an aftermarket add-on that will allow the Constructicons to form Devastator. It's clear the market is more than ripe for a product like that, just like it was ripe for a sword for the original Leader-class Prime from the first movie. It'll just take some time, that's all.
AnimatedFan:
I hate to do this, but I've searched this thread several times and have failed to find the info... what are we receiving in the first wave, again?

Thanks in advance.

It's never been spelled out exactly what's in the first wave. All we know is the Preview wave is the deluxe Bumbles remold and Protoform Soundwave. If I had to guess, I'd say that the deluxes, FABs, and voyagers we've seen in official pictures are the first wave, plus the first four scouts we saw (Rollbar, Dead End, Knock Out, & Dirt Boss), Leader class Prime, the 3 Robot Heroes 2-packs on the club site, the 3 Gravity Bots, the Bumbles Potato head, roleplay blaster, and roleplay helmet, and the "Battle for the Allspark" RH set. (Of course, just because something isn't in Wave 1 doesn't mean it won't be spotted on the initial release date-- remember that the "Wave 2" deluxes Bonecrusher & Swindle were spotted during the initial release date for the 1st movie toys.) The only reason I don't include the big Devastator set or the RPMs in that list is because they were specifically slated for August.

All we need now is a bit of Energon and a lot of luck.
Yubarules77:
ok i think i understand. So the 6 constructicons from devastator do not transform, even Scavanger... but there a gonna release all 6 constructicons Voyager/Deluxe sizes that transform individually but not merge into Devastator... ok I think thats my understanding

Still, not getting the non transforming constructicons

Rather ill kitbash the 6 transforming constructicons and make Devastator my self...

Of course I was being sarcastic.

But the person I was replying to was being serious.

So lets aim your reply at him, shall we?

I declare this thread officially over as it has turned into a bitchfest BETWEEN people.

Primus_feather:
I have to say thou this, I believe this is the single subject (Devasstator) where 95%+ of the members AGREE on something. You have to give Hasbro credit, they bring people together..

Just a random thought, Looking at the Fugly Twins and the way they "combine" Ice cream truck and the mirrored quality of their bot modes, Are the Movie transformers that can "join" the equivalent of "Multiples"? (as in birthed.) The Twins combine to form one form(vehicle), and Devasstator combines to for a giant individual(bot), so does this make them similar to quintuplet's?
Primus:
Here is Bumblespud that I designed for a company in the UK about a year ago. I'm not sure why Hasbro didn't use this design. I think they really dropped the ball here.

Spyro:
Has anybody seen pictures of Leader Class Jetfire? Will Jetfire get a Voyager Class mold? I must know.
Hollywood Hoist:
Are we at the end of any new information from Toy Fair? I thought we were going to hear official confirmation that Animated is indeed done.

wow, man yours is way better ~ the one displayed is a real WTF compared to most of the other "themed" Mr. Potatoheads which have been pretty damn clever (indiana jones is my favorite)

Hopefully the lack of information means the lack of a cancellation! Color me happy.

Apparently we're not allowed to know. At least this is better than Toy Fair 2007 - IIRC, back then they didn't let us see ANY toys besides Prime, the Prime helmet, that roleplay gun and Ultimate Bumblebee.

Pictures haven't been shown yet, and as for a Voyger, we don't know yet, but it's most likely going to happen. I personally hope that the inevitable Voyager class version of him gets a G1 inspired repaint. Something about the thought of the SR-71 in white sounds interesting. He's also probably going to get a FAB too. I'd say he'd be getting an RPM too, but I'm not so sure any of the jet-bots will be made like that.
Spyro:
I guess I'll just have to wait till May...
kenm2474:
To have a properly working Devastator Hasbro should have done it this way. They should have put all the resources they had available in the Constucticon development team and developed a fully functional Devastator. But no they split the team into making an ill equipped Devastator and a team to make non combining separate Constructicon team. So they had more than enough time to create a proper Devastator combining these 2 Engineering Teams. Team 1 Produce a None Transforming Combining Devastator. Team 2 Produce a Non Combining Transforming Team. Put those 2 teams together???? Sell as a set for $100.00 to $150.00 and sell as Individual bots as Hasbro has done before with other Combiner teams.
QuinJester:
I wouldn't doubt that it was the same team that made both, actually. People often overestimate the number of people working in design departments at companies like this.

You reinforce my point even more so. 1 team designing 2 seperate ways to have a Constructicon Devastator Team. Come on now!! That makes Hasbro seem extreamly stupid.
Maximus_Prime:
just wait till all the bots are sold separately and wait for all the customs! I can't wait to see what people will come up with.
