So, I might actually be saving some money myself on ROTF, too.
DECEPTIKONBRAWL:
AN RPM BRAWL?!?!?!??!???!?!?!YEEEEEEES!!!!!!! devastator looks wicked!!!!!!!!!wish there were pics of primes full robot mode Cyber-Scream:
Every thing looks so cool! Can't wait for this toy line.
KrytenKoro:
...that's all they were able to engineer for 99$ Devastator?
Why, again, couldn't they have made it just 7 transforming robots that combine? Where is the intricacy that made it impossible for one set to do both?
SPLIT LIP:
Devastator is fucking AWESOME! I don't mind that the individual parts don't transform, as long as he looks awesome. Loving pretty much everything I see. Still can't wait to get my hands on Leader Prime. The twins actually look pretty good, even with the malformed head designs. (which in their defense, is supposed to look disfigured)
EDIT: Whoa, wait, I just noticed the dudes aroudn Devastator, and he is THAT big? I thought he was a tiny thing! (like leader-size combined) Seriously, he's $100, over a foot tall and that's the best they could do? I'm not normally one to be the demanding fan, but seriously, that's just lame. Guess I'll just get the regular Constructicons.
Optimus747:
One question:
Is the excavator named "Demolishor" or "Scavenger"? The Voyager's box says Demolishor, yet the combiner set toy says "SCVNGR" on the side and reports say he's named Scavenger.

Nightrain:
Rampage looks suspiciously like Bonecrusher...
Blackout:
I'm really saddened about Devastator. But I guess it saves me money to continue getting G1 stuff.
Someone was right about Devs being a rush job. Damn.
And a G1 repaint aint gonna help this guy Hasbro.

So what is it Hasbro....Is it Demolisher or Scavenger?
Its not hard to make a decision is it?
and seriously given the look of each Devestator componant in the combining one, you cannot try telling me it was impossible to make the individual transforming bots make those shapes.

Devastator does justice to the movie guy, just not justice to our wallets.
cypherXR:
I'm hoping these are not production model toys and just prototypes, because they all look pretty shitty. The paint jobs on the constructicons are horrendous. After seeing a couple of new pictures of Devs on another site, I'm not quite as disappointed as I was initially. And yeah, where the fuck is my leader class Jetfire!?
megatronkicksas:
No Megatron or Jetfire?

Hasbro, you REALLY fucked up this time. | It was NEVER set in stone that Devastator was 7 Constructicons, that was just the rumor coming down the pipe.
And if you listened to those rumors, you should've also known for a while now that Devastator might not be able to turn into individual bots. Don't like it? Don't buy it. I'll be buying the individual Constructicons now myself because the Supreme one just isn't that great for the price IMO.
Thundercrackah:
The twins look really weird but I really like them, will definitely be getting both.
I wonder if they will have any reason in the movie for them looking so different.
Leader Prime is awesome, as expected, so is Sideswipe. Nice new robot heroes too.
I wasnt gonna get Devastator anyway so I don't really care about him either way.
Animated stuff, well Ratbat is nice but I have Soundwave, don't want another.
And Arcee? Meh.
Slimaximus:
Thank You hasbro for saving me 100bucks that dev looks like crap, and the don't even have bot modes lol, if they has bot modes and looked like crap it would be a harder choice but he looks like crap and no bot modes gives no reason to spend that much money, HELLO Shelfwarmers
Rijie78:
Disappointing. The ROTF toys are clearly somewhat nearer the CG designs than the first movie toys were to theirs, but still not enough; and more importantly, it would seem the concepts of "finish" and "polish" are lost on Hasbro. These all look cheap and nasty in the raw - once again, to see these toys at their best, it'll be a case of keeping an eye on the Radicons forum for the mods and decent paintjobs. I'm even unsure of that Leader Prime now, and the previous photos we'd seen had practically had me earmarking fivers for buying one.
That said, I'm not Hasbro's target market; I'm sure kids will have an awesome time playing with them... but even so, grumble grumble grumble.

MonkeyBusiness:
I'm going to bet that Megatron and Jetfire are going to be in the 2nd wave of movie toys out in August. Megs is supposed to be a big secret, and Jetfire is kind of an unknown outside of TF circles.
Also, I can almost guarantee that someone like TFClub is positively salivating over the Devastator debacle and is working to get the transformable Constructicons so they can make a Devastator conversion kit.

Maybe one of the bots is so small it doesn't warrant a separate bot and comes as an accessory
KrytenKoro:
Why does Demolisher (Voyager) look nothing like Demolisher (Devastator)? Are we confused, and Demolisher (Devastator) is actually a separate "Scavenger (Devastator)"? Or is Hasbro's toy design so fricking incompetent that not only can't they get transforming combiners to stick together Scramble City style like they've been doing for years, they can't even get two versions of the same character look remotely similar?

caitlindevi:
Well theres the reason the individual bots don't combine
They'd be totally out of scale. They'd need to be one leader class, 1 voyager and 4 deluxes
Ktulu:
Perhaps with more paint apps on Dev's face it'd look better. As it stands, it looks like it's just a robot with no neck or head and a silver mask randomly stuck on his chest.

iconscons:
Sideswipe and the yellow bulldozer-constructicon look good. But the two mutant autobots, and the lack-luster non-transforming devastator are very disappointing.
OMEGAPRIME1983:
just wondering, and I appologise if this has been brought up, but are there any back side shaots of these figures at all?? Im particularly looking for a backk shot of the new prime figure, and are there going to be more pictures posted up that arent already??
EDIT: ooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh, ironhide gots a new head sculpt... its kinda yummo.

Wow Hasbro....
really?....
If that thing is the $100 Devs we have heard about, color me let down.
With today's tech, and all that jazz, you guys couldn't come up with a Devs that could combine, and still have individual bot modes too?!!....you pulled it off 25 years ago, but yet you fail in 2009?....
I mean, really?....
Wow Hasbro....
Ravenxl7:
Anybody else notice that the new Leader Prime appears to have all plastic tires? I personally was really hoping that he would have rubber tires like the first movie's Leader Prime. It's not a big enough disappointment to stop me from buying him, but it definitely would have made the buy all the more satisfying.
As for all the complaining over the Devs figure. These bots are far more complex than those of the gestalt teams from G1. While it would have been epicly cool to see them pull off a completely transformable Devs, I can understand why they weren't able to pull it off. Who knows, if Devs survives this movie, Hasbro might be able to spend some more time working it out and give us a vastly improves version in the third movies toy line. That and this toy was specifically aimed at kids, not us. The individual bots are more or less supposed to be the more complex versions of them.

Wow Hasbro.... | I'm sure they could, if they tried. But then undoubtedly the combined mode would probably look like ass, and then there'd be complaining about that. Whilst it's not a traditional combiner, it's probably the best compromise to come to.
Vector Sigma:
There aren't really words to describe the utter shit I see in those pictures.
I'm sure kids will be overjoyed, but not me, but hell I barely collect these days anyway.
If any of the Devestator things we've seen is ebing sold for £100 over here it will likely be the biggest shel warmer ever, because it's just terrible...
Blackout:
Hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling Jetfire will be Meh as well. Megs should be decent... hopefully.
Ravenxl7:
Here's a question I just thought of for the people who were there. About how tall did Devs appear? I'm curious to see if the whole 2 foot thing turns out to be true. Judging by the pictures, it looks like he's most likely shorter than that, though it's a bit hard to tell. Thanks in advance tomdom69:
is jetfire that exosquad guy?
MonkeyBusiness:
So, we're looking at six figures. If done in scale, it's a Leader, a Voyager, and 4 Deluxes. In US prices, that's about $120 plus tax.
Without seeing the Constructicons first hand, there's no way to tell if they could be molded together on their own. But, I can bet you someone is going to try.
AnimatedFan:
A few things...
1.) The RPM race set confirms everyone's speculation. The final battle with Devestator appears to take place in Egypt. (Look at the art on the box.)
2.) Are the Autobot twins supposed to be handicapped (mentally) or something? (Their faces make it seem as such. If that's the case...it's kinda tacky for the filmmakers to do such a thing.)
3.) Hasbro may have a legitimate reason for the two Constructicon sets, but my guess is it's just to cash in on the whole thing. And while we may not like the setup, the public probably will. I have a feeling the combined Devvy will sell quite well. Ultimate Bumblebee did...
All in all, not a spectacular Toy Fair, but definitely better than last year's and the year before.
faithingruden:
very excited about the new toys!!!!
